My heart now needs something to fill giant void. I approve of the ending. :) Where do we send fan-mail? Anyone know?

You're making the assertion that the ending is only pandering and I was laying out how it developed. It did have build up. They didn't just throw it in at the end, but I think your only stance is because fans liked it, it was pandering. AND IT'S NOT EVEN A CONCRETE PAIRING. "This endgame pairing" as if Korra and Asami were at an alter instead of heading into the spirit world. Creators are allowed to pander to fans, heck most shipping that goes on in any series is pandering/teasing of some sort, but your claim that they had no build up and were and always will be 'dubious at best' seems to be your philosophical hatred of anything that may have been even slightly catering to fans.
They worked it into their story. People were seeing hints all throughout season 4, and in season 3 Asami's relationship with Korra had already shifted. If the people behind Naruto had decided to pander to the NaruHina fanbase and establish them as the endgame pairing, which they did, I'd have wished they had handled it in the same way that LoK creators did--by resolving one pairing debacle and focusing on the other until the end.
Oh, and progressive shock value? Again, you're not even looking at the content and you're screaming wish-fulfillment lesbians. Did they say I love you? No. Did they kiss? No. Did they say their vows under a pretty arc? No, what they have is an ambiguous implication of romance. It's a pretty tame scene as far as pairing material goes. You're angered by an implication that they'll have a relationship in the future, potentially. Yet to breathe that this pairing is the same level of ass-pull pandering as NaruHina is, as you put it, some serious mental gymnastics.
If you have problems with creators doing anything that a fandom might like than by all means, hate away. However, looking at the series you can't claim that they weren't setting it up. Also, it's hard to say how popular Korrasami is compared to other ships. I've heard better arguments against this pairing. I don't hate NaruHina because it's popular. I'm not hipster like that. I hate that it had no set up, no logic to it--that it was downright misleading. Korrasami was not misleading. It was a sweet gesture at the end and it made sense in context for reasons I explained.
I think it's totally fair if someone would have preferred no romance. I understand for a lot of people, either who want more emphasis on the group and friendship especially for an ending scene, and for people who feel that Korrasami may have been ruined due to past relationship drama.
I couldn't agree more with you. My husband and I joked about them "being more" then friends especially after all the little hints were added in book 3. It was obvious that they were put in situations together so that they could grow closer together as friends and together they dealt with Mako being awkward during all of book 3. I never felt that they were shoved in our faces, their relationship felt genuine to me. I usually don't ship same sex, that doesn't mean I'm against it at all but it's never been my thing, but Korrasami worked for me because they had grown into being very close friends, best friends actually. Now like you stated they didn't kiss or say they loved one an other but the ending to me was perfect because it was kinda left open ended. Korra didn't need to be with Mako in order to be happy. She and Asami were able to do their own thing as friends, and if people want to look more into then that's all good, because I personally do think this ending was pointed at them being more then friends

Anyway I just had a idea for legend of korra animated movie?
Throughout the whole time in the series I was curious as to how things were with the fire nation. So since we didn't get that in the series I think it would be cool if we got a legend of Korra movie revolvong around the fire nation with Korra and friends in the picture obviously.
Agreed.
Over 3,400 notes and still growing.

The only thing I'm missing from the finale is Naga? Where the hell is Naga
Speaking of awesome mascots, Kurama should've been in the Naruto finale as well.
edit; look what mike shared on fb!
Isn't that just the straightest thing ever?

It was just too late imo. Varrick treated her like garbage since season 2, then in the middle of the fourth they start showing they care for eachother. I understand Bryke works on each season seperately, but this idea should've popped up in their head much sooner. Maybe they didn't have any idea what to do with them after this, thus they saved it for the last.
But yeh better than nh.

I liked the ending a lot, really toned me down after the Naruto fiasco.
There was obvious build up between Korra and Asami, nothing seemed like a asspull.
Also it seems that its implied that Korrasami did happen in the end. Mike even linked it on his facebook and Seychelle (Asami's VA) linked it from her twitter.

The ending wasn't really all that great to be honest.. Just my opinion.
They messed up characters I like and they kinda just threw in the Korrasami moment at the end just so they won't resolve the mess they made with the romance.
The only person I would say that good a good end in the romance department was Varric and his assistant.
Mako and Korra was a good ship until they had to kitten on Asami for it to work and they still ended up breaking up. Then they went ahead to further screw Asami over again in season 2 by having her kiss Mako after he dumped her for Korra (still can't get over that), Bolin also did not even get any last moment with his girlfriend at least I don't remember seeing them together dancing or something in the final episode.
What about Kuvira and that idiot that she loved? No resolution on that I guess. This might not bother other people but I was kinda interested in seeing what happened to their relationship especially now that she got TNJ by Korra.
Compared to the original Avatar series, this ending was underwhelming. Still an enjoyable show once you ignore the crappy romance.
Maybe I am just nitpicking.... but it could have been a lot better.

I agree, there was no such development to indicate they would end up together, They were okay friends at best.
Yeah, the Varrick thing was kinda cute but I don't get how a secondary character ended up with a huge proposal and wedding scene, they could have used that time to do sooo many other positive stuff with Korra for example.
Ah don't even get me started on that. The angst, the triangles, the development, the difficulties Makorra had to go through that in the end led up to... nothing?
