I can't say I like the idea of where chakra comes from too much... Yeah, Atheck is right about this contradicting the original explanation for chakra. I really dislike it when authors aren't consistent. And yes, a lot of seemingly religious references in this chapter.
Ha, of course Sarutobi shows up right in the nick of time. Where was he this entire time!? So, does the tree or whatever not go after the Edo Tensei? Apparently they sucked up Minato's chakra but it doesn't seem like they caught Hashirama, Tobirama, or Sarutobi... And why did they quit leeching chakra? Hmm.
What was the Naruto/Sasuke glare-off thing all about? Uh.
Sakura!! <3 Looks like that one person (don't remember who - LuckyChi?) was right about her appearing this chapter, because she's been appearing every two chapters. She's down at the moment, but she doesn't look too hurt. She should be up shortly. NS moment soon...? Pleaseee.
Dat cliffhanger. kitten, what's going to happen next chapter? Excited.

This chapter was more enjoyable than the last few, the origin story of chakra was intriguing to me and I wonder where Kishimoto is going to go with it. I agree with James about the religious implications in the chapter, to me it sounds like Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden, and that's immediately what I related it to, I'm sure the are also other ways to interpret it from Japanese mythology and I think either interpretation can be correct, depending on your perspective.
I was glad to see Hiruzen finally show up, I was starting to think Kishi had forgotten about him in the fray. I also loved seeing Sasuke just standing there watching all the destruction with a completely passive face, seriously, the guy hasn't changed at all, and certainly not for the better, but I still wonder what his actual plans are. And I definately sense something coming with that panel of Sakura laying on the ground, she was the only siginficant character Kishi showed down and possibly injured so I can only think its going to be important. Could be a Rin parallel coming, though I'm not entirely keen on that, I prefer the parallels to just be implied not thrown in your face, but oh well.

You got it right, I did call Sakura appearing, but I meant to say every other two chapters oh well it works by me. I believe we will get a NS moment soon. It would kinda be cool to see it next chapter, but I believe it'll happen in the next volume.
Just to joke around, I felt like Kishi looked at my posts and was like you know I'm gonna throw off LuckyChi's theory with Sakura's appearance in this volume of naruto.
THAT'S WHAT HEROES DO, THEY SAVE PEOPLE!!

Kishi likely kept them out of the chapter to ratchet up the drama since we saw fodder die all around them. Are they alive? You have to read the next chapter to find out! It just adds a little mystery even though we know they escaped. That being said, I wouldn't jump the gun about Hinata not showing up - its likely we'll find out about her and the other rookies' fates next chapter, and I'm just as positive that they aren't dead either.

What a chapter !!! Totally unexpected
So , as far I understood from this chapter : Juubi reached it's final form , yet it is still controled by Obito . If that is true , then I also got the impression that Sasuke was not targeted by the tree , which means either Obito was too set on getting Naruto or he still has some plan that involves Sasuke .?
Also , what did Madara mean by him being the one to do the moon eye plan ? I guess the flower will not bloom on its own and there is yet another step that needs to be performed by whoever wants to control the genjtsu .... although seeing as Obito is the Jinchuriki , one would think that he is the only one that can control it .
Poor Sakura , yet again she is down , despite all the emphasis that was put on her being a top med nin and on med nins being especially adept at dodging .....
Random idea : what if the current world is actually a genjutsu that was started by the Juubi as revenge for Kaguya eating its fruit

Response to random idea: INCEPTION! It's not impossible, considering Kishi already did flashback within a flashback, why not genjutsu within a genjutsu? Though it's probably unlikely.

Here's an interesting question that someone else posted. If chakra originated from the God Tree and humans learned how to harness an innate ability to mould it with their spirits and bodies, how did the animals who have demonstrated chakra manipulation and ninjutsu skills acquire this power? Since Gamakichi revealed that he was able to use senjutsu also a theory was made that suggests all frogs, snakes, and slugs use natural energy , not just the labeled sages. But the knowledge to use this ability must have originated somewhere. And what about the various other animals who wield chakra? Do they have this inherent gift to mould it as well?
This happens with every origin story. Something is revelead that twists the story more. The only thing we can take from this chapter is the addition of the juubi fruit, it being a tree, the existence of a mother to the sage. The exact way in which everything works in that world or how everything originated will never be revealed. But what I mentioned before, we need now to take into consideration for the plot.

Well things sure are speeding up now, the whole Tree thing is taking me back to "End of Evangelion." (LCL puddles anyone?)
Crazy to think about the magnitude of this battle in terms of how the manga started, though. Did anyone even imagine that it could get to this level back when Team 7 was fighting against Zabuza and Haku?
Definitely curious as to how in the world they will beat this thing. Hopefully Sakura is alright, gets up and joins the battle again.

Woah completely forgot about that. Hmm...it might explain the use of the "...." in that particular panel. I wonder what he's thinking....

Well, Madara has mokuton now, which can be used to control a Jinchuuriki. As long as Obito is under his power, it all works out for him. However, what was he trying to accomplish by stalling Hashirama?
Well, when you're trying to avoid tens of branches that basically home in on any chakra source, that would be quite a feat to get away from. Even Naruto couldn't get away from all of them with his enhanced speed.

Well, this will be far from the mind rape of that movie. I haven't actually seen it, but I read synopsis, heard from others, and even saw screens and could tell how messed up it was. I'm not sure if I can even handle watching that movie. My constitution won't be able to take it.
As for the scale of this battle, that's common in any story. In fighting shows, the battles start small only to increase gradually for as long as the story continues. I'm currently watching Lord of Lords: Ryu Knight, and the battles certainly escalated from fighting bandits to soldiers to dragons. The fights started on the ground, but now they are taking place in the sky as well.

Only Sasuke was looking at Naruto. Naruto was looking at the God tree. Tobirama and the others landed in front of Sasuke and Juugo, but were facing the same direction they were. I guess, Sarutobi just finished recovering. His wound was anything but simple, having his head obliterated. A normal person would die from that.

The eyes should be at a specific level to read the Uchiha stone ? I didn't know that.

People are saying that Kurama's chakra is the first to go...but no, if you noticed people are falling into exhaustion way before Kurama's chakra is deactivated. If you noticed the nin in page 3 got his sucked out before Kurama's chakra dissipated.
In other words his chakra is still keeping people alive, probably like an emergency reserve. Even though the fodder nin may have fallen...they may just be unconscious and not really dead. The tree is just taking what used to be his...or hers...I think Madara called the Juubi a she.
And yes you can only read some of the stone with the sharingan, some of it with the EMS, but the whole thing can only be read with the rinnegan.
