I didn't think about it but now that you pointed it out it makes complete sense. That's the perfect explanation for the weird hairstyle Sakura's mom uses.

Can you imagine if at some point in the movie Sakura's mom complained about her forehead and Naruto gave her a compliment about it? The minute that happens I bet she would be all over her daughter about not screwing up her chances to be with a great guy like Naruto.

It would be pretty awesome if this movie gave some sort of subtle approval from both sets of parents. Scenes implying that Naruto's parents like the idea of Sakura as their son's girlfriend and of Sakura's parents liking the idea of Naruto as their daughter's boyfriend.

Naruto: Ne, granny why do you have that weird hairstyle??
Mebuki (right?): *promptly decks Naruto* so what!!??
Naruto: I'm sorry!! I'm sorry!!! I just wanted to know, honest!! I'm really sorry!!
Mebuki: FINE!! it's my forehead. I've always hated it. It's ugly. There, HAPPY!!??
Naruto: Huh?? well, if your forehead is anything like Sakura's, I think it's cute.
Mebuki: W-What!!??
Naruto: Yeah, Sakura-chan's forehead is cute. Makes me want to kiss it. I can see where she gets it from.

Now, that scenario has either of these two settings. One where it has Sakura around, and the other doesn't. It would be interesting if Sakura told her mom about "Sasuke" from the bench scene. And if she quoted "Sasuke's" words exactly the same, then Mebuki (?) would probably figure it out and interrogate Naruto to spill the beans upon hearing those exact same words from Sakura's story. And I think Mebuki will eventually keep it a secret from Sakura to figure it out herself (along with some hints from her).

But I'm not betting too much. I think, at best they'll only have a few lines.

I just realized Sakura's dad's hair has that design to make it look like a Sakura flower. The flower has 5 petals, just like Sakura's dad's hair is divided into 5 points.

I gotta be honest, the more I look at them the more I like them. They're growing on me.

I think it would've been better if his hair (particularly the 5 points) was spikier. It would've been less obvious, but it would've been better to keep his character design subtle.

So this is Sakura's parents eh? I have to agree with most people here that they're not really what I expected. Still, after so much time, speculation and fanfiction, I don't think anything that Kishi would have come up with would have been 100% satisfactory. Yes, hype can indeed be a dangerous thing sometimes. Still, like reddragon88 mentioned, they're now slowly growing on me as well.

Mebuki looks very strict, so perhaps that is where Sakura got her "Ordnung muss sein" attidue. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be a tsundere just like Kushina or Yoshino. Kuzashi on the other hand looks very laid back. I can imagine him and Naruto getting along very well and also sharing some good pranks with each other, with Mebuki and Sakura scolding their respective companions. So many possibilities.

I also think that if Naruto is a mommy's boy, then Sakura would be a daddy's girl. Sure, In part 1 Sakura would probably have been more likely to listen to her mother, i.e. "Stay away from pranksters" and "Find yourself a good respectable husband". However, I think that as she's gotten older, she now finds her fathers personality way more endearing.

This is all just speculation of course.

Hopefully they'll do a non headbanger style for the movie song. Headbanger seems rather contradictory with a movie that's going to have such a theme of the power of familial love...

And why is that? Are you saying that headbanger songs can't have positive themes in them? I'm not trying to star a flame war or anything. I'm just curiuos.

My thoughts to a T! I'm so happy we FINALLY get to see Sakura's parents (though I still think its weird, and perhaps a little unfair even, that (a) it took so long to finally introduce them, and (b) in an anime movie rather than in the manga or even in the anime series when so many of the other rookies got their families introduced way back in part 1 - hell even SHINO'S dad made an appearance in the manga in part 1 - y u treat ure heroine like this kishi ).

Though I have to be honest, they do look older than Minato, Kushina, Mikoto, and Kiba's mom. Yoshina and Fugaku maybe look around the same age; but you would seriously expect Sakura's mom to be gorgeous given her canonical pretty face. Ah well, maybe its just a bad picture and they'll look better animated. Even if not, their hinted at personalities seem pretty endearing!

Here's definitely hoping for some parental approval/ribbing both ways!

lol looks like sakura's mom is a tsundere. I like how they turned out but i will always have narudeeds fanfiction's sakura's parents as the real ones. Did you notice why sakura's mom is a blondie and her dad has pink hair? that's naruto and sakura's hair colour combined. I think her parents do look like her, i mean sakura has her mother skin and upper face (forehead, nose, eyes) and she has her dad's mouth and hair.
As for her personality i think it's a mix since sakura isn't as strict as her mother looks like or as laid back as her dad looks like. And there isn't any parents cooler than Minato and Kushina, unless Narusaku, since kishi has put out his real feelings towards his son an wife into making the part where minato and kushina sacrificed themselfs

At a first glance, I was very surprised by how Sakura's parents look. I didn't expect them to look anything like that. I figured her mom would look a little more like her, but these guys seem to be the most random pair out of all the ninja parents introduced.

Having said that, after thinking about it for a min, that one picture of her parents makes sooo much sense. I mean, look at her dad - has a laid back demeanor, very chilled out, said to have been a bit of a trouble maker in his youth. Then look at the mom - Seems very very strict, the parent who wants her child to stick close to the rules and stay away from troublemakers ( Naruto).

Now look at Sakura, on the outside Sakura is very by the rules and is always trying to bring Naruto up to a more mature level with her. But on the inside it has been shown that she enjoys pranks and people that cause trouble like Naruto. This just shows me where Sakura got her conflicting personalities from. Her calm dad and her strict mother.

Once again, this just makes me more confident in a NaruSaku ending. Though I will say, I am very happy that Kishi is finally developing Sakura's back story. I have been wanting that for years now. I don't care if its in a movie, as long as Kishi writes it, then this movie is 'manga' in my eyes.

Alright, so I got it mixed up. Sakura's mother is the delinquent. She's a Japanese Yankee, which is like a person with a wild style/personality.

So Sakura probably is a lot like her mother then, or at least still somewhat of a Tsundere. I still like the idea that she hides her huge forehead. Maybe she turned into a delinquent because she was teased like Sakura, but took a different route on life. XD

Also, there's a closer image of Sakura's mothers face in the teaser trailer. Sakura has her mothers eyes indeed.

Well, her mother certainly isn't the grounded one in the relationship. Likely, Kizashi is the one to enforce the rules/act strict. Mebeki, since she's a yankee, is likely similar to Kiba's mom. xD
