So, I have been thinking about Minato and his era lately....

Classmates — Outside of Kushina, I can't think of many. But wouldn't their friends and classmates should still be around and active in the village at the time Naruto is a teen (at the time of the manga). But all I can think of are Ino, Shikamaru and Chouji's dads.

Minato's elite guards — Much later in the manga we learned that Raido, Genma and Iwashi were Minato's elite bodyguards — which is nuts because the look to be Kakashi and Asuma's age. And literally show no exceptional powers at all, at least not strong enough to defend one of the strongest/fastest men alive.

Namikaze clan — Where are they? Really. This dude is so fast he awes everyone who meets him. So...where did his power come from (like what's his personal story or was he just a straight up prodigy like Itachi), where are the rest of his family, and what is this history of his clan's power?

Kushina — I used to think Kushina was an orphan as well, but in reading the wiki page about her, it seems that they've intermarried quite a bit with the Senju over the generations. Which is what's crazy — Naruto's mother is an outsider clan (from their own long-lost country) but with many family members probably still in and around Konoha, and with a secret clan compound somewhere outside the village. While Minato's family was apparently from Konoha, but there is apparently no one left and no info to be passed down (even though he was the youngest kage, fastest man in history, etc).

(Really, it should be Kushina who's the complete outside orphan, while Minato and his family should be the one with the hidden legacy left to be discovered by Naruto. (Sort of like Harry Potter with James and Lily.) But aside from some sparce facts about their lives, neither Minato nor Kushina are given much background unfortunately.)

So just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on Minato and his era. For me, from everything I've seen in the manga, it seems like Naruto, the orphan, is the only son of Minato, the orphan, and any legacy that's to be uncovered would be from Kushina's side. Thoughts?

I just read over the wiki pages myself, interesting that Minato really is shrouded in vagueness in terms of family background.

I kind of like that it's not really detailed, personally. I personally imagine his clan as insignificant, or not really having a prominent history in the ninja field, akeen to Sakura's family. I don't really imagine him a prodigy, it wouldn't fit too well with Kushina's initial thoughts of him if he was I think. Instead, he worked hard, and realized his own technique and talent that astounded all who knew him.

"Clan", so much for the word, so few for the deeds. Uchiha was a clan, they had even a stucture given to them (Military Police or what it was?). Hyuga (ugh.) Clan with 2 brunches, MIA after part 1. Akimichi, Nara and etc. all those "clans" are families with 3 to 4 members at best. Namikaze what? Uzumaki what? Senju what? Yeah, "50 clans in Konoha" my ass.

Yeah, I kinda agree with N01 here. Most of other clans besides what is shown or told about Uchiha, Uzumaki and Hyuga are only a family that shows their children a technique that has gone through generations, but can't be really called "a Clan", tbh.

It's really cool how late Senju was showed the only clan that could stand to Uchiha, but after 2 dead brothers... Tsunade is only member of Senju? Mito and 2 generations later Kushina? It's all written so slackly, Kushina and Minato both lived in Konoha, one would think that their relatives would still be alive...

Sadly all development and resources was put into the Uchiha famous : They have too much love that they starting to develop dark chakra and resulting in sharingan and become evil B.S. And isn't in war arc tobirama said that minato copy his body flicking jutsu ? i remember Naruto said that tobirama is copying his dad jutsu but tobirama reply that he is the one that copying his jutsu.

An out of control man needs a strong woman to control him.

And even a violent woman will become soft and tender to the man she love.

Obviously, Ichiraku was the true mastermind of the series and made the clans either disappear, or was the one who forced Kishi to focus so much on the Uchiha's so as not to spoil his true crime and identity.

Pretty much everything sans Uchiha is shrouded in mystery, you even have to wonder how the Senju managed to be their rival for centuries yet you look at the clan members and only the first Hokage stands out, even a weak member like Obito ended up being the main antagonists for most of the manga, so how was Senju not wiped out before? because even the first Hokages abilities don't appear to be a true bloodline as only one clan member had it, and that may even just be because he was Asura reborn. Also how did they get wiped out? Why do we get so much about Uchiha's but no information on how the strongest clan in the village went all but extinct?

I don't know where the information about Senju and Uzumaki interbreeding often comes from, the manga only states the two clans have close links together and the first Hokages wife was a Uzumaki, it's largely just assumed that this was a common practice between the two clans. However if there are members of Uzumaki around they could have been wiped out in this unknown disaster they faced. However we do know there are survivors from the invasion by the unknown forces (though many do assume it was Mist when Madara was Mizukage) arescattered across the globe. Kushina was a orphan, her family did die during that invasion, though Senju would be a distant relative thanks to Mito, but I don't think she was a orphan when she joined the village, her parents were alive when she joined Konoha, atleast as far as we know...but because she isn't a Uchiha we aren't going to get a detailed breakdown. (Seriously not even the name of village or clan that attacked them.)

We know nothing about the Namikaze clan, or if it even was a clan, for all we know it could be name given to Minato by who ever found him or given to him at the orphanage, we don't know when he became a orphan or anything, even his teammates names or if they died, Come to think of it it's strange how that line of teams had atleast one Orphon in the team,3rd Hokages team had 2 Orphans, Jiaraya's team have atleast one orphan, Minato's team sounded like all three could have been orphans, and Kakashi had two.

Now thinking about it, didn't the manga have a really negative message at the end? The family always come second to the village, it doesn't hit home until the timeskip, but the message we are told for the manga is importance family even if it's not by blood, but the reality is Family is only important after the village's priorities, Tsunade should get over her issues for the village, Minato and Kushina should give up their lives so the village survives, Asuna should not be mad at his father because he was doing it for the village, Naruto is OK being a lousy father because for the village, Sasuke should not see his wife and kid for over a decade because the Village's safety comes first...pretty much we are told Family is important but the message seems more like Family is only important as long as it doesn't come in the way of the village and it's safety. Sorry went on a tangent then.

As for the bodyguards? Well they are all useless aren't they? The third Hokages guards were useless when Orichimaru invaded, Tsunade's are in the same league, look at the war, the other Kage's guards were useful in the war, I don't even know if Tsunade's guards were ever mentioned. I think that tidbit was thrown in to make the popular Gemna more relevent but it really just made him look like a douche as someone who would have guarded Kushina throughout her pregnancy but ended up ignoring him once he was born.

The manga could have been so much better if the focus was not placed so much on the Uchiha and over a third of the manga dedicated to a war no one really cared for. There is so much backstory that could have been delved into but you only get that if you are the enemy.

I thought about the topic as well, tricksie. Sadly when I asked about that, somebody suggested me some reasons or "not everything needs to be explained" :fu:

Would like to know about Senju and Uzumaki clan. They seem to be interesting.

More like family (name), yes?

Even a rock has something it can be used for. There's a way for them to shine that even a jewel can't compare to - Sakamochi Tatsuma :lulz:
