Kubo is no where near done XD He said just this summer he had 10 more years worth of story to tell. I think it is pretty much guaranteed that Aizen comes back, so this arc by no means is the last arc of the series. This arc seems to serve as a, sort of, reflection arc that mirrors the very first arc in bleach. It is meant to deal with Ichigo and why he wants his powers, and show us that he still would want his powers over being a normal human again. He is a shinigami, through and through.

Oh really? I heard that there was only going to be two or three years more at most. Guess I my source was fake.

I think that Kubo-dono is going to throw out an arc about the Shinigami being bad guys and that the Royal Guard with the help of Aizen and Ichigo (and his loyal friends of course) have to deal with the corrupt military force...
Or even vice-versa

TEN YEARS?!
Interpreting this arc as a reflection makes a lot of sense, actually. Very good, Soupy

Introduction - Barrigan
Koyoi, Tsuki ga Miezu Tomo (3rd Movie Theme) - Ichigo
Anima Rossa (11th OP) - Ulquiorra
ALONES (6th OP) - Szayel
Velonica (9th OP) - Harribel
Tane wo Maku Hibi (13th ED) - Shinji
Orange (15th ED) - Starrk and Lilynette
Hitohira no Hanabira (17th ED) - Apache, Sun Sun, and Mila Rose
Sakurabito (21th ED) - Aaroniero
Tabidatsu no Kimi he (22nd ED) - Lisa, Mashiro, and Hiyori
chAngE (12th OP) - Rukia
echoes (24th ED) - Grimmjow
Ranbu no Melody (13th OP) - Nnoitra and Tesla
Save The One Save The All (4th Movie Theme) - Ichigo
This excites me because I love Daisuke (Ulquiorra's seiyuu), and he will be singing Anima Rossa, which is a beautiful love song @_@@@
"Is this love? Is that what I feel when we're together?
All I know is my body, my heart, suddenly can't bear to leave you
I'll be up in the sky
Until the end"
Boom, you might be interested in Grimmjow getting a solo, 'echoes', which seems fitting with the lyrics 'listen to me! listen to me!' and Grimmjow always wanted to stand out XD Though the songs might very well just be chosen based on the seiyuu's ability to sing them, LOL.
Szayel singing ALONES? o.O might be strange, but hopefully he can pull it off. I love that song.

Also, on a sort-of related note, does anyone know how much influence Kubo tends to have in extra-canonical material like this? Does he tend to be pretty involved, or does he basically focus on the manga, and let anime studios and video game developers do what they want? I've heard differing opinions on this, and I'm pretty sure he's written scripts and designed characters for a few games I've played, but I'm naturally pretty skeptical. Especially considering how many times I've heard people in the Naruto fandom claim filler as canon to support their favorite character or pairing.

They will sing with their characters voice. It's pretty incredible how much their voice can change for different characters.
For something like this, I'm fairly sure Kubo is not involved. This is just sort of a for fun, extra merchandise case. However, Kubo does help with some of the movies, creates characters for the filler arcs, and tends to pay attention to the anime (he has twitter and will tweet about certain things he likes). I also know he gave Daisuke Namikawa a special note when he was about to record Ulquiorra's final part in the anime. So Kubo is fairly involved, I'd say. At least he understands, for the most part, what is being done by the anime team and will say if he agrees or disagrees with certain things they do.
I think it's pretty cool he has a twitter account and will reply to fans who message him. Sometimes even in english.

Example of his recent response to a tweet in english:
@tite_kubo Oh! Happy birthday to Ishida!
and Sensei replied:

@La_IV Thank you! I always proud of my children and all my fans.

Wow, really? Do you know how he's reacted to certain filler arcs? I've noticed in the Bleach anime how the fillers really seem to run a wide range in quality, from arcs almost as good as the canon to just absolutely horrible. I really hope he wasn't involved in the Bount arc.
I guess the reason I asked, though, is because I've read about how he originally intended to include the Ashido character in the manga, but didn't have time to include him in that arc, and how he's designed some characters for a few Bleach video games. He also apparently wrote the script for Bleach: The Third Phantom, which was one of the best (of the few) anime games I've played.
That's also an interesting story about Kubo giving Daisuke a note concerning his final part. It's almost suspicious, LOL. It kind of reminds me of a story I've heard about J.K. Rowling giving Alan Rickman (Snape's actor) some information from the 7th Harry Potter book to help him with his role in the movies. Though I suppose the comparison is pretty poor.
Also, Soupy, I have a random question for you. I know different anime fans have different stances on dubs and English voice actors, but have you heard Tony Oliver do Ulquiorra yet? If so, what do you think of him so far? I thought he's nailed some of his monologues, but I was curious what a serious Ulquiorra fan thought of it. I thought David Vincent did a great job voicing Grimmjow, and there's a few other voices in the dub I really like, but I suppose there are more subtleties to voicing a character like Ulquiorra. Anyways, I was just curious what your thoughts were. If you completely avoid the dub, you can ignore my question, LOL.

