Nah, Nomura clarified that all Riku was doing was acting on Repliku's desire to protect and help Namine. No romantic connotations there.

I've heard that the paopu stuff supposedly isn't meant to be romantic. Like what? It's been pretty much established from the beginning that it was. Hell, Sora and Riku are basically fighting over Kairi in the first game. Just because Kairi and Sora don't outright say they love each other doesn't mean it can't be romantic.

That's the rhetoric SoRi fans on Tumblr are spinning because they're in denial and want to downplay the romantic symbolism of Paopu fruit. To add to the delusion, they even tried to accuse Kairi of being a bad friend to Riku for not sharing it with him. The Japanese VAs in the newest KH Ultimania even said that the Paopu scene was meant to convey Sora and Kairi's feelings for each other. They even mentioned that Nomura had them act out an alternate scene without the Paopu promise because he was still debating whether he wanted Sora and Kairi to be official in this game or the next.

And yeah, Riku's Japanese VA confirmed that Riku had a thing for Kairi.

That doesn't suprise me. Just glad Nomura didn't learn from Kishi and paired them together even though I will take RiKai over SasuSaku anyday because at least Riku treats her right.

Well, the paopu got in so I guess he decided to make them official. I don't like when authors cater to the shipping crowd, but considering how Sora and Kairi were built up from the first game, it would have been dumb to not do it.

 

 

He did in the first game definitely, but he clearly gave up because he knew they liked each other.

Riku letting go of Kairi is what Kishi should have done with Hinata letting go of Naruto. It would have gave her character development.

Given that Sora would be the type to devote as much of free time with his children and wife as possible and considering the verbal asskicking he gave Xehanort about his actions and goals, BD would finally get the wake up call that he so desperately needed. And if that doesn't work, *Sora obliterates the Boruto timeline, travels back to a point where Naruto isn't a hypocritical idiot and slaps sense into him.

*I'm not joking, Nomura explained in KH3 Ultimania that Sora was rewriting reality itself by misusing PoW to retrieve his friends' hearts and sending them back in time where their bodies still existed. That's why everyone returned to the exact same spot they started before they were killed.

Yup, but just to warn ya: It is the most game-breaking weapon/transformation in the entire game, and I would recommend waiting until Critical Mode comes out to get the most out of it.
