It's ironic though that when the story isn't about Sasuke or Naruto's journey to save Sasuke, the characters are actually very well written and the progress is amazing. I am starting to wonder if giving Naruto a rival was the worst idea Kishimoto's editors ever came up with.

Nope, the problem was turning this specific rivalry into the main plot of the manga.
The manga inst about brining peace, neitehr defeating Akatsuki, is about saving Sasuke.

@James The problem with Sasuke is that we cannot really relate to him. Sasuke had happy life then it was taken from him and after that he still had a happy life, he just didn't care. He decided to throw it away for revenge. And even after he got his revenge he still didn't care about what he had right in front of his eyes. 

 

We can't really relate to any of the characters really. Even Naruto's life, I have no clue of. My problem is I can't...I don't know how to put it...understand Sasuke, maybe? His reasoning for what he does is crap, his motives are stupid, and he comes off as a hypocrite. A massive hypocrite for that matter where it's like....Sasuke, do you even understand what you have been doing?

You say you don't want a team and are a loner, yet you hook up with Team Not 7and share a bond with them better than to do with team 7. You say your path is clear and you can't be wavered, yet everyone except for Naruto wavers you into doing something else. You had chances to do exactly what you wanted, but ignored them. You say you want to do everything for your brother, but the one thing you can do is follow what he wanted for you and you ignore it.

That's the biggest contradiction with Sasuke. He says he respects his brother, but then doesn't listen to what his brother really wanted for him. Like...really?

Even Sakura thought Naruto was going a bit too far for Sasuke.

You know, I'll give Kishi credit to have some realistic sense. Heck, even Sasuke was like why you keep chasing me in a "the hell wrong with you."

For me bothers me about Sasuke is that he is not own personality, a dream to cling to, no fixed convictions, he believes in everything that people say to him, for that Itachi say that he is a blank, he goes digressing through life without know what he really want , sometimes his lack of emotions makes you believe that he is not a human being, then he proves to be in other side which is a insufferable emo that everything affects,this indesicion bothers me and I must be admit that bothers me more that Ksishimoto gave more powers up to his character than he deserves without efforts or learning all "in silver plate" ad that hurt his character that keeps he away from growing spiritually, and this is worst because he is so spiritually ignorant despite having suffered so much has not learning NOTHING.

 

Another things that is crucial for my hatred for his character is his ability for treat people as objects of personal use to achieve his goals and unbearable selfishness in this, Kishimoto admit that he is selfish character and then he say something that upset me: "he is no good or bad he is in his goals without thinking if this is good or bad"

 

I can't feel anything more than aberration for his spiritually poor character who has not grown and continues the same since chapter 1, maybe my main reason for Sasuke hatred xD.

Well I think that I have one, and I could go a change it to what it should say.

I din't get Naruto's obsession with Sasuke. It would be okay if Sasuke just left but the dude has done everything short of pulling Naruto's innards and strangle Naruto with his own Intestines while screaming at him to leave him alone. Kishi sure made Naruto crazy in regards to Sasuke.

 

Like most of the people said above, Sasuke just destroys each and every character he comes in contact with. I seriously hope Kishi doesn't neglect all the BS sasuke did and have the alliance forgive Sasuke like nothing happened.

IMO, Sasuke is here only to make Naruto shine.

So obviously, he's Naruto's opposite.

If by amazing, you mean very confusing story that is becoming Zelda level and wouldn't be a problem if they just make a 3rd one rather than multiple spin-offs that I still haven't play all of them? Sure.

The elements of Roxas ans Namine still confuse me to this day. My view is simpler: Sasuke walking the path of Darkness because he wanted power at first. But later having him regret his deeds while he does something to save Naruto. And of course, the search of Naruto and Sakura for Sasuke would have a better impact when they find him. To top it off, it would cover the aspects of the full moon/crescent moon of Naruto and Sasuke better since both would fight on equal terms and acknowledgment against a common cause. Well, I'm not sure if I'm making sense here but I hope to.

maybe he said that could not lead a life like them for the reasons to carry out his revenge, maybe saying he could not have a normal life, but I think he associated Naruto and Sakura as the same kind of people cheerful, playful and as part of a group of ordinary people with dreams that do not involve the death of someone. 

I don't believe that is a NS moment, in that moment I was neutral with respect to couples however I saw Sasuke away from them sometimes being different in personality, he never liked Naruto jokes and Sakura always he said that she was annoying, so I think that somehow also meant.
