I think it'd simply be something like "You won't lose, because only I will defeat you." -- something to that effect but a little more polite.

Since the Hina/Saku thing has been primetime. Let's talk Sasuke. Where is he? I can't remember but did the Kages defeate Madara already? Maybe that's where he's headed. It would certainly showcase some powers if he's able to deal with all of them. It's usually that way isn't it? Showcase/ Showcase then Versus. I also still feel a little uneasy that Kabuto hasn't done anything yet.

Ha ha ha, I understand now. Kishi was trying to compete with Bleach, which started its final arc this week, so he pulled out the shipping guns. Well played, sir.

Anyways, Hinata's portion of the K-11 speech was definitely more romantic than Sakura's, and was also longer, but for some reason it doesn't bother me. It could be possible foreshadowing, if Kishi suddenly decided at some point in the past few years to go in that direction, but I think he's already reached the point of no return as far as pairings go. Some of the Naru/Saku development, hints, and parallels can be ret-conned into being platonic interaction, but a lot of it's really hard to go back on. Naruto's feelings for Sakura have been portrayed as completely selfless for the majority of the series, and seeing him give up on her would seem awkward at this point.

As for Hinata's speech itself, I actually liked it. Part of the thing that's always bugged me about Naru/Hina, even when I shipped it (don't worry, it was a while ago-I was young and reckless ), was that it was never a pairing between equals. It was always just Naruto with a cute shy girl following him around. For someone like Kishi, who seems to prefer outgoing female characters, pairing his hero up with a girl like Hinata just wouldn't seem natural. Now, though, it definitely looks like Hinata has the resolve to stand next to Naruto as an equal, and not just as a hero-worshipper. To be honest, if Kishi intended to show the Naru/Hina pairing in this light from now on, I wouldn't even mind seeing an N/H ending, in and of itself. The only problem I'd have with it would be how Kishi shows Naruto giving up on his selfless feelings for Sakura, which, as I mentioned, would really seem unnatural at this point in the story.
Of course, probably a bigger problem I'd have with an N/H conclusion would simply be that it would make S/S more viable, which is the pairing that really tends to irk me. But that's another story, I suppose.

Now, like a lot of people have said, Sakura's speech, though it wasn't necessarily romantic, definitely seemed stronger to me. Hinata's was important too, and she also echoed her intentions to help Naruto out, but outside of the romantic stuff, I thought Sakura's speech to help Naruto definitely seemed to resound the loudest. Hinata's speech may set the tone for the whole K-11 thing, given how it was first one to be shown, but, as readers, we see Sakura's speech last, and thus that's the note the whole spiel ends on. So while Hinata's speech shouldn't be ignored, Sakura's speech is definitely more important than some fans will be giving it credit for (though not on this site obviously ).

Anyways, outside of the shipping stuff, I really don't have too much to comment on. Tobi's confusion was pretty cool. It seems like part of him is aware that Naruto is a serious threat to his plan, but his pride won't let him admit it. Other than that, it really seemed like a motivational chapter for everyone. I'd be willing to bet that this song will be playing when the anime gets to this chapter.


Also, did anyone else notice how Neji didn't get a speech? He was running right next to Hinata while she was giving hers, but I don't recall him saying anything. Did his speech get absorbed by Hinata's? Poor guy. I guess he had the misfortune of being with one of Naruto's potential love interests while Kishi was in Troll Mode.

I actually don't care how Kishi would portray foreshadowing if it happened with NH, if there was any; the pairing still irks me nonetheless. There's just something about it that doesn't make sense No sense at all. I remember foreshadowing in the earlier chapters of Naruto (and later as in Gaara fight with Shukaku) where both Konohamaru, and one of his summon frogs hinted that Naruto was working so hard for his girlfriend, or trying to impress his girlfriend, / save his girlfriend. Kishi even pointed out with a sfx that the sign they made with their pinky stood for lover or romantic interest/girlfriend. Now, like you said, to pair Naruto up with a girl like Hinata wouldn't seem natural - and I agree. Shikamaru's father said to him in part 1 that even the most violent woman loves right - or something like that. It was something obviously foreshadowing the tsunderes of the manga, I can't remember exactly what he said, but it was valuable.

