Shikadai: acts lazy. Acts cool like his father. Temari scolds him for his disrespectful greeting. 700 was short but it was enough to give us a feel of how the kids of the new generation act.

What I meant was that Shikamaru is popular and greatly loved by the fandom. So its more likely that Shikadai will bring in more popularity if he's modeled after his father. Also nostalgia.

And since this is Jump every single thing in the new era will be about pandering to the popular demand.

Uh I still didn't explain very well I think. The pandering to shipping fans is still going on full on right now. There's special merchandise for Heteroshippers. I haven't been keeping up with any of the threads so I don't know if anybody posted those pics or not but Fanservice is really at a high now.

But I agree that this fanservice won't be present in the mini series. At least not a lot.

If they were on full fanservice to the pairings we would've know, the merchandise coming out for Naruto right now is mainly Team 7and SNS. The Hinata merchandise didn't sell at all, an example is the failure of the "Naruto-kun" alarm clock

 

I think the fanservice on the miniseries will come more in form of BS, which will try mix SNS and NS

NH and SS will have some moments I'd guess but nothing big for reasons I've already stated

 

 

Views on Obito are polarised. But you'll still find a large number of people that love him. If not adult Obito, kid Obito is still loved.On any Obito video on youtube you'll see exactly this.One half will be bashing Obito the other half vehemently defending him.

LOL.Itachi is loved. LOVED . The itasasu and itasaku fandom alone are huge.

They don't usually like his character for what he did but for what he represented, " the dark aloof older brother, the bishonen, etc" 

You can see that by how they usually deny that Itachi abused Sasuke psychologically and physically

of course there are a few real Itachi fans that recognize his mistakes and and still like him for another multitude of reasons

 

About Obito...well, if we go through an unbiased POV it's obvious that Kishi failed on Obito's development, his reason for turning heel like he did were not explained very well, his backstory was lacking and what he said and how other people in the ninja universe reacted to it worked to alienate a big number of fans

Of course there will be those people who like him as a character but as a said from an unbiased POV, it's obvious Kishi missed the mark with Obito's development

I don't doubt Naruto loves his spawns in some degree, it's just that he is neglecting them for work. and Burrito series will most llikely paint this as something good as chapter 700 did

You are aware that 698 and 699 are really popular right? SJ recently released coloured copies of both chapters along with other popular chapters and panels.

Kishimoto is good at creating drama. Remmber Naruto's goodbye to Minato.Or that Guy chapter Kishimoto wrote as a tribute to his father? Those were written after Yahagi left.


I'm NOT saying he's a good storyteller but at critical moments he can deliver really emotionally impactful scenes. His plot points go from here to nowhere,parallels become parallols and apparently half the manga was misleading . But there were some really good emotional moments.

 

We don't even know if Kishi actually had those ideas for that scenes or if he was he one who wrote it

And after Pein arc I'd say the only really strong emotional scene was the Kushina one

The NS/SK moments with the CPR an such were the last emotional, good and genuine moments. The looks on those girls' faces were so detailed, it looked like Kishi used a long time drawing them. And the chapter is called "The real end" huhuh. Almost forgot, the SN moment after their fight was as good, but that was a long time coming. The only plan that wasn't butchered.

no worries - I'm trying to make sure duplicate links to big things like teasers, leaks, interviews, etc., get into both threads. As for the teaser, all I see is that it's completely clear that the ending of Naruto was just a bridge to the new series. Nothing more. Sasuke as his Master? Ugh. Naruto the manga was flushed down the toilet for new era project.

 

It COULD have been that bridge with Naruto getting with Sakura as intended, Them having actual beautiful and cute children, and without retconning plus devolving to their twelve year old personalities while being even more like twats to make the relationship work, no? BUT ALAS..............

Kishi is only lucky until the war arc/ending and retcon happen then it made the naruto manga much worse than bleach along with other horrible endings in general.

I think he means he was lucky that he was able to survive to see this day, despite the fact he did lose people before the end. At least he got this far. Though it is surprising a bit that Bleach is surviving this long as well. I guess whatever works.

Looking at the trailer, I'm thinking it's retcon the movie, Sasuke the sensie, to retcon the fact he's not a bad father who is never home, and Naruto's bad parenting will likely be changed to child trying to come out from his fathers shadow and prove himseilf.

 

Looking at the colour scheme and the focus on Naruto and Sasuke in the trailer, looking like they will be trying to win over the two fanbases they screwed over the most, the NS fanbase, So NaruSaku and NaruSasu. I wouldn't be surprised if the kids end up taking a back seat anyway, nobody is going to care for the kids, it's like in Dragonball, they tried to push Gohan but it didn't work so Goku ended up coming back to get the fans back in.

 

The fact this movie is coming out on 8.7 so less than 10 months after the Last was released doesn't fill you with confidence that it's a quality production, but Cash In, There is now Kishi would have managed to finish the plot, for the movie in time, so I guessing this is another SP full production, with Kishi being labled as the person responsible for the script to one again try to trick us into thinking this was all his idea. Though I doubt this time they'll let us in on that fact.

 

I feel sorry for the fans who actually think this will be a great piece of work as good as Naruto used to be.

 

Some excellent points here. I think you are right: Kishi is trying to pander to NS and SNS here. I think that's a lot of what the BS pairing is trying to capture. And as the series continues, the kids will take more and more of a backseat. What incentive do fans have to invest in an entirely new cast of characters? Especially ones that are such obvious reductions of their parents?

 

Gaiden and the Bolt movie will be successful because there are a large amount of fans on both sides of the earth who are suckers and fanboys. But it certainly won't be nearly as successful as Naruto.
