Seriously...there are thousands of people that can get killed in Syria, and there is a huge chance that North Sudan may invade the South, massacring the civilian population...and the UN is wasting its time on the rights of hipsters, that in any other country would be shot to death?

Heh.

A organization whose defense of civil rights can be at best be described as selective (and at worst a joke) lecturing the US on the treatment of people who had a rather poor record of protecting its own members (rape-free zones!) and those around them.

Uh Strangelove I think you need to stop watching Fox, even moreso than the all the other corporate owned media they are in the business of keeping their watchers away from what is really going on:

http://www.businessw...ck-hanauer.html

http://ecolocalizer....est-since-1928/

http://thinkprogress...ome-inequality/

http://motherjones.c...ica-chart-graph

Occupy are "hipsters?" So that's what Fox is telling you? Try people of all races, both genders, all age ranges, all kinds of 99% careers, some employed, some laid off by multimillion dollar corporations who made record profits but even that wasn't enough for their greed, so they are outsourcing the jobs, military vets, retired people, even some of the more progressive local politicians.... If you make less than a 250 K a year you are part of the 99%. Occupy isn't just the folks you see occupying in public, that's just the bravest folks, many, many more support with their words online and occasionally participate in a support action-marches, etc...

My counter link:

http://www.redlandsd...nty/ci_19463184

When was 23% 99%...i don't get it...

Not Fox, not CNN, not MSNBC...just an article.

And yes they are hipsters...i did not say that hipsters are a bad word, but to protest and hold rallies, that belongs to the Vietnam War era generation. Only this time you have the internet...and you can blog on your so called Facebook to say how evil capitalism is, and hooray the goodness of socialism, even when in a socialistic society Facebook wouldn't exist because there is no profit motive for it, and if there was something like Facebook it would be government regulated, not too prevent people from getting rich, but to prevent people from saying bad things about them, in other words censorship.

I fail to understand how they contradict they're views. For example, conservatives want a ban on porn, but they want to protect the sanctity of the free market, even when the free market loves porn.

Hardcore liberals want to protect the environment, yet they want everything to be free, with the fact that everything being free would consume the god damn earth, as there are 7 billion people on these planet as of last month i believe. We would consume everything, for having everything free, creates 100% of demand.

Maybe that is why socialist nations never survive. They consume they're natural resources into oblivion.

Yes they're cause is good, there is definitely something rotten in these whole thing, but i think it has more to do with the fact that for the last decade we had artificial wealth powered with artificial low interest rates, to buy at artificial low prices, in hopes that in the future, you can sell at artificially high prices. In a strange way it was a subsidy...oh and Ciardah i do not watch Fox News...i don't watch any of the mainstream news.

Not wanting to be devil advocate but already being, I think people might be jumping on the gun about this boy, I mean, he is just 8 years old, does he really have an solid view of homosexualism on society, or is he just standing up to defend his dear mother? His opinion about all of this things can easily change as he gets older, the worst of all is that this boy might just be used as an excuse to appeal to the public.

True. But I kinda doubt it. We'll see when the little tyke gets interviews. That way, we'll really know what the kid's thinking. but still, for an 8-year old to completely own a politician, he's got to have some level of maturity.

We just had a big drop in unemployment and it's likely to continue going down for the next year. I suspect that both Democrats and Republicans will tout their own policies to credit it, but the biggest driver is the number of people moving to retirement age. Regardless, it's still good news and should be a bit of a boost to the morale of the American worker and just about anybody. More people having more money means that they'll buy more. Or at least start catching up on paying debts.

The Republicans won't. They have been touting that a big reason behind the drop is over 300,000 leaving the workforce (at least the bloggers have, I haven't seen any quotes by elected officials). U3 unemployment is defined as those who are seeking work but cannot find it. U3 is typically what is report as the unemployment rate in news out lets. It's the 8.6%. From what I hear, even Obama wasn't as bullish on this as would be expect given the drop.

If people quit looking for work, regardless of the reason (they retire, they give up, etc.), they aren't counted in that rate. The U6 rate, which I haven't seen for this month, includes those who have given up looking. I don't know if Labor deparment makes any assessment of the reason why they are no longer looking, which would be pretty important in deciding how problematic that 300,000 is.

I forget the number of jobs created in that span (I want to say about 120,000 or so, but I'm not certain on that), but I do know it was less than the number that left the labor force. So, the news isn't as good as it sounds.

This is not to say adding the jobs was bad, but how good it is depends on what is driving that 300,000 number. The economist cited in the article provides nothing that would tell me anything about that. A high retirement rate driving participation down presents it's own set of issues.

I'm not a big fan of Bachmann, but in her defense I really doubt she prepares herself for stuff like this. It's not like she'll start debating with an 8 year old and expect him to get anything out of it. If I was a proponent of that line of thinking concerning homosexuality, I'd probably react the same.

Though in all fairness, I personally don't see topics rooted in faith or religious beliefs as being debate-worthy to begin with. If a debate consists of telling someone that their faith is 'wrong' than the argument can really only end with both parties agreeing to disagree. So I'd say winning, losing or 'owning' in an argument like that is sort of relative.

This is the same thought I had. I really doubt an 8 year old kid has enough experience to form a valid conclusion on something like this. Even though I definitely disagree with Bachmann on that issue, I find it pretty disgusting that his mother would try to juxtapose her views on an 8 year old just to catch a politician off guard and make her look bad.

I heard the same number of created jobs in that article and yeah, the number isn't great. But a lot of jobs just aren't going to be coming back (like McCain made the mistake of admitting in the last campaign). We're going to need to retrain a lot of our workforce and reorient our economy, but that takes a while and it's not cheap. There are some government programs that help and some workers have been tackling it on their own, but it's tough to take on a lot more debt when you're already unemployed.

And yeah, the big number is the number of people leaving the work force. If they're retiring - which demographic information suggests - then it's pretty much ok. Yeah, there are also issues with that, but that's been factored into projections for when SS goes bankrupt since the early 90s at least. So we're already expecting that hit (and trying to avoid dealing with it until the last minute).

But if they just quit working - or were searching for a job and just decided to start taking retirement benefits from their previous job and SS because they had to, then it's quite a different picture.

Actually even that is wrong.

He sounds like one of the Westborro Baptist Church people.

Kids can't celebrate Christmas...is he kidding me?

I noticed between him, Bachman, and Santorum they push up the gay bashing, religion zealous, when they're campaign hits rock bottom. That is so typical for the GOP.
