#963638 Masashi Kishimoto Reveals The Truth about the Ending

That moment you remember the date too late. You got me, ugh.

#963442 Whats your OTP now that NS was given the pipe?

And it wasn't even one of those love-hate relationships you see in romance stories. If Harry wasn't there, Ron and Hermione would have NEVER interacted.

THIS. This so much. It likens to SS in that regard. Harry is to Ron and Hermione what Naruto is to Sasuke and Sakura. Without them being present in some capacity, neither pairing happens.

#963428 If the ending/series were to be redone...how?

Posted by RidiculouslyBored on 24 March 2018 - 11:54 PM

Keep part 1 exactly as it is, it was absolutely flawless, despite how much the characters infuriated me at times.

1. No Itachi redemption or retcon for the slaughter of the clan. It created so many problems and plot holes and it pains me to say that because I love Itachi.

2. Have Naruto learn from Jiraiya something besides Shadow Clone, Kurama spamming, and Rasengan techniques. Guy should be a ninjutsu specialist, all things considered.

3. Hard work takes precedence as a key theme instead of destiny/fate rearing its ugly head.

4. Orochimaru remains the big bad and the end game boss.

5. No reincarnation or alien storylines

6. Pairings:

Naruto/Sakura
Sasuke/Karin
Ino/Chouji
Neji/Tenten
Hinata/Lee or Kiba
Shikamaru/Temari
Shino/OC or single

#960043 The Great Naruto Discussion Thread

I can't blame Hinata for any faults or her character issues, I lay it solely at the feet of Kishimoto. He did NOTHING with her. She was literally created to be a moe figurehead for the series and Naruto's wife/fangirl. I can't blame her for what the writer(s)did to her. He/They ruined so many characters simply by neglect or mishandling and have thus created this fracture in the fan base because of it. You have fans that hate Sakura, Sasuke, Naruto, and/or Hinata depending on their interests and preferences which is a shame and speaks even more to how badly they screwed this all up.

#959736 NaruSaku 2018 Fic List

Posted by RidiculouslyBored on 07 January 2018 - 06:16 PM

Same rules as the 2017 list.

https://m.fanfiction...ero-s-Come-Back - Who doesn't love Wubbzy? One shot.

https://m.fanfiction...nd-Naruto-Story - One to keep an eye on. Author warned that it would get dark and deal with mature themes.

#959732 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

Posted by RidiculouslyBored on 07 January 2018 - 05:34 PM

NaruHina is one of those ships I'm somewhat conflicted on. I don't hate it and at one point I was just fine with it happening (although NaruSaku was always my primary ship post time skip). I don't even dislike her or NaruHina as a whole. If I'm looking at it with some objective subjectivity (lol), it's not the worst pairing I have seen in fiction. That said, the canon perfectly highlights why they aren't a great fit together. I don't even need to regurgitate the reasons, the evidence is plain as day.

For me, NaruHina is that cute couple that meet in high school, date for a year or two, split amicably, and remain great friends for the rest of their lives with the story of the two dating being told to their children at a gathering of friends and family years later and met with laughs and nostalgic smiles...I might have to write a fanfic for that.

Reminder that Sakura still believes Sasuke tried to kiss her on the bench when they first got assigned to teams. Naruto still hasn't told her that he technically complimented her forehead, her biggest insecurity during that time when she was a child.

It still annoys me that people who support the canon end pairings will act as though it didn't happen or it wasn't an important event. It is just summarily swept under the rug and not addressed, or even worse, marginalized as just some innocuous event with no bearing on characterization or plot.

About 2 and half hours to go for me but Happy New Year to all.

#959293 Boruto: The NeverEnding Prologue Chapter 19

Posted by RidiculouslyBored on 30 December 2017 - 02:41 AM

...I don't even know what is going on here anymore. This used to be about ninjas. Now it's Star Wars. They're changing the established rules for the world they created for...I don't even...why? Aliens, lightsabers, Boruto Skywalker and SaLeia (which is an eerie parallel now that I think about it, even down to the "kiss"). This would be funny if it wasn't sad.

And the BoruSumi vs BoruSara shipping war has no real fire behind it. Everyone is either drifting away from the Boruto fandom or watching it with one eye from the distance. I would feel bad for both sides if this all didn't feel like such a troll.

#957736 Opinions on Sasuke

Posted by RidiculouslyBored on 08 December 2017 - 08:13 PM

Ugh...

Sasuke Uchiha is one of the hardest characters for me to admit that I like only because of the writer(s) who seemed to be very biased towards his character. I got Uchiha fatigue after a while and he was a big part of that. Almost everything became about him post time skip. Naruto and Sakura became Sasuke obsessed and everything was about getting him back when the story probably would have been better served if they hadn't gone that route.

His decisions were understandable, he had some of the most memorable scenes in the entire story, and his development was solid (one could make the argument that he got the most development of any of the main cast of characters). To say nothing of his battles which I enjoyed.

That said, most of his past actions get glossed over too easily for my personal liking. I don't feel that he was ever TRULY punished for anything he had done. Everything had a reason/excuse for why it happened when it happened as it pertained to him.

He gets some of the best moments in the series. Naruto and peers were made to look inferior/incompetent whenever he was on the screen. He can do no wrong, he's the stoic bad boy who gets everything. The power, the girls, the looks, etc.(a bit shallow perhaps but when I'm reading a shounen manga, my priorities change).

Obviously his circumstances weren't ideal but it just all became so melodramatic after a while. He exhausted me.
