#511390 Naruto 662

Sasuke doesn't seem like he'd be a compassionate Hokage, more someone who believe's in the "eye for an eye" type of system

If Sasuke were to become Hokage, he'd be a lot like Danzou had he been a long-term Hokage.  Ohh the irony.

Anyone notice that Sakura isnt crying as much as Karin?

I think this is extremely powerful considering Sakura and Karin's personalities.  In this manga, Sakura is moved to tears far more easily than any other character, yet when Naruto might be close to dying she's doing her very best to hold in her tears --still, she can't stop them.  Karin usually holds in her emotions, but now as she's essentially racing against time to reach Sasuke, as she feels Sasuke's chakra fade away, she's lost it completely.  Well done on Kishi's part.

Question:

Do you want Sakura to get angry at Minato to leave this fate for Naruto? Granted that in the long run, he did good, but still, he had to suffer that. After all, even Naruto said, "It's whatever. My father is a Hokage, so whatever." He didn't say that exact way, but the tone is there.

If she were to find out, and if there was enough time, I'd want her to rage.

I usually don't care about what others say, but 662 was all about relationships.  Period.  That's all.  And not just romantic relationships.  There's no way around it, so I don't understand the annoyance some feel that some of us are focused upon relationships.

I’m aware that I might be teased BUT I still feel as if my analysis has been affirmed.  I mean the very fact that rock, or air, or whatever prevented Hinata from reaching Naruto nearly confirms all my Hinata and NaruHina analysis (I joke about it, but when analyzing it seriously there was no reason to include that, it would have been better for Hinata and NaruHina if there hadn’t been a moment).  So I almost feel like…ack…I’m reading the manga in the right way…maybe?

#508515 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

Posted by morgaine4 on 29 December 2013 - 09:36 PM

I'm in the same ship. I really can't see NaruHina for many reasons, though in this case, the family seems really hard to imagine. It just does.

We're all biased here, of course we'd think that NaruHina would seem unnatural.  For me there's a simple reason, Naruto's never shown romantic or sexual inclination to Hinata, there's been no change based on N---->H the way there has been based on S--->N.  I mean, Naruto found Haku attractive, but never showed romantic or sexual interest in Hinata.

I wasn't talking about the appearance of the picture, I was talking in general. Whenever I see a NH fanart, it seems forced and doesn't seems "natural" when you compare to what actually happens in the manga. When I said the picture looked "unnatural", I was talking about the atmosphere of the picture, the fact that Hinata looks out of place, not Hinata's look, Hinata herself. You know it's like this NH retouched picture from chapter 450 where they replaced Sakura with Hinata hugging Naruto, it looks so OOC, while with Sakura it was normal and natural to see it.

It always surprises me that a lot of NH fanworks I've come across (though NH has always sickened me, so I haven't looked at or read many fanworks, and it's been years since I have) give Hinata a personality more like Sakura's.  Like...why?  Why give Hinata and NH Sakura and NS' personality?  I'm all for enjoying whatever pairing one enjoys, I'll never blame and NH fan for enjoying NH, but if one's going to enjoy NS but with Hinata inserted as Sakura's personality clone, why not enjoy the real thing?

Having said that, if NS happens and SS and NH fans come up with fanfictions that include how bad Naruto and Sakura's relationships is, there's nothing wrong with that.  Let everyone have their fun, this really shouldn't be taken too seriously.  I know I'll make up a bunch of different things regardless of what happens in the manga (pairing-wise or otherwise).  The world is just too interesting not to come up with various ideas.

Logically speaking Sakura should be heavily involved for so many reasons, frankly all of Team 7 (including Sai) should be heavily involved when the prospect of Naruto's death comes up.  But pessimism is the safer emotion, less chance of disappointment if Kishi decides to defy logic and figure out a way to make it so that Sakura doesn't even know that Naruto's life is in danger.  Think about it, Sakura wasn't even allowed to interact with Edo Tensei Chiyo, when everyone was feeling Naruto's heart the moment Naruto thought of Chiyo highlighted Gaara's reaction with nothing from Sakura (though we did get to see Sakura holding Chiyo, so Kishi hasn't completely forgotten about that relationship).  I just think it's better not to assume Sakura will be in the chapter.  Haha.

