No grand end for Hinata - she has nothing to do with the Team 7 love triangle that is the nexus of the love subplot.
Exactly.
I've been imagining Sakura's love epiphany coming during something similar to the OVA 2011 scene where Sakura thinks Naruto is dead - but your version sounds so much better. Sakura's had enough angst and people telling her what she feels - let her be the one to come to a realization on her own.
Yes. Because Naruto came to his realization about Sakura on his own. Although he was henged as Sasuke, Sasuke actually had nothing to do with the precise moment of Naruto's epiphany when he recognized his love for Sakura. It was private and internal, between the real him and the real her. The seed for Sakura's epiphany was planted at the very same time. The guy she fell in love with then -- the one who understood her and knew exactly how to speak to her heart -- was Naruto the whole time. The real him and the real her. When she is finally cured of her shortsightedness, it will be a "Naruto, just
stop talking and kiss me" moment.
I'm sort of hoping that if they show a flashback of Kakashi they focus on how losing Obito has affected Rin, especially with her knowing that the boy died without getting the chance to confess to her. I want to see her reflecting on that knowledge. Even if she never did return his feelings they could at least show her grieving him. I'm also very interested to see how Obito's death affected the interactions between Rin and Kakashi.
Would she insist on loving Kakashi and wanting him to be with her?
Would she feel guilty about it because of Obito?
Would she start having a change of heart about Obito now that he's gone? (like the old saying "You don't know what you have until it's gone)
How would Kakashi react to all of this?
What might have happened between Kakashi and Rin has been a marble rolling around in my head for ages. The romantic in me has kind of always hoped that Kakashi had feelings for Rin too, but knowing that Obito loved her, and ultimately died for both of them, Kakashi never allowed himself to act on those feelings. Kishimoto has portrayed Kakashi as sort of a case of arrested development. A mild case, perhaps, but still. He has depth, and feelings, but honor and duty have prevailed in a curiously emotionless way -- but with a side of perviness. The trauma of their triangle could explain all that.
The other thing is the parallel between Rin and Sakura. What Rin did -- confessing to Kakashi before Obito's body was cold -- was something I could see early Part I Sakura doing. She would have mourned Naruto, and wouldn't have wanted to hurt his feelings or his memory, but in her immaturity I don't think a confession from Naruto before his death would have swayed her from Sasuke at that time either. But now?
I can't imagine any circumstance where Sakura could be happy with anyone else -- including Sasuke -- now that she knows Naruto loves her. Her love for, and loyalty to, Naruto are too strong. She simply couldn't choose someone else knowing how he feels. Not now. That's why SS is dead. Sakura has been systematically painted into an emotional corner, and the epiphany that Naruto is everything to her is the only thing that can bring her joy now.
What if Hinata doesn't take NS lightly? What if Hinata resents Sakura all her life, after the war?
I have to go with
zacrathedemon5 on this. I am honestly not interested in Hinata's issues.
P.S. Another thing about Kakashi that drives me crazy? What awakened his Mangekyo? WHAT????
