It seems to me that Hinata's character is about where Sakuras character was when she openly ogled Sasuke in the beginning of the series. Remember, Sakura was very shy and Ino helped her gain confidence only then did she openly go after Sasuke.
She then turns to herself to develop true strength, to not be a burden but to help her teammates with theirs. We can only hope Sakura has realized the superficiality of her "love" and has matured enough to realize the true meaning of the word.
I don't think Hinata really knows herself yet, so it makes me angry to think she would throw herself AND her role as eventual family head away because of her Naruto infatuation. She could have been so much more but now she's simply canon fodder.
But still Sakura was a fangirl, it did not change, and moreover sakura was shy before falling in "Love" with sasuke, when she start loving the same man as ino she starts a rivalry with her, the fact she even during the bell test when Naruto was fighting Kakashi she only wanted to know where sasuke was, i can see the same thing with Hinata, in the middle of a war she only wants to know where Naruto is, proof of this is when she arrieves, both Gai and Kakashi in a bad shape she says "Naruto-kun are you okay" and Naruto didnt even replied he only replied to Sakura saying "sakura him first".

So feminism has been your concern all along? Love that picture of yours, by the way.

It's one of the first things I noticed when I began to realize that Hinata's sole, one and ONLY reason for LIVING is Naruto.
Hinata is a perfect example of a reflection character. Whatever she is or does is a simple reflection or echo of Naruto. Even the name Kishimoto chose for her -- Hinata, meaning sunny place or in the sun -- reflects her worship of Naruto's warm and sunny nature, and that she is defined by her relationship to "the sun" of the story. As herself she was described as a dark and weird girl; whatever positive qualities or accomplishments she manages are due solely to Naruto's influence.
And yet, considering how much I like Naruto, she doesn't reflect him enough for my taste. If she did I would probably like her better.
She just became fanservice nothing else more.
That's really interesting to think about. From that perspective she is an extremely effective character, in so far as she has captured the hearts and loyalty of so many fans. It's something I will never understand.
Then again, I always find interesting psychological indicators when it comes to character identification and shipping preferences. It's really fascinating when you start seeing trends across fandoms.

You do know that you cut the whole post just for that phrase, right ?
How do you consider it that that was all of her concern from all of what she wrote ?

I understand she has a creepy crush on Naruto. But seriously. NARUTO was more shaken up and distraught over Neji's death than Hinata. It's difficult to believe that Neji and Naruto were closer than Neji and Hinata were. She shed some tears for a few panels, then just stopped. She did look really distraught but next chapter comes and suddenly she got over it? Really?
This chapter only continues to prove that for Hinata:
Naruto >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Anything, anyone, herself and every little thing in existence. Especially her own fuggin' family, friends and clan.
Exactly Hinata was like one minute" NOOOO Neji's gone I can't believe it!" and the next minute she's" Naruto-kun is holding my hand yay! I don't want to let it go love wins!" Just like that she completely forgets Neji's death and might be wondering "what who the f*** is Neji?" his death has taken an impact on Naruto but it didn't looked that way to Hinata. I'm wondering the Hinata haters went berserk when they read this chapter. I like Hinata honestly and I don't have nothing against her but Kishimoto has completely destroyed her character turning her from support type to selfish goody goody Naruto fan girl. It's selfish to have a character resolving only around the male protagonist and nothing else. To Hinata everything is about Naruto, her vow to get stronger, her training and the only reason to fight in the war it has all been for Naruto. Now if Kishimoto turned her that way just for the sole reason to create tension between the male and female leads and its only purpose is to make sure the main pairing of his choice becomes canon then it saddens me when I should be dancing in joy. Because Hinata's creation is nothing but the key to make NS canon nothing else, no other purpose.

Secondly the hand holding panels were given way too much emphasis to just have been portrayed as a necessity. Usually panels with a blank background and leaves symbolize an important or significant scene, and this was done twice in the chapter.

