Knowing how Kishi has been playing out the NaruSaku relationship, I think he would want to continue to leave it open up to interpretation. So if a hug did happen, he would leave the meaning up for discussion. I think it would be something to where Naruto would lose control of Kyuubi and Sakura hugs him from behind and holds on to try to calm him down even though the chakra is burinng into her. And Naruto would be able to regain control because he doesn't want to hurt her (he can do a flashback to when he found out he had hurt Sakura before in his Kyuubi form). So it keeps in line with Naruto willing to do anything to protect Sakura and you're still left wondering if Sakura did it because she loves Naruto or if she just doesn't want to lose another friend and be alone. And this way Kishi can keep teasing us about whether or not they will end up together and keep us guessing.

So yes, I think there will probably be some kind of hug in the future, but it will still leave us guessing.

You guys got to realize that kiss is almost akin to sex in Japan, so a hug is about on the level of what we Westerners would consider a kiss to be. Its going to happen at the most dramatic possible moment. Even Sasuke only got a hug from behind, which was sort of symbolic of that relationship.

Thank you for that explanation, and for the symbology of that pairing. And another reason why the hug may not come until a moment of deep anxiety, why did i say anxiety? I'll tell you why, anxiety or moments of pure shock can change the personality of a person. Sakura is on the agressive side, she's those kind of girls that are less "touchy feely," don't get me wrong, Naruto's and Sakura's friendship is or very close to being in the level of "physical" affection, i mean boys and girls who are friends for awhile may come to that level. Now what Travis said is quite true, and i'll like to tell you a fact...

Bottom line: American and Japanese people have different "cultures", so a hug to Japanese people is equal to a kiss to us, basically Japanese people are less physical than us Americans...

Now what does this mumbo jumbo has anything to do with Narusaku?

Sakura is an ideal example of a typical Japanese person, less physical more talkative. I'm not saying ALL people of Japanese decent is like this, but i'm just putting it out there.. I'll tell you why Sakura isn't this type of touchy feely person.

Now I'm going to do a magic trick, and it's called compare and contrast. I'm going to compare my point to key Naruto chapters..

The chapter when Sakura thought Sasuke was dead (Zabuza arc), what kind of atmosphere was around during that time. Uhh deep anxiety.. normally Sakura wouldn't be on top of Sasuke's chest on a normal day unless they were a couple? So there you go.

The chapter when Sasuke was in his cursed sealed form fighting those sound grunts.. Sakura was entirely under deep pressure and Anxiety, and she was scared about what was happening with Sasuke. So under a state of fear, that can also change a normal person's personality.

I guess, (if i dare say), Episode 140 or was it 141, was exactly the same as my first example. This is when Naruto and Sakura's friendship was more apparent. Sakura thought Naruto died that moment, so she cried while she lied on Naruto, but we all know what happens next.

Chapter 296 and Chapter 297, oh god is there not an good example for these chapters? Sakura's heart was hurting when she saw Naruto in 4 tailed form, it was indeed a dramatic scene, and what Travis said is true, things happen when it's very dramatic. Hidden things that have not being made open yet may appear, ahem can we say that Sakura may have "more than a friendship" feelings for Naruto... please if Sakura was being told that she may have feelings for Naruto when it isn't a very pressured situation, she will say NU-UH, and would be too shy to say that she does. But we all know that she does... But when she was talking with Yamato, it was a very dramatic scene... so the possiblity of Naruto being dead is possible.. so she has nothing to hold back, the fear of death changes a person.. so there you go, she has nothing to deny, if the conversation wasn't interrupted by Naruto waking up, i think she might've admit that she does have those kind of feelings towards Naruto. But hey, that didn't happen...

So why did we had a chapter when Sakura was ready to feed Naruto his ramen? If we were the Japanese right, and had their culture and values, we would assume that Narusaku is very indeed close to being cannon, but we are Americans.. we believe that a kiss seals the deal.. Because Japanese people are more direct, and we Americans are still direct but not as much as the Japanese people.

So i think i already said that i think the hug can only come when it's a very dramatic scene.. But that's when i will say Narusaku is Cannon, because since this is a Japanese comic book made by Japanese people with Japanese cultures, hug= Kiss, and Kiss= being near to have sex!

Thank you for saying that Travis, looks like great minds think alike. lol.

with the shippuuden anime from the start you see sakura kind of debating her feelings for naruto alot, at least it seem that way, i think if there gonna hug it gotta be deep and a final cemented action to start the couple, if not the tension will just build up and she'll run into his arms hug and kiss all at once. like a kinda self realisation of "my god.. i want him!!" sorta thing....maybe lol. huh.gif

That's a very interesting point. I never thought about that. But then again, even though this is a Shonen manga, does this also applies to shojo as well (since they are dozens of kissy-kissy and huggy-huggy scenes in those mangas)?
