He wanted to leave after that and go to the magazine where his original editor was editor-in-chief to do a sci-fi manga. Instead, he stuck as editor of Boruto a continuation of a series that he was drained on and was done with. Also he pissed off his wife, and his children don't respect him from what I heard. As well as pissed a majority of his Japnaese fanbase, and gain a pretty negative reputation as a mangaka. Is that punishment for enough you?

If you look at the ending and consider it as a possible window of the Mangaka giving us a glimpse of what his life had been like for years, he was the one in charge of creating the manga, (ie Hokage) the villagers were the fans that depended on him, the paperwork is the tight schedule he had to meet to get the manga out ever week. And the ending was his justification of why he spent so much time away from his family. Naruto marrying Hinata and Sasuke marrying Sakura, is him giving into the pressures of work and society and continuing the manga for years and not writing the story he wanted. Or you could say everything I said was BS and I was just going all meta on you.

You could say working on the manga was punishment enough for him, as it may have given him plenty of wealth, but he very likely rarely saw his own wife and children.

He doesn't need punishing, he wrote a bad ending and gave some damning interviews, if you have issues, the next work he publishes don't read it, don't even bother to acknowledge it, and if anyone asks don't recommend his work to anyone,

Your right, but if people honestly think he should be punished. I honestly think the blow-back from the ending was bad enough; his reputation is badly damaged in Japan making any new manga he makes a challenge, he upset his wife by not pairing the characters that represented them together, his kids haven't spent much time with him and now when he has the time they may have grown up without him or upset that he hurt their mother, and now he stuck being the editor of the sequel of a series he was drained on in order to keep it afloat. All this from thinking he was making the fans happy and they were going to make a lot of money off what they thought the fans wanted with a nH ending.

Is this really true? Can you provide the source for this :O?

You are absolutly right. The dude is in his own Boruto's dad limbo Hell. He can't leave the franchise even if he wants to. He gets bombarded with questions about the series and just lays in utter turmoil over it living it day by day...a prison of his own making. His credability lost or altered so that he still makes money, but he sold his soul to do it in a matter of speaking. All because he wanted to please a fanbase. He created his own hell. His own Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Now, SP just needs theirs now.

[Source]?

And can we just call the guy Naruto? Boruto's Dad is getting kind of old now.

That be misnaming the character. The guy with the whiskers before Chapter 700 is Naruto. The guy with the whiskers after Chapter 700 is Boruto’s Dad. They’re two different people.

Considering the quote was referring to Naruto's old adventures, the one before 700 was directly called Boruto's Dad.

It's funny for some folks, but if we're taking this joke to imply a character is OOC on a serious level, there's no real evidence of that.

I think you’re taking this way too seriously...

I don't know. Who would have believed that he would send a shadow clone to his kids birthday so he could stay back and do paper work? I didn't think he would do that until it happened.

I do think it's a bit much to hope for misfortune on someone for the crime of writing what people feel is schlock.
