I guess it would depend on what part of the story they might expand.

 

If the Itachi anime took off, then it could be early Team 7 NS moments.

 

Or it could be the intervening years between the end and when Naruto becomes Kage, when the novels were written. 

 

Or it could be during the war arc, a filler arc before the end, or a genjutsu spin-off from the war.

 

Or it could be something new, that we haven't seen before: like some new character stumbles across the formula for the genjutsu and reinacts the whole dream world on the next generation, including Naruto and Sakura. 

 

Or if they broaden the Itachi universe, making him interact with the Akatsuiki, Kabuto and Orochimaru, there could be some genjutsu sequences that come from those stories. Where Orochimaru is testing it out and a young Team 7 stumbles into it. And it's left to Itachi to save them, and return them to Konoha, forgetting their dreams and Itachi's involvement.

 

So there are thousands of ways they could bring back NS. And they did such a bad job on the ending — so many giant plot holes, including the genjutsu theory that the whole war is an illusion — there are just tons and tons of ways they could reintroduce NS to the story and have it still make sense, whether they give an alternate NS ending or not.

 

Hope this helps. It's a bit like coming up with fanfic ideas. But the ending was so slapdash and open, that it's not hard. The only thing that was focused on was Hinata's dreams and goals. Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke's actual interactions were left almost untouched. Just a few sentences here and there. And the forehead poke from Sasuke, which was a familial gesture, not a lover one, so it's easy to work around. But no big declarations of love, no big rejections. No nothing. It's still wide open if they wanted to change it. Which, if the money was there, I wouldn't put it past them!!

 

edit: We could even do a new thread for theories on how NS might make another future appearance in the franchise, if anyone else wants to. Be good ideas for fanfics, at least!

 

I'm with you on the alternate ending. but this thing about just showing NS moments and and still have it end on NH is just to wrong and cruel. why would you want that as a fan?? the ending will still make no sense and Naruto and Sakura becoming scum wont change.

They sell ok, not great. witch is very telling. The last Boruto movie was advertised as the final Naruto movie once again tricking the fans.

A million sell is good if not great.
It only show that the manga is still popular despite the lack of quality.
I don't think burito/naruto movie will have onepiece/gintama movie number.

It's still popular, but if it's not good, it will show you noticeable decline. So it must be good or else. The one day I realized is that this does leave a potential if Kishi go back to Naruto for reason like anniversary, he may go back to do something before Boruto or chapter 700. Boruto is now being used, so like GT, the original maker may not want to go there and start doing beforehand because not only it's being used, but it is a safe route since he will use the characters the fans mostly familiar.

I agree.
It may not as popular as the other million seller manga like onepiece, snk, and some shoujo, But it still popular.
It's popular enough to make a million manga, to keep the anime airing, and to make sequel.
People asking how can this manga not dead and still milking, because it is popular and popularity bring you money.

I mean look at bleach, why sj doesn't axed the manga? Because the manga still sell well, even when it's not in the same number like when it's in prime state.

Yes, and for a hero-based story, where the true golden boy (Naruto) is never tested, never challenged, in fact largely sidelined in his own plot, it really revolves around the villains more than the true heroes.
 
We know the backstories of all the villains. We're treated to filler arcs where they are in some way redeemed, or at least shown in a sympathetic light, before they die. Kishimoto, and his handlers, are in love with the villains. 
 
When he should have delved deeper into Naruto's character/storyline/backstory, Kishimoto dropped Naruto to focus on Obito, Sasuke and Madara. 
 
So it doesn't surprise me that Naruto has turned a blind-eye to Orochimaru. The whole story is geared toward accepting and idolizing the villains. Naruto is just following suit. You're right, he absolutely should be impeached or at least shamed. But since the bad guys are the true heroes, Naruto's behavior has become acceptable.

Yeah, Naruto's back story was always only referenced and never fully shown.

I always wondered, who took care of baby Naruto? Where was Jiraiya? How did Naruto get clothes and furniture, if the entire village hated him?

Kishimoto told the story in such a was, that you would need to throw out common sense to understand it. I mean, why would Kakashi be a neglectful sense I, if he lost his team? Wouldn't he be more team oriented, instead? Why didn't Sasuke have ANBU guards watching over him 24/7, after the massacre? Or even, after it was revealed that Orochimaru attacked him at the Chenin exams? Why didn't the Sandaime tell everyone who Naruto was?

Kishimoto made his characters act a certain way, just to write in idiotic clichès, like hated by all, lonely childhood, and all that crap. Which just further deteriorates the story, cause things stop adding up, if you just take the time to look back on the series.

No anbu for sasuke after chunin exam because they use it for mission. But I agree with you why don't they put anbu to watch sasuke.

I agree with the rest and I will add:
Why sasuke only learn fire justu in academy years when it took him a month to learn chidori? It's clearly that sasuke is capable and elemental ninjutsu is learnable.
Where're jiraiya and kakashi when naruto need them the most? Naruto could learn some few trick if they care about them. I mean they're close with minato, right?
Why none tell naruto who's his parent?
Why sasuke graduate at the same time with naruto?

Man, Salad's gone through three costume changes already. The first one matched Karin's the second one was a replica of Sakura's, and now she's in this short dress and high heels.

 

Edit; so apparently Kishimoto's assistant, Ikemoto, is drawing the manga, while the guy who wrote the Boruto movie is writing this, and Kishimoto is just "supervising" the new series.

 

I just came to see how  everyone here is doing..so i might as well get a good laugh out of these news.

Looks like this series will finally focus on the MYSTERY genre of the story. yeah this Naruto / Boruto series ended up being a mystery anime more than shounen.. since 90% of whats happening in the story it is a MYSTERY, like i don't know whats happening lol

Kishi is doing one shot. Assistant and some writer doing the series.

Kind of surprise the pairing or Hinata don't get mentioned in fans poll for anime/manga. No wait...I'm not. The last time I heard from Naruto's related was something with hair style, which Neji won in further down place (irony...). Though...Saitama won somewhere too.......

Anyway, I don't know, I feel like USA is minority for liking NH/SS like god like pairing in compare to other series. Like Japanese fanbase probably thinking we are crazy. Actually, they blamed us for not recognizing Gintama, which I will say it here:

Anyway, because of hearing of them or Naruto at times from sites, you would think they're the most popular one in Japan. We couldn't be any wrong...

I think casual fan as a whole doesn't care about pairing.

Just about everything in Japan poll. The hair one, well that was recent. Saitama got me laughing. USA did, and that's where the care factor plays in. Not one bit is telling me Japanese wants this. They could hate the character, but pairing is different as odd it is. Nisekoi and Naruto (in a different way) got this treatment.