I just remembered Yamato's words to Naruto: "If you want really to save Sasuke and protect Sakura, you must rely on your own chakra".

That's why I really hope that Naruto won't get the other half of Kurama (and a major reason I stopped reading was because I wasn't fond of the fact that Naruto could use biju mode without consequences).  I want to see him rely on his power, I want to see him achieve his dreams on his power, I want to see him surpass all the others (including Sasuke) without relying on Kurama.

It would seem very odd if Sakura isn't allowed to react and if it isn't more than a reaction considering she's the only character who has expressed interest in extracting the kyubi (that's who he was at that time) from Naruto, and the character who started crying when learning about the fate of those who have a biju extracted COMBINED with the fact that throughout this war she (and Kurama) have been the characters who have been worried about Naruto's personal health.  Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if Sakura gets no attention.  If Bee and Giyuki transported the injured to safety, for all we know Sakura's been transported as well in order to heal everyone.  I'm honestly of two minds.  Kishi's style (especially recently) is very specifically to connect what's going on at the moment to something that has already happened.  When Naruto and Sakura worked to save Shikamaru it directly connected to Shikamaru's willingness to sacrifice himself during the Sound/Sand invasion (which Naruto and Sakura could do nothing about).  If Gaara is involved in helping/saving Naruto, it'll directly connect to the fact that Chiyo was able to bring Gaara back to life because Naruto provided his chakra.  But with Sakura specifically, I don't know.  It makes so much sense for her to be involved --her reaction to Chiyo's words, the fact that her actions led to Chiyo's decision to save Sakura and Gaara-- BUT sometimes it seems that Kishi goes out of his way not to include her...so...well if it happens awesome, if not I'll just be annoyed as I often am.  Haha.

From what the chapter is telling us, Naruto isn't dead or going to die. Zetsu said that they won't die, and Gaara didn't die when Shukaku was extracted from him.

Gaara did die, Chiyo brought him back to life.

Anyway srsly every chapter you guys are saying "where's Sakura?" or when Sakura will show up?

srsly can you guys stop?

Seriously and honestly?  No, I can't stop.

The war arc has been poorly executed (IMO), it's been tedious to read through --though it's much better when read as a whole-- it just needs to end.  Obito was dealt with terribly and I can't bring myself to care about or feel the tension that Madara has supposedly brought to the story.  I know that many are excited about how "boss" Madara is or whatever, but I don't feel it.  Madara will lose in the end, he might take some characters down, he might take some of the biju down, he might even extract Kurama which might force Minato to seal his have of Kurama into Naruto or something, but ultimately Madara's going to lose.  This "tension" just isn't affecting me a bit, I'm just bored and this point and the Sakura's potential is all that interests me, but I know that we'll get very little with the character (until team 7 drama is at the forefront whoop-de-doo *throws confetti which adds to the ridiculous amount of plastic pollution in the ocean*) --I'm annoyed, not surprised.

Naruto and Sasuke are way too OP for me to really give a darn about either of them (I like them both well-enough), but I'm not interested, the other members of K11 have been reduced to minions.  I was a bit excited for Sai and Gaara, but the main reason I'm sticking with the manga because I want to know what happens to Sakura.  I found out that Neji died (which is the reason I started re-reading the manga after about a 2 year break) because I was curious about what happened with Sakura.  I don't want Sakura to get random panel placings, but it's incredibly frustrating that there are constant opportunities to insert Sakura into the story, but Kishi refuses to do so.  Other than Yamato, all the members of Team 7  and Kakashi are involved in the front lines --aside from Sakura that is-- and I'm sick of it.  Though, you probably won't read many more complaints from me.  I'll probably read to the end of the year cliffhanger then take another break (depending on what happens in the next 3 chapters, and wait till the war is over or the manga is finished to pick Naruto up again, it reads much better that way anyway...).

