Yeah guys, even though he doesn't even know how to kiss Chi-Chi (don't know why the Japanese thought that was a joke), Goku is there for his family. Hell, when he found out when Zamasu and Goku Black killed Chi-Chi and Goten in another timeline during the "Future" Trunks saga, Goku was beyond pissed off!
And when he fought Jiren, Roshi and Goku himself acknowledged that the reason he became so strong was because of his family and friends, not just because of his love of fighting.
Light and Shadow are the only static creations of this universe.

Most shounen protagonist's parents are better then those two at least in other shounen manga: we don't normally question if the parent loves their kids, the manga doesn't usually make us ask this, the characters don't normally have to ask this themselves, and if they do quickly show that no the parent really does care about them. Boruto on the other hand shows us the opposite of the first three, and as for the fourth; Sasuke & Naruto are more interested in the others kid.

Even Kenshin in the manga for Rurouni Kenshin isn't a crappy dad when it comes to Kenji, even if Kenji is more attuned with Kaoru than he is his dad. X-D Plus Ichigo and Orihime are way better parents, as are Rukia and Renji in Bleach's ending!

I don't know about that because I've seen some kitten fathers in shoujo/josei. They are the worst in shounen though.

So, I think we need to draw some lines somewhere. Is Goku as bad as Sasuke and Naruto? No, in comparison Goku is a much better father than these two, but let's compare Goku to say Vegeta...or even Superman. How good of a father is he?
I do have to say one thing about both Goku and Chi-Chi....they are kind of bad parents in the respect that they both forcfully wanted something for Gohan without ever asking him what he wanted. Yeah, Chi-Chi did care about Gohan's education and such, but at times she was a tad bit way more controlling than she should be and is almost obsessive to the point of wanting to vicariously live through him. Goku was the same way in forcing his son to learn how to fight not really know what Gohan wanted to or not. Even Piccolo pointed this out. "Goku, your son is not a fighter like you are. You can't expect him to perform the same way."
I think this is something that parents have lacked in anime....they don't really ask what their kids want for themselves.
Goku is not the worst father on the planet, but he is not a great dad either. It's not like Gohan came to him for parental advice about girls or about puberty or even about issues he may have felt. I don't know, it is such a weird concept because we have Goku sometime showing care, but at other times showing no care or even act irresponsible for being a dad.
On a scale from 1-10 on being a parent 1 being the worst and ten being the best. I'd give Goku about a 4 or 5. He is a little below average. Naruto and Sasuke are a 2 and a 1 respectfully with Sasuke just being a horrible father and Naruto only being slightly above him. Superman is probably a 9 or even 10 as he tries his best at being the best father he can even to sons that are technically not his or he has adopted.

In my eyes, Goku is like Luffy, he is a bit slow on the uptake 
But I wouldn't call him a bad parent, maybe not a skilled one. He cares about his family. Sasuke does not care about his family, even though he always pretends he does. Naruto does not care about his family - even though I don't think it was the worst thing to do, but he sends a shadow clone to Himawari's Birthday, in Naruto universe, that was just ...

Hey at least those fathers were MEANT to be written that way, Boruto's dad and Sasuke were a means to an end to create unnecessary drama so that is still worse in my book 
Especially since one turned out to be a hypocrite and the other gives SO FEW $%@#s about his family you wonder why he even had one in the first place given his sociopathic like apathy to anyone not named Naruto Uzamaki (which was then replaced by NARDO SCUMZAMAKI)

I doubt they're as bad as the one guy from full metal alchemist though, definitely worst dad in manga history.

Hoenheim did some terrible stuff for sure, BUT he did love his family, even as scared as he was to remain with them and what led to the tragedy with them, though he isn't on par with Naruto and Sasuke in many cases for sure. Considering at least with Hoenheim, he didn't try to KILL Ed or Al, like Sasuke did with Sarada just because he had never seen her after Karin gave birth to her and she was raised by Sakura.