Generally speaking, I realize this genre of manga isn't where I'm going to find gender equality LOL!
However, yes I see throughout the series this generation is surpassing the last....female hokage....females participating in the war where during flashback we see Kurenai's father telling her to stay back so she can have babies

Is it my only concern, no I'm a narusaku shipper and enjoy a decent plot with twists, turns, and cliffhangers.
Which is why I'm a GoT fan, Arya happens to be what I'd love to see Sakura as in this manga. However if Hinata were in that role she would jump significantly in my view!
Thank you Jaqen is another of my favs

Because quite frankly I doubt that what is really bothering people about Hinata's character is their concern for women and our portrayal in fiction. This chapter for example featured a woman giving an inspiring speech to a guy character. Not exactly something that I see as demeaning for women. So I am asking whether the poster really is all that concerned about women or just using that as an excuse to slam a chapter because their favourite pairing did not happen. I think Hinata being so Naruto-centered is something that we could criticize, because that can be problematic when it comes to potraying women. This chapter? This is Kishi's better work when it comes to writing female characters, IMO.

I have stopped trying to find gender equality in so many things. Too many disappointments, too much resulting rage.

What's most confusing is that Hinata/NH is liked by some very different people. At first I thought she was liked only by those that saw themselves in her (shy, silent ones). But so many confindent, loud, outgoing people like her that I'm not sure anymore if there is any psychological factor.

Good point. Kishi got plans for NH lol.

Exactly so shouldn't we be praising her for ONCE instead of always criticizing her?

well that's what hinata is for her love for naruto is practically her whole character. (not trying to be mean....just saying)
if she shows up in the manga, it will almost always have naruto there, cause thats her character.
and if she isn't around naruto, she's thinking about naruto.
she kinda reminds me of orihime, she thinks about ichigo alot too......but she's a little less shy and thinks about others like her tomboy friend also.
thats probably the reason I don't like hinata, cause every time she shows up it's about naruto and I don't like naruhina...XD so it feels like theres no shipping breather around her....(that doesn't make any sense...)
WHAT I MEAN IS....I just want to like hinata for hinata.......and not feel like my ship is constantly threatened by her appearance in the manga.....(which it feels like because all she's about is naruto)!
and people think that makes her selfless and deserving for naruto.....but thats all she thinks about so of course people will think that!! i cant remember the last time she worried about kiba....or shino....or neji....
sakura worries about others AND naruto.
whew :3 that was long for me...

I just expected her to be out of that fangirling stage after that "epic" speech. But she proved me wrong big time. And as for Sakura, well Kishi just took a dump on her to make room for Hinata. The excuse that Sakura is going to eventually have her moment to shine is becoming quite tiresome and annoying. She's much more important than Hinata, yet the fandom has to be reduced to piggy back riding off of Hinata because by their logic if Hinata is getting all this development, then certainly Sakura must have something in store.
Pathetic, don't you think?

I don't believe this chapter has given us an answer in regard to the pairing at all. I LIKED that Hinata actually stood up and quite literally b*smacked Naruto for being a pansy! Now true I didn't appreciate hand linger but that's just my preference in pairing. My problem is that she then stood up and took his hand and squealed internally about how big and strong his hand was!
Now....if she stood up ...grabbed his hand...then thought....."Naruto now we'll fight together...for Neji...." Or you could have even left Neji out and it would have been a better moment for her. Do I care for handhold? No. Do I feel it's threatening ....perhaps but not the act itself the acknowledgement is what puts Hinata in the running for pairing...... It's not over though till the four letter word is spoken by the only character that counts in this, Naruto.

I know what you're trying to say. But to me the only thing that matters to Hinata is being with Naruto. She's like" oh Neji's dead okay I'm fine with that because I'm next to Naruto-kun, I don't care if we're fighting those two bad guys I don't even know who they are because I'm with Naruto-kun, it doesn't matter if we're in the middle of a war I'm with Naruto-kun and it doesn't matter the fate of the world is at stake here I'm holding Naruto-kun's hand yay!"
