To be honest, I use to be a complete sasusaku fan. Back in part 1. Sakura was always my favorite character and I wanted her to win over Sasuke. And I shared her opinion of Naruto being a total annoyance.
BUT! As time went on I saw how well they were as a team, how much they care for each others well being, and my opinion slowly started to change.
AND! That's why I think this ship will work. Because my opinion changed with Sakura's. I use to wish that we saw more of Sasuke. I mean how could such a lame, loud mouth, Naruto be the lead, right? But now I care about Naruto more than all the other characters! I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the chapter when he gets better and we actually see him wake up!
So it was a slow transition but I'm finally here.

I have to say, your story reminds me of my own, I also used to like Sasusaku for that same reason even! and was iffy about Naruto. I didn't see it coming, but I started to really see those two in a different light... ( Naruto and Sakura) Naruto seemed like just the loudmouth, and and didn't seem to be able to get along with Sakura...at least at first... But really, We all came to love Naruto at pretty much same time as Sakura. ( her smiles, her way of thinking about him, her worries for him, her tears...etc..)
It's crazy to go back and realize that this is the same girl who couldn't stand him....Could it be that Naruto was actually made as a character to reach a goal and everyone doesn't see it at first? but the first one that does is Sakura. ( and us of course, reading it...)
I think that's why her moment at the Chunnin exam ( written part) is so touching. Cuse she wants him to keep his dream, even though that early in the series, it seemed like the silliest thing ever to support that adorable dork...she does, and it really means alot. (and I really wish Naruto could have seen it...)

I actually used that example (chunnin exam) as an example of how early Sakura had supported Naruto. My friend who is an NH fan said he didn't like Sakura because she never supported Naruto. That only Hinata did. But Sakura did since the near beginning!

Hey, welcome to H & E. This is a perfect place for an NS shipper, trust me on that. I guess its a bit late for a welcome , but its never too late, isn't it? . Even I am faced with a similar situation wherein all of my friends are NH shippers and I alone am an NS shipper. I eventually get tared with a tag of 'dumb' for supporting NS. But what I can say is, let them laugh to their hearts content now, since our time is about to come. Then it will be a revenge time for NS shippers 
(If at all anyone wants some). Its just a matter of time now(I hope) ^_^. Have fun here ^_^
