I actually really liked this chapter, because we get to see that in spite of all his growth, Naruto's cockiness still gets the best of him sometimes:
Naruto: Don't underestimate Sage Mode!
Pain: Haha, stupid kid, I'm sucking out your chakra, what NOW?!
I think its actually enough to make some whiners (no one on THIS forum, of course
) stop complaining about Naruto's growth, at least a little bit. It shows that even though he's grown up ALOT, Naruto is still not all the way there yet (and i'm not just talking about his fighting skills), that he still makes dumb mistakes sometimes.
Looking back at the chapter (after getting over my mind being blown by Hinata actually having more than one panel), this really isn't as much of a naruhina moment as I thought it was.
Yes, Hinata cares and worries about Naruto. Of course she does! She's his friend, right?
Also, Hinata has gotten some of the least character development in Shippuden, despite being a pretty popular character.
So it makes sense that Kishimoto would give her some important screen time.
I just wish it wasn't during such an important moment. That's just the Narusaku fan in me, I guess, wishing that it was Sakura going: "Oh no, Naruto's in trouble!" Then going and kicking Pain's a**, giving Naruto time to recover his strength.
I really hope Kyuubi doesn't come in. I among those who believe that one day Naruto will find a way to use the Kyuubi's strength to aid him in battle (because it's been not so subtly hinted that that's what the Yondaime had in mind), but he hasn't even thought about that recently, and I personally don't want another "Kyuubi takes over and Naruto goes out of control" moment.
Don't get me wrong, the first one was amazing (Narusaku = love), but I think it would lower the importance of that moment. Naruto said that he didn't need the Kyuubi anymore, because he couldn't control it and he didn't want to hurt his friends (*cough* Sakura *cough*), and thus far, he hasn't used the Kyuubi in battle, though it has manifested itself for brief moments during training.
Personally, I hope Naruto pulls something amazing out of his sleeve and makes Pain pee his pants.