Someone mentioned Yamato, and yes it's true that Yamato has been missing but member of Team Kakashi or not Yamato isn't supposed to be as important of a character as Sakura --the supposed heroine-- is supposed to be.  Yamato doesn't have much story potential, unless it's related specifically to Orochimaru I guess, his power-ups, his training, his family etc etc don't really matter.  Kishi teased us in 632 with the possibility of a true SasuNaruSaku team-up, but I'm still waiting.  Chances are Sakura won't be relevant again until Team 7 drama is brought to the forefront (and I hope I'm wrong) but I'd like to see what she can do beside her original team.  Seriously, are Naruto and Sasuke going to work together with...........a re-assembled Hidan before we see them team up with Sakura?

And to answer the question is it really important that the symbols resemble each other? Yes. There are two modes of storytelling going on here: the literal words, and the visual art. Kishimoto has to be both, but as I've said before, the art comes across without translation, so it's important not to disregard it. We agonize over the turns of phrase, but the imagery conveys just as much of a message. And Kishi has shown many times over that he has planted images that are only unveiled to have significance much later on.

Plus, one would assume that Kishi would pay more attention to detail with respect to the way he draws Hashirama than he would draw random unknowns back during the chuunin exam.

It would also be interesting if Sakura got her own form of mokuton (a way to manipulate her chakra in such a way to use her own form mokuton), cherry blossoms are prunus tree flowers and if I remember correctly Chatte has some evidence that throughout the manga Sakura has been the one to comment upon or react to mokuton.  But I doubt it'll happen, or that she'll get sage mode --though the question still remains how and when will we see slug sage mode?  I think she'll have something, her seal release was too low key for it to have been all she'll receive, but I don't know that I believe that she'll anything other than the seal.

A role and power-up for Sakura would make complete and utterly sense. I just don't have enough faith in this author that he'll actually write it. She'll get something for sure, just not by the standard of any other main-character. My hope have been sucked up during the all the time I've waited and waited. I don't know where to place her anymore, it's like she's waving between being a main and a side-character.

Honestly, I think even Naruto has been written as more of a plot device than a character.  Haha.  But, yeah I agree with you.

OBITO IS A COWARD, and as far as I'm concerned Obito didn't understand why Nagato changed his mind.  Honestly, I was disgusted with the suggestion (Obito's conversation with Naruto can't even compare, Nagato actually challenged Naruto's ideals, his beliefs, Obito and Naruto seemed to be focused on whether or not Naruto would stick to his beliefs?  "No you won't"  "Yes I will"...ugh, Obito is such a child...like couldn't Obito challenge Naruto's worldview?  Wouldn't he have been the best suited, much better than Nagato since Nagato was the protector of his team while Obito actually was the dreamer of his...but...oh well).  Had he said that he's using Geddo Rinne Tensei been because he has that opportunity and because it's the best possible way for him to try to make up for the crap he's done in the past, I might have a different opinion, but as it stands it seemed as if he was too much of a coward to face the consequences (which, honestly is something that seems to run in the Uchiha line.  I'm actually a weirdo who likes Sasuke, but I think Sasuke is a coward and Itachi, Itachi was totally a coward...it's why he was willing to resort to mind control).

/end rant

And it's weird... think back to Naruto's reaction to Zabuza.  He was tearfully outraged at the way Zabuza treated Haku, and sickened by Zabuza's callousness.  Naruto was a lot younger then, and a lot less experienced with war and life in general, and yet he seemed to have a more defined sense of right and wrong back then.

Sasuke has defected, killed, plotted, betrayed, waded into the deep end of insanity and tried to kill Naruto's love, and yet when Naruto had a shot at Sasuke his priority was to say that he understood Sasuke's steaming piles of BS and was glad they were friends.   :wallbash:

Just like with Obito, Sasuke's hateful lawlessness far outweighs whatever pseudo-sympathetic motivation he's had.  I just don't get what happened to Naruto's keen sense of righteousness.