I don't know exactly how he might have reacted toward the filler arcs (he didn't have twitter back when the Bount arc aired). I think he probably had a hand in the Zanpakutou arc and probably designed the spirit forms. He designed the Bounts for the Bount arc, but didn't have much to do with the plot from what I recall. Also, he designed that one filler segment in the Forest of Menos, I believe it was. He made up a shinigami that lived there... Mostly he is just the designer of characters and then the anime team does the actual plot.
Ashido! Yeah, that was the shinigami in the Forest of Menos right? He definitely created him. As far as the game scripts, I have less info on that, sorry XD That's pretty cool he wrote one of the scripts though! I guess he must be a gamer too :3
I think he was just thanking him for doing a good job with the role, I don't think he was giving secret info on Ulquiorra XD But it is kinda similar to what JK did for Alan Rickman! It makes me happy that Kubo is making sure his characters are treated right, that he is watching the anime, playing the games, etc.
I don't watch the dub at all, but I went and looked up a clip of him. I have to admit, it is pretty good for a dub! I remember I heard a bit of dub Ulquiorra before (perhaps the other guy who played him? Not sure when exactly Tony took over the role), and I remember being upset he said 'girl' rather than 'woman' XD maybe a small thing, but it bothered me a bit. I just couldn't see a dub doing Ulquiorra justice after Daisuke. And you know how you get attached to a certain voice for a character? Yeah, I didn't want to start hearing someone else speaking for him XD But he isn't bad! Not as good as the original, but I can see he captures Ulquiorra pretty well. Maybe I'll have to look up the Heart convo scene, if it has happened in the dub.

Yeah, I could actually see that.
It's funny though, I don't really game that much anymore, but I heard that particular game took some elements from Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics, two of my favorite game series when I was younger, so I thought I'd try it out. The game takes place over different time periods, but it's essentially inserted right after the fight against Grimmjow's fraccion, before Ichigo trains with the Vizards. It sort of breaks canon in a few spots, so I'm not sure much of the script Kubo wrote, but it does a great job of supplementing some of canon story. Plus, there's A LOT of fanservice. I think I fangasmed at a chapter called "The Hoodlum and the Rogue", which revolved around Grimmjow entering the Soul Society, only to encounter and fight Kenpachi.
Some of the voices kind of get on my nerves, but I don't mind the dub overall. I guess I jumped in on the series through the dub, so my perspective's a little off. I like most of the Arrancar voices, but I don't really pay much attention to subtleties, so I was just curious what a real fan of Ulquiorra's character thought.
I'm not sure about the 'woman' thing, but my first thought was that it was done to avoid awkwardness. I guess I feel like it's more common in the English-speaking Western world to refer to teenage girls as 'girls' instead of 'women', but I can definitely see why that would seem like a weird change.
As for the heart scene, the dub is just about to start the Zanpakutou Tales Filler Arc, so Ichigo and Ulquiorra's fight hasn't concluded. They have had the first conversation before the fight though.
I found a mirrored version of the conversation, if you can put up with that.

wow XD Grimmjow vs Kenpachi? I'd like to see Grimmjow vs Renji, since Grimmjow is something like Renji's arrancar counterpart...well, at least I think he is, a bit.

Thanks for posting it! I guess I am so used to seeing him say 'woman' in translations and fanfics, it doesn't seem weird to me. Even more, I love the way he says 'onna'. Hearing Ulquiorra say, 'ore to koi, onna'(come with me, woman) just makes me melt XD It is good that Tony uses a whisper sort of voice, since Ulquiorra largely is very quiet when he speaks. I think perhaps Daisuke has a bit of a different feel overall, at least with the hearts convo. I noticed when he repeats some of Orihime's answers back, sometimes he says the words hesitantly, as if he is almost second guessing himself ("Do you seriously...think that...?"). That would be very canon for Ulquiorra and sort of adds another level to him that is sometimes missed. Tony is more straight forward. But Tony does have to try and make his lines fit for lip movements that are meant for another language. The real telling will be at the final line...hopefully he can manage to match that great emotion in his "Are you afraid of me, woman?"
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
On an unrelated note, Y U flying, Ichigo?? >: I thought spiritual pressure in places like SS and HM prevented that air standing stuff. Oh well XD

And this is probably the reason why Naruto is sucking in the anime department because there's no quality control from Kishi. From what I've heard, Kishi is apparently a family man so that's why he doesn't want to bother with the anime because he fears it will take up his family time. Touching, for sure. But on the other hand, you can't help but feel slightly annoyed. Ah well, when you consider a mangaka's life, I suppose it can't be helped and becomes perfectly understandable.

The family that couldn't be.
