He was doing fine but seems to have problems with long term planning. Or at least he probably did but don't know what was it. Seriously, what was that Jutsu...Kishi is terrible at developing characters. He could have had Oda and Ishida whispering in his ears and he still would have f**cked up.

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed when Sakura got the seal (in the nick of time no less), probably because it's like Kishi did a short cut when again, Kakashi has already said that her being genjutsu user would surpass Tsunade, not doing what's already established but make a curve.
It's cool, how Slug Sage's was meant to be, because of 3 big animals parallels, Frog Sage, Snake Sage and... nothing 
Whole universe is as big as One Piece-verse, and even has no problems in traveling like red-line and different seas in One Piece. Kishimoto could create whole kittening One Piece 2.0 with Ninja's but he wanted his Sasuke to shine.

He was only good with a few. Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Minato, Kushina, Obito, Nagato, and Shikimaru were the only decent ones before the ending. Then there were some, like Sasuke, who were never developed period. Sasuke was a terrible character all the way through, nothing he did ever made any sense.

I was mainly indifferent on him, as he never drew my interest. I started disliking him early in part two.And nevertheless Sasuke was usually among the top three most popular characters; even over trumping Naruto.