Nothing happened to Naruto's sense of righteousness, it's still intact and as powerful as ever, it's just that as he has grown, as he's had more experiences, and as he has learned of the experiences of others his target has changed from individual perpetrators of crimes (as it was during his interaction with Zabuza) to the system that produces these perpetrators.  He has targeted the system over individual perpetrators/criminals since Team 7's conversation by Haku and Zabuza's graves.  And let's not forget, the creepiness of Zabuza (and, he is such a creeeeeeepy character) had been forgotten nearly immediately after he acknowledged his bond with Haku.  That's his goal with Sasuke, to try to get Sasuke to acknowledge his bonds  (or his living bonds).  I really don't think he's changed so much, he's not as simple as he used to be, but isn't that a good thing?  I wouldn't want an almost 17 year old Naruto to be as naïve as his 12 year old self, to be as unaware of the effects of a world in which children to kill, and are ordered to annihilate their families (that makes me sound like an Itachi fan, I'm really not).

I don't know about boring, but it's incredibly cheap.

The core problem is not about killing or giving life. The problem is removing the character in ways that allow Naruto to avoid having to defend his choice. As far as the manga goes, that, above all else is what I want. Naruto never has to decide what next nor deal with any the consequences for letting them live.

Kishimoto obviously thinks letting him live is the more moral thing to do, but rather than taking it's most damning problem head on, he pretends it doesn't exist. Is there anyone who think that the best or more persuasive way to deal with a legitimate counter arguments is to pretend they don't exist? That's basically what he's doing,

it's total bull to take that stance and then cheat his way past the obvious problems with ass pulls and Deus Ex Machina..

There are a lot of things that I wish Kishi would focus on.  The idea of punishment is one of those things for sure, additionally I just wonder how Naruto is going to change this ninja world.  It seems that it's apparently magically going to change because everyone could read Naruto's thoughts and feel his awesome sense of compassion or something, but that's horrible.  How will he change the world?  How will he get a bunch of military communities to find other ways of dealing with each other?  How will he prevent the consequences of war?  How will he get said military villages to allocate enough money/resources/personnel to the ongoing victims of wars (orphans, farmers whose lands have been destroyed etc etc)?  Kishi is great with the set-up, but with the follow through...

But then again, this manga is written for children, so I guess it's to be expected.

#505075 NS Marriage: Surname Uzumaki or Haruno?

Posted by morgaine4 on 23 November 2013 - 08:43 PM

Going by Japanese culture, one of them would have to change their surname and I assume it would be Sakura (they'll both be well known, but Naruto moreso than Sakura), though going by Mito and Kushina (assuming Kushina and Minato were married) I could see Sakura using her own surname professionally...and maybe even personally.  Like she'd change her name, but still be known as Haruno Sakura.

I posted this on tumblr, and I guess I'll post this in here too, my favorite aspect of the chapter was that it helped me realize that as a Sensei Kakashi surpassed Minato a while ago and as written it's simply beautifully ironic.  Minato who was known for his speed, his ability to cover long distances in a blink of an eye yet wasn't around when his students were in dire situations and needed him.  Kakashi who is always late because he's mourning the loss of his friend, his Sensei is on time when it counts (as long as he's alive, able bodied, or Naruto/Sakura's injury/death/near death isn't required for the plot etc).  He appeared seemingly out of thin air after Naruto confronted Nagato and built Jiraiya's memorial, and he did the same just as Sasuke was about to chidori Sakura through the skull (as well as other times).  It's bittersweet, it's beautifully ironic, thinking about it induces major feels for me...it's so embarrassing.

#503882 Are we being fair to Naruto?

Posted by morgaine4 on 12 November 2013 - 12:10 AM

lol I am glad you all reassured yourselves as to why Narusaku would happen :) But yeah more discussion on both Naruto and Sakura's feelings  was the point I was trying to get out of the topic.

The thing is, Naruto's feelings are known, they're steady.  There isn't much to discuss because (for me at least) there isn't much confusion.  I've never doubted Naruto's feelings, but Sakura's feeling are confusing, they're unknown even to herself and because of that (and because personally she's my fav) my discussion revolves around her.  One thing though, at least all of use recognize that in this manga Naruto's feeling are of the paramount importance.  How many Naruto pairing fandoms forget that the titular character's feelings are important and will dictate the storyline direction?
