#901098 Hinata vs Pain

Posted by Narufan85 on 05 February 2016 - 07:28 PM

I've posted about this a lot so some of you are probably sick of this, but it would have been so very easy for Kishi to make NH a legitimate, believable romance. There are the seeds there in Part I for a good, developed pairing. By developing Hinata as a character and having her follow through on her desires from Part I (Prove herself to her father, fix her clan, earn Naruto's respect) you not only enrich and grow her character but the relationship, too.

If you gradually show Hinata's growth, then the fight against Pein isn't a suicide run, but a powerful moment that really DOES reflect the strength of the characters and the pairing.

I just wish Kishi had gone this route instead of retconning and reaching to legitimize your ships at the end.

Rex can't die (at least not until the time of RotJ) because he's been retconned into the original trilogy, though the other clones (Wolffe and Gregor) could.  Ahsoka could, as well, and it almost seems likely.  Any of the regular Rebels cast could die (I'm thinking Kanan is the most likely to die, as the "mentor" often dies in a show like this... though Kanan is kind of young for that archetype), but it's unlikely they'll kill EVERYONE off.

I doubt the death count in Rebels could match that in Clone Wars, even if the series became just as "adult" (ugh; I hate that word in this context) as its predecessor.  There aren't enough cast members to kill off as many named characters, nor as many pitch battles between thousands of people on both sides, and even in Clone Wars 90% of the deaths were unnamed clones and droids.  Depending on how long this series goes, though, it just might get that deadly.

Who is Rex and how was he retconned into the OT?

I suppose I come back to my original question: How can you justify any of the main characters surviving if they aren't mentioned at all in the Original Trilogy. I suppose you could justify it by saying Leia and Luke talked about them off screen, or that Ahsoka isn't "technically" a Jedi, but all of those ring hollow to me.

Having someone like Ahsoka or Ezra survive, to me, weakens the importance of Luke's entire OT narrative.

#900297 The 'Hinata' look and Naruto's popularity

Alexander.I think that is the backlash of the really (overly) aggressive feminism in the past few years.

Yeah. God forbid feminists stand up for what they believe in!

I don't know about that. I mean, how is it that over 70% of adult men in america are not married? Half of the complaints is because of the utterly one sided way the law deals with divorce were the men lose everything and the woman gains everything. While the other half is made up of complaints of women behaviour, with them being too confrontational, aggressive and emetionaly unstable.

We may complain about how Hinata is portrayed, but the truth is that western men treat her type as the desirable one in these days. Agreeable, accepting and doesn't complain about anything. Strong and independent woman scare off men, while the more feminine and meek types get more attention. And I can't deny that I see were they are coming from. I mean, I consider myself a MGTOW. After analyzing our current society, and deciding I have no interest in the relationship types it presents me.

There's a lot of MRA nonsense in this post. I can't decide what's more amusing, your rant about divorce courts or the fact that you brag about being a MGTOW. As for western men being scared off by strong independent women: I haven't found this to be the case at all. I also think it's very problematic that you see strong and independent women as unfeminine.

She doesn't have to be killed off. If we go by that logic. Then Kanan and Ezra also must go!

But they do. Otherwise how do you explain the fact that none of them are mentioned in Ep.4-7? I can't think of a plausible way to fit them into the continuity.

#899531 New Boruto Manga?

Posted by Narufan85 on 24 January 2016 - 01:45 AM

What will be interesting to me is whether Boruto the manga will be able to stand on its own, or if it will start to falter and have to bring back old characters to support it. Not just cameos here and there, but bringing back the some old character/storylines on a permanent basis.

I can't imagine Boruto will be able to survive without heavily involving the original generation.

What I'm curious about is whether or not the manga will be willing to confront the implication that, by virtue of having new arcs and new villains and new ninjas, Naruto failed in his dream of establishing peace.

#899529 Suicide Squad (2016)

Posted by Narufan85 on 24 January 2016 - 01:42 AM

Between the Suicide Squad trailer and the footage from the Wonder Woman film, I'm cautiously optimistic about DC.

I know it's en vogue to hate on Leto's Joker, but I like what I've seen so far.

#898695 Is Kylo Ren the Itachi of the Star Wars Universe?

Posted by Narufan85 on 18 January 2016 - 04:27 PM

I've seen a lot of Zuko comparisons. It's too early for me to make any sort of comparisons.

For what it's worth - I hope Ren does NOT have a redemption arc. It'd be a nice change of pace.

#898186 An outcast in the Naruto fandom

Posted by Narufan85 on 15 January 2016 - 04:39 AM

H&E is my fandom!  :grouphug:

This is how I feel. Outside of the community here and the few fics I still follow, I don't really consider myself part of the fandom anymore. I had to step out. I was way to legitimately upset over the ending.

#896916 My Final Realization Of What bothered Me About The Naruto Manga

Posted by Narufan85 on 08 January 2016 - 06:54 PM

Let us not forget that Sasuke was the one to give us the ending of Naruto's story, instead of Naruto himself

This is the biggest insult to me, as a reader. Far more than Sakura deciding to totally neglect Naruto after he fulfilled his POAL. It's the fact that the most moving lines at the close of the entire narrative are given to the guy who abandoned the village with no repercussions. Not the guy we've been following from page 1 that, you know, was the main character.

What an insult.

Based on her memory, she was still a small child when she was left on Jakku, so I doubt she had any prior training, and it's believed that she's Luke's daughter primarily because Disney Infinity 3.0 has Kylo Ren calling her "cousin".

It's been confirmed that Ren says "curses" not "cousin."

#896770 So who is Bolt REALLY gonna end up with?

Posted by Narufan85 on 07 January 2016 - 06:50 PM

I care so little about this series I seriously can't even muster an opinion.

Honestly, I hate Borutu. I don't think he should end up with anyone. Sarada is the only compelling character, even more so than adult Team 7. So if Sarada knew what was good for her, she'd get the first bus out of Konoha as fast as she could.

That's better than I can say, Tricksie. I can't stand Sarada. I admit it's probably a lot of left over malcontent over the fact that Naruto ended up being more about Sasuke and the Uchiha than the titular character. I wouldn't be shocked if Boruto ends up the same way.

#892523 New X-Men Trailer

Posted by Narufan85 on 11 December 2015 - 11:07 PM

A few follow up comments.

1: I realize she's SUPER BIG STAR right now, but why the hell isn't Lawrence blue? Rebecca Romijn was a better Mystique.

2: Sophie Turner is terrible. Her accent is bad.

3: Fassbender looks a bit like McKellan when he's hurling that stuff from the sky.
