Don't know, never really got into the whole God of War thing. I just want to know where Panthro was.

Actually, I don't think this version looks all that bad. The original would never have worked if it had been kept as campy as it was, or if the storyline followed exactly the same old one (simply because you couldn't seperate the two). The only thing is I didn't see Snarf anywhere; as silly as he was, he was central to the old story, and should be there (similar to how certain characters showed up in the He-Man remake even though they didn't quite fit in a serious take of the series).
Edit: Or Panthro, now that you mention it. A few others, too, might have been missing -- I was only focused on looking for Snarf.

You haven't experienced the full cofusion of modern gender relations until you've heard an angry group of women yelling, "We want tentacles!" at an all-night Hentai-fest.

And everyone, please calm down about it being a remake. It might not be that good, but you don't have enough to go on how it may be bad. Every series, in terms of appealing to a new audience, has an expiration date, and while the main motive is to make money, I'm sure the writers behind the project were once fans who want to bring the show to a new generation. Not to mention, especially since the mid/late-nineties, writing for action cartoons has been taken more seriously (even for the more kiddish ones). With Young Justice currently airing (haven't seen it, but heard great things about it), and Legend of Korra and Ultimate Spider-Man coming up, I think we can look forward to a lot of great animated series in the future, and this will be no different.
You also have to remember nostalgia and your child-hood mentality does cloud your judgement. Back in the 80s, most cartoons were quite gimicky; as the 90s progressed cartoons of this genre generally had some fairly well-written stories, more compotent heroes and villians, more mature themes and more intense action.
Take the new TMNT for instance. Everyone complained when it first came out about how bad it was. However, most didn't seem to realize how bad the original cartoon was. Even when I was younger, it irritated me to no end how it was supposed to be "NINJA TURTLES", and the turtles hardly ever used ninja skills throughout the entire series; as I recall, one of them always had to grab some kind of demutagen ray. Not to mention how you could appearently defeat a ninja master by force-feeding him anchovies. I also really couldn't differentiate the turtles personalities. Sure, you had some faint hint about what each turtle was about, but each would randomly yell cowabunga and loose their s**t over pizza. The new one had much more intense and well-choreographed action, each turtle had a distinctive personality (especially Raphael) and when relying on other sources to defeat enemies, they usually aren't terribly out of place and not until the turtles put up the best fight they could.
So, watch a few episodes of the remake, then look back at the original now that you're 20+ years old. You'll have a much better perspective then.

Then what about people that watch it much later in life and do enjoy it?
Kushina, please, read again my former post. Especially this part:
You are preaching the choir here. I very much enjoy old Japanese and American cartoons. I like some seventies shows way more than I could love any current series...
But I also am aware some there are some shows I remember fondly from my childhood but it is likely if I watched them nowadays I would ignore them. And I am very forgiving of flaws of older shows I used to watch whereas I am not so forgiving of current shows' flaws (and sometimes I watches current shows and I spot mistakes old shows didn't commit. Or thing older shows ACTUALLY did better).
Of course one person can enjoy things he/she didn't like or pay attention to when he/she was young, or older things. My older sister watched and loved Mazinger-Z and Battle of the Planets when she was a child. I hadn't been born yet when they were being broadcast, but when I got the episodes, I loved them more than my sister ever did. And I have showed my six-year old nephew episodes of those shows, and he likes them (but I am sure he won't love them so much like the shows he actually watches on TV, or how his mother did).
Buuuut another people don't and won't like those shows not matter what.
Mm... I am really not sure of what point I am trying doing here. I think I mean age IS a factor, but I agree it isn't the only factor, and people can appreciate older shows reagardless their age or childhood memories. And sometimes, if you tell an older show is better, it is NOT nostalgy talking and befuddling your judgement.
Regardless, we will see how the new Thundercat show will be. What a show is being made in 2011 doesn't automatically mean it will be better or worse than a show done in 1985 (I don't remember the exact year. I am sorry). Plotwriters can be just so good or so incompetent in the 10's as in the eighties.
Do you want to take over the world, huh? Well, you'll have to go through us first!

But yeah, we need the shipping, first series left that open. And the Best part of the episode you never had to deal with the wormhole aging that didn't make any sense with the Wileys.
