Just so you know, it happens during the period where I start killing off named 'good guy' characters left and right. (Current count is at least five named characters, probably more, but the 4th comes back somewhere during that period)

Yes, I am. I don't normally post updates to that story in this thread, since I don't consider it a Naruto/Sakura story. (I think that Naruto and Sakura actually interacting more than at the beginning and end of the story is a prerequisite for that status.)

Anyways, to keep this post at least somewhat on topic, I'll second Nes Mikel's recommendation of Hana Ni Arashi - it's a very good story. Any author that can introduce an OC named "Uchiha Katana" and actually keep my attention deserves a ton of credit.

Hahaha... sure, Medusa Javelin is sad, but I don't think it's nowhere near as sad as Garden of Sanctuary - well, in my opinion anyway, if that counts for something. And let's not forget, the best cure after reading tragic stories is to read sweet ones instead! So don't be afraid. You never know, you might be pleasently surprised.

Anyways, while we're on the topic pf tragic stories, here's another one. Quite new.

The author says in the summary that it is SasuSaku, but it also has implied NaruSaku in it so I supposed the story could use the mention in this thread. Although the oneshot tends to leave certain things unexplained (such as why Sakura starts falling in love with Sasuke and vice versa), nonetheless it is a good emotional piece.

I don't usually read fics starring an OC, but I really like the way Raina1 writes and I enjoy reading about Katana's (OC) comments on life, her dad and her new living arrangement.

Anyhow, if you guys like this fic, you should check out Carpe Diem, side-stories of Hana Ni Arashi. There were stories in their that got me all choked up.

Hm, interesting. Didn't realize that same author wrote that other story. I've read that other story and I found it uninteresting as well. Well, I guess that means the author actually gave it effort this time, hm?

I clicked on the fic and began reading it because I noticed that oneshot's length was over 5000 words, something of a rarity nowadays. Effort is sometimes the only thing that takes to make a story something enjoyable to read.

I don't usually read fics that star an OC either. But in Hana Ni Arashi's case, Raina1 actually makes the story work by exploring and developing the personalites of all characters. In most OC-centric stories most authors tend to ignore character development of others, or worse, throw them out of the window and sculpt them into totally different people. You know the type: the ones where an OC makes a sudden appearance and some male/female character in Naruto thinks that OC is hot and eventually falls in love. Yeah, those. Hana Ni Arashi doesn't do that. Well okay, maybe Ichigo (another OC) falling in love with Katana might be something similar, but it's different dammit! It's actually written really good!

And thanks for pointing out that side-story, never noticed. I'll go read that right now.