A good build up chapter I thought, get us all looking forward to what's in store in coming chapters.
I won't comment on any possible shipping material in this chapter, because I've arrived late into the debate and several other of our H&E faithful (particularly James S Cassidy & tricksie) have voiced the same opinions that I share.
What I will say is that Tobi losing his nerve somewhat is a major turning point. Up until now, he's demonstrated a calm and confident composure, certain that he's got everything planned out there's nothing that could disrupt him. Now, while he has yet to outwardly show it, his demeanuer has changed, he's questioning his decisions and trying to reassure himself that he is the one still in control of the situation. He obviously never considered the battle would go on for this long, and would be forced to get his own hands dirty. This is the part where the plan starts to unravel, and we're likely to see Tobi make very reckless decisions out of desperation (which makes him more dangerous). But with both reinforcemrnts and Sasuke on their way, this battle's likely to be interupted before a winner can be decided.

And that brings me to Sasuke:
I know we're suposed to be expecting some spectacular new abillities from him, but (and I'm probably gonna end up eating my words) what powers could Sasuke have that haven't already been outdone/outclassed by those displayed by other characters so faf (i.e. Naruto, Madara, Tobi, etc)? The latter two being Rinnegan users already knocks Sasuke down the ladder, so what are we expecting to see besides more powerful and/or modified versions of the Mangekyo techniques he's displayed so far?

I am late for any NS rant. So I gust I just keep it bottled up always. So I guess I discuss the rest of the chapter. I had a whole lot to say but reading the post to get here I forgot most of it. So um... Team Kohona ready to help Naruto and like everyone has been saying they are all looking good. Sakura looking sexy as ever and I think even Ino would to see Choji in that form all the time LOL! J/K. Of course Sasuke looking bad ass at the end. Epic battle coming! Awesome!

Poor Neji but then again he isn't one to commit on much or really praise anyone, maybe when the battle is over he'll commit on something. He is probably in battle mode. Silent and focused. Just a guess. Not the smartest man in the world.

A great chapter,
It leaves me with mix emotion. I can’t wait to see this chapter in anime with an epic Naruto music while we see them rush towar Naruto and express their thought. However I felt a bit disappointed because of the Hinata comment that makes me think about something. I know it might sound stupid bt here my dark thought:

To me after reading the manga it will be NS (already post why in topic Why do we like NS). But we’re not the majority, more people want to see NH happen so could the editor or some guys convince the author to do otherwise. I mean I just discover today that if I play Ultimate ninja storm 2 and you picked Naruto and Hinata in a team you’ll get( secret lovers as a team name) and if you put it with Sakura nothing which suck. Anyway I know it’s a game mean nothing but maybe Bandai know things we don’t ,cuz if NH won’t happen, they kind of messed up big time . And we’re close the end of the manga and Hinata said I will be the one to hold Naruto in the end. Hard to ignore a bold statement from her (in her inner self I know)

Still I believe in NS but just get a lot of dark thought over nothing ( Because Naruto never said he love Hinata) (trying to cheer myself up )

Sakura speech was really good, I really like the emotion in it and the allusion in the same time at the promise. (This time we’ll do it together line)
Naruto bring them hope, Sasuke might bring them despair before a final fight

but in japan narusaku is more popular than naruhina :O in fact alot of pairings are more popular in japan than naruhina.

its just the american audience that likes naruhina too much

if sakura said what hinata said then narusaku would pretty much be cannon why? cause naruto already loves sakura and sakura just needs to say it back

but this doesnt make hinata cannon because.....we already know she likes him.....now if naruto said that about hinata then we would have something to worry about XD
