...but hey, we have a lot of high draft picks this year! I think I'm looking forward to that as much as (if not more than) the actual season. >_>

We may have a shot at landing Ben Sheets, but I fear he may end up like every other high priced picthing free agent we signed this decade (Kevin Millwood, Chan Ho Park (dear God what were we thinking), well, you get the idea) as he is forced to pitch in the Texas heat and homerun happy stadium: a ERA that goes from 3 to near 5.
We couldn't pitch last year. We couldn't pitch the year before that and we probably won't be able to pitch this year. Pitchers do well before and after coming to Texas, but they stink while they're here. Truthfully, I can't remember a time in the last ten years where we haven't been near dead last in the league in ERA. We've had decent bullpens from time to time, but they inevitably breakdown from overuse every year.
If we have a good offense maybe we can float around 500 again or even have a shot at the wild card if it's really good and the picthing is even half way decdent.
I'm sensing a trend here....

You want to take Millwood off our hands like you did A-Rod?

That old fart? Sure, just about every other Pitcher on our team is a Dinosaur which is one of the reasons we haven't won a Title in 10 years....

I'm an M's fan too. Maybe they'll be able to do what the Rays did and turn years of sucking into greatness through a lot of top draft picks. One can only hope. I'd love to see Ichiro get something in return for all his hard work.
Rock on!

But you got Sabathia (though you lost Mussina (I wonder if True ever forgave him for bolting to the Yankees) and the rich mans Carl Pavano, A.J. Burnet. If your lucky he'll only spend half the time on the DL that Pavano did. You also got Texiera, though I can't say I was sorry to lose him a couple of years ago since his agent is Scott Boras. After A-Rod, Rangers management has been very averse to having his clients around. I think Millwood is the only person on the team with Boras as ageny,

Also, the Yanks just resigned Pettitte. So their rotation is now Sabathia, Pettitte, Burnett, Wang, and Chamberlain. Nice rotation, but name me a Yankees reliever outside of Mariano Rivera without looking it up.
In regards to Pavano - I can't believe I was ever upset that the M's lost out on him several years ago. We dodged THAT bullet!
And promptly got hit by Washburn, Silva, Bedard.... ugh.
