What's most confusing is that Hinata/NH is liked by some very different people. At first I thought she was liked only by those that saw themselves in her (shy, silent ones). But so many confindent, loud, outgoing people like her that I'm not sure anymore if there is any psychological factor.
I get what you're saying, but there are still clear trends and they are based on a lot of factors. If I cared enough I could write an essay on this topic.
Exactly so shouldn't we be praising her for ONCE instead of always criticizing her?
I actually was praising her as I was reading. I actually cheered out loud when she slapped Naruto. I thought she was finally showing some real growth, which was what I was hoping for and expecting. But then she reverts back to her obsession with Naruto as a love interest.
As far as I'm concerned it makes no difference that she loves him. It makes no difference that the thoughts about his hand were in her head. The implication is yet to be contradicted that Naruto loves Sakura, but we're not shown that he thinks about holding her hand. Sakura is believed to love Sasuke, but it's the same story. The only time we've seen her think about him in even close to the same sort of sense is during the Lover-nin conversation, and that was, you know, ABOUT LOVE.
Sorry, but I can't see defending Hinata on this. Her schmoopie infatuation with Naruto is frequently inappropriate in its timing. But what else does Kishimoto have to work with where she's concerned? Kishimoto has repeatedly shown Hinata to be weak and out of her league with strong opponents, and plagued with very deep insecurities. If she is shown to suddenly be a powerhouse now, it will either be because of Naruto's chakra or because she got to hold his hand. In either case, it is strength external to her.
I'm gonna have to agree with this. While I do see her as a threat, I'm not gonna hate her because of that. It's silly and would make me no better than most of the NaruHina fans.
Not everyone who dislikes Hinata and the disproportionate focus on her considers her a threat. I don't. I simply can't identify with anything about her. If Naruto ends up liking her, and choosing her, I'll be happy for him if he's happy. But unless her personality radically changes into something with more true strength and independence, I'll still think of her as a pathetic kitten. Just my opinion.
