The First Naruto chapter came out on October 4th, 1999, and if we skip to when Hinata first showed up in chapter 34, which came out on June 19th, 2000.

 

Now if we look at the anime which started in 2002 in October, the 3rd had Hinata in the first episode.

 

Clearly, this shows right from the start, SP had favoritism toward Hinata. Now this might not be true, and I could be overthinking this, but I think SP was trying to set up Hinata the moment they got their hands on this manga thanks to all the filler that had Hinata and painted her in a better light than all the other girls.

 

Hinata was pretty much just a minor character with regular animation during Part 1. Hinata and Neji's fight was nothing special.

 

Pierrot started to use her much more in the  fillers missions arcs after Sasuke left around 2006

At this point was clear Pierrot wanted to use Hinata as a fanservice character and a possible pairing to Naruto since SS at the time was too strong.

 

The most ridiculous Filler was the one where she  was dancing naked on a lake and Naruto watching her.

could someone explain why the budget affects animation and their art?

I'm a little confused on that myself.

This question puzzled me more than I thought it would. Have none of you had a limited amount of money to work with in order to complete a project? Or even just to buy something.

Like any project you have limited resources to complete the task. In this case it's a team that gets an order of a certain amount of episodes that must be completed by a specific date. And they get an amount of money to work with to do the job. Everything has to fit within that amount of money from salaries to equipment, outsourcing to other people what you can't do internally, licensing, etc. and by done until you were told to.

 

With the Hinata confession episode they used a lot of resources for it. Adding brand new scenes, making sure they're all drawn and animated, extra lines for the actors, more time was spend on it, better animators, etc.

That's why I say they spend their budget on Hinata's episode. More work, care and resources was put into it than the fight that happened after.

In an ideal world people would have all the time and resources to achieve anything, but that's not really the case in this world.

Sometimes you have to make sacrifices and we saw what they chose to sacrifice.

It reminded me what was going on with the Dead or Alive series with its creator, Tomonobu Itagaki, when he was leading Team Ninja for Tecmo. During his run of developing the games and spin-offs, Itagaki made a weird comment that "it is okay in Japan to sexualize girls like Kasumi as opposed to the West". Back then, Kasumi and Ayane were 17 and 16 year old respectfully. However, when the games were localized for the West, their ages were stated N/A. Same for Kokoro when she debuted in DOA4 as she was 16. This all changed when 5 came out, thanks to the 2-year time skip for the plot (but then again, we then have Marie Rose, Honoka and later NiCO, legitimate lolicon characters).  Promotional materials for DOA1 (PS1 and Saturn Openings) and DOA 2 had Kasumi nearly naked. And also Kasumi's "controversial" 4 ending of her dreaming as a mermaid, topless. At one point, hackers managed to find a naked 3D model of Kasumi in DOA2 and made her playable which caused Itagaki and Tecmo legal actions.

 

So I don't know how people let their taboo fantasies to come forth without controversy. Come to think of it, why didn't anyone shot back at SP back then for the waterfall scene?

This filler helped Hinata/nH to get most of her fanboys.  But to be fair Sakura was sexualized too and many more others characters. Tsunade was the boobs queen.

I don't think animes have problems with this type of fanservice. 

The Hinata scene was nothing sexual or explicit. 

Pierrot tried to make the scene "pure" as possible.

Also most of the sakura bath scene don't have her sexulised, the 101st filler episode of naruto arguably might be taking it too far.

As for hinata you just have to look at the road to sakura Chinese outfit they gave for sexulised fanservice they gave her.

Kishimoto said Sakura wasn’t popular according what some people told him before 2012.

But now Kishimoto was proud of her  and himself as a writer.  

 

 

So guys do you think Sakura would managed to become so popular if she ended Alone or a NaruSaku Ending?

Im just excited that Minato is first!

Its gonna be interesting to see what kind of story were gonna get from his perspective and getting to know about him and how he developed his jutsu.

I hope we get to know about his teams mates that will be great!

Don't know if this has already been discussed, but in the final voting results, Minato came in first place, Sakura was in third and Hinata was in tenth.

him saying hes proud as a writer doesnt necessarily equate to him liking the ending he was forced to do. And what you mean? If it was a NaruSaku ending, he would be buying his own island right about now with his wife and cat as rich as he would be. Probably wouldnt have to worry about writing a thing again.

If you break it down by gender sakura won in both age groups for females and for males the top picks were minato, itachi, and shisui but sakura was 5th place among male voters in their 20s (people in their 20s made up 60 percent of the voters if i remember right)

Damn, I do wish we also voted for others, so Hinata wasn't even in the top 10; not sure if we could have voted more than once, but it seems Hinata fans came out in droves to vote for Hinata.
