On a scale of 1 to 10, how well do you rate your inner Master Chef?

0 = can't cook. Full stop.
1 = *kitchen implosion*
3 = might be able to produce something edible with strict guidance and recipes.
5 = not the best but enough not to starve.
7 = pretty good, a few specialty dishes. Occasionally experiments, with varying results.
10 = can make anything, and damn well too!

You can decide where to put yourself if you make nothing but instant foods tongue.gif

I'd say I'm around a 6.5 XD I can indeed cook without posing a threat to myself and those in my apartment block, but I'm lazy enough that I only make the same meals over and over again. If I feel like something different, I experiment a tad - the first trial is usually edible but either too tasteless or too salty. I've got a bad instinct for how long to cook things because I lack common knowledge from being spoonfed by my chef of a dad (I know, you'd think the gene carries) sweatdrop.gif

So how do you guys fare in the kitchen? Feel free to share experiences, favourite dishes and catastrophes! biggrin.gif

I'm going to have to say probably 3.5, maybe even lower. Don't know the last time I cooked a meal by myself.

With the scale you use...probably between a 6 or 7.

I've been expanding the recipies I use, but I don't tend to experiment too much. I've have just been adding more complicated dishes.

10/10 I'm the god damned Iron Chef
In fact they call me Iron Chef Morimuffins.

In all seriousness I've taken a few classes and am pretty good when I cook.
Don't cook too often though since about all I can afford to buy is hot pockets and instant noodles.

I'd be a 5-6, depending on what type of food I can whipped up. But I am awesome when it comes to making desserts! tongue.gif

If I had to be honest, only 5... However, if I'm in a flavor mood (which is once in a blue moon), I'll be about 7-8. happy.gif

I'm very confidante in my cooking since I was taught by my grandmother and mother, so I'd give myself a 9. People often joke and tell me I should sell my food from my house XD I cook American, Mexican, and Japanese the best.

Something between 8 and 9. I can't say 10 because I'm not that good in some areas- for example, I'm still very poor in cakes / cookies.
I'm good at mass cooking too (I host up to 30 people at least one per year) and I always get praises for my cooking - so it must turn out good.

And since I've had my kids (5 years and 3 years), I've had to learn what I call 'cunning cooking' - to hide lots of veggies in meals tongue.gif

Cuisine I'm good in: Creole (my native cuisine), Indian, Italian, Chinese, and the basics like roasts and casseroles etc.

Probably a 7. I've mastered about every way to make an egg, I also like cooking up chicken or steak and seeing what spices work and what don't, as well as made some pastas before too.

I'd say a 6, I can cook tasty simple meals, but the variety of my meals is a bit limited. I have experimented with new recipes and done well, unfortunately it's hard when almost all cookbooks are designed to feed 4 people, not one or two! I'd like to find some books or websites designed for bachelors.

Allrecipes.com is very good, and offer options to adapt serving size. I also use Food network.

Thanks for the link. biggrin.gif I've given it a quick look, and I like how there's a UK recipes section, and you can switch the amounts to metric. There's even a little guide to American cooking phrases so I don't get confused.

I'll explore it on Friday when my work week's done, so I can have time to try something new this weekend.

Well American English and Measurements isn't that different from the ones over here in England, (Yes I'm English... So finally people can say something different than "Apparently thinks he's legendary..." on the "What do you know about this person?" thread, but I digress...

But that site sounds cool, I really wanna check it out! XD
