Ahhhhh, to be perfectly honest, Jenskott, your questions about all the what-ifs were why I'd never done a crackfic time travel story. Depending on who went forward and who went back and
when, it all got, as we like to say in the Doctor Who fandom, very
Wibbly-Wobbly, Timey Whimey. As a result, I never got anything I quite liked solidly worked out (though some rough fanfics do exist on my harddrive) and just did some cracky little sketches for a laugh.
When
AnimeFreakOut asked to do "Not A Clone," she had to ask a lot of questions about the characters to set this up, including a lot about their personalities and how they'd react. Hasuka actually came up as the one with the worst reaction to Sasuke - both are stubborn and Hasuka has Sakura's temper, so in the suggested scenario where Sasuke pulls his "blar, I am Uchiha, I don't have to tell you ANYTHING" arrogance card, she assumes that he's hurt her little brother and decides she will take him as a serious threat, enough to use an ability she won't normally use (as Sharingan munches chakra like candy, a bad thing for a medic). In contrast, Hasuka's little brother Minoru treats Sasuke like a weirder version of his broody teammate - basically, he thinks he's a jerk and gets in his face, just like Naruto would do.
I honestly have no idea where she'll take the story - I've given her probably more about the characters than most people get to see outside of the actual doujinshi script (and she still doesn't know what happens in that, ha). So, I'm still waiting to see where she goes with it.
The few I hashed out, but won't post, I can summarize.
1. Rinji and Hana get separated on an escort mission, defending the chuunin and client from an S-ranked missing nin. The missing nin attempts to use a forbidden jutsu, but Hana's strike hits him at the same time he completes it and just as Rinji is pulling her away. Said jutsu explodes, pulling all three back in time and sending them flying. They finish their fight, unaware that a genin squad is approaching on the road.
Hana and Rinji spend most of the time basically trying to figure out how to get back and avoid everyone's questions - Rinji, in particular, avoids Sasuke like he's got the plague. Hana, on the other hand, finds her younger parents both alarming and hilarious in equal measure. Particularly jarring for her is realizing she and her mother are scarily alike at age 12, in terms of attitude towards someone they eventually end up in a relationship with (Hana thought Rinji was an unreliable sissy as a genin; Sakura thought Naruto was an annoying idiot).
2. Minoru accidentally overloads a jutsu in a fight with his ex-teammate. He smooshes into the dirt, dusts himself off and immediately decides it's a good time for lunch, unaware he's in the past, just before the Ninja War his grandfather participated in.
Hilarity ensues when he's mistaken for a Sasuke from the back.
3.
Team 7 goes forward in time to the third generation - some time shortly after the grandson Minoru gets Hokage position. Something unseen on the training ground attacks and drives them through the bushes and then Hasuka's team comes charging in to handle it. Hasuka, after dryly joking she didn't realize there was anyone else with her little brother's dorky haircut, sends the three genin back to Hokage Tower to report. Minoru thinks he's being pranked.
Hilarity ensues when he realizes he isn't.
I do know there were some spectacular reactions and misunderstandings, particularly in the latter case, that were only cleared up when either Rinji or Hana appeared and explained things. In particular, Sakura had the best ones, especially at age 12, because she'd assume one thing and then have it turned on its head when the truth is revealed. A lot of it, though, was very dependent on who went and
when. Obviously, Sakura and Naruto at 16 won't react the same way as when they were 12. The middle one did have one tentative encounter with Madara that did not end well - neither party was pleased. So yeah, I tend to treat it as crack and let Sakura and Naruto freak out about it.
I really think, though, that Naruto and Sasuke would bicker over which family their respective child will join.
(Originally, though, in the first drafts for the doujinshi, the third generation didn't exist. When they did appear, only one of them, Tsubaki, was supposed to have the Sharingan. I later extended it to the other two, when I realized Uchiha eyes are actually grey and that would put them under a light color category, but that's neither here nor there.)@_@;;; so yeah.
