Well it kinda does make a little bit of sense, you know... The AU was set in a world where Minato and Kushina lived, hence, her b-day whereas manga, the real world would be set in a world where they're dead, hence, their death day and naruto's bday are around the corner...

my mistake, well probably kishi wanted to hint this in manga hence the birthday cakes. Its hard to imagine that the alliance would make a bday party considering Sasuke is there and its hinted that he will fight Naruto.

Does it says it's Naruto's birthday at the end of Road to ninja? I actually didn't pay much attention to it, if not then it's just a cake.
Otherwise it's just a normal plot hole.....of a plot hole.
I think it's more like Iruka wanted to cheer him up by celebrating his success in defending against the Akatsuki. Just a little party for the both of them. And the AU world's time flows differently from the real world. However, the time discrepancy probably isn't that wide either. If I had to guess, one week in AU equals one day in the real world. So, if the setting is in July, then it still works.
The family that couldn't be.

**WARNING. INCOMING RADICAL THEORY**
Plot hole or fridge brilliance? Imagine a world you are thrown into that grants any wish you desire. A world based on your own mental heaven of sorts. Now imagine in this world you want it to be your birthday. The world changes to that day no matter what time of the month it is. Sort of like "Christmas every day" story plots that happens a lot.
or Imagine if one day at the very moment you wanted cake, Bam, someone so happens to have a cake right there.
The world itself is not based around the rules of the real as this world brings loved ones "back to life" or even changes your life entirely and everyone around you. A world that bends to your whim and whatever you wish to have in it.
You have entered the Twilight Zone.

Yeah I know but I was talking about the real timeline set in Road to ninja, not the AU.
It's July in the prologue but when Naruto comes back from the AU world, Iruka shows up with a birthday cake, even though according to Sakura's parents, they have been away for few hours.
Now in the AU world it looks like they spent more than just few hours, I would say 2 days max? But we do know for sure that it's still set in July because of Kushina's birthday.
So time flows differently in both worlds, it's sorta like the time and space chamber in Dragon ball Z.
Now the question is whether the cake Is a lie or not
Double
BTW, The Cake....is a pie.

It's about the Japanese raw of 643, the (un)official chapter, that is tomorrow which, yeah, the next one 644 is on the 28th.

Either it was leaked Chinese raws or Chinese scanlations. Usually WSJ is released a bit earlier in China.
That's why the translation used got Minato's name mixed up with Rin.

To be honest I found this chapter a little underwhelming. I thought we would see more of "dark" Kurama. I wonder what Naruto and Minato putting their fists together will do... Is this the father-son team up I've been waiting for!? o: They're gonna save the whole Alliance probably... Somehow...
My favourite part of the chapter is finding out that Naruto's birthday is tomorrow. I love it when Kishimoto includes stuff about the timeline, it makes stuff a little clearer.
So, Naruto will be turning seventeen tomorrow (in the Naruto-verse, that is)! The war will probably end on Naruto's birthday, too. How convenient. And what a nice gift the end of a war is, lol. Plus he got to see his father...
I'm thinking that the series might end on the day of Naruto's birthday (not including any epilogues). That means that's the day Sakura will get together with him. Amazing birthday present, I'm sure Naruto would agree.

I'll probably like this chapter a little more once the Japanese version is released. I kinda rushed through reading this, so maybe that's why I didn't think it was so great. So I'll read the Japanese version thoroughly.
Well, Shizune said Sakura had been gathering chakra into one spot for three years, not that it's been three years since Tsunade took Sakura as her apprentice. Sakura probably began gathering chakra into her forehead sometime after Naruto left with Jiraiya.P.S. and yet AGAIN, Kishi makes zero sense with timelines... didn't Shizune stated not so long ago that it's been...uh.. 3 years since Sakura's initiation as Tsunade's apprentice? but according to this week's chapter, shouldn't it have been 4 years??
my brain hurts.

So WSJ is released early in China than Japan?
Sorry, my brain feels like Caboose's right now. I wonder what's causing it.

I don't think there's a plot hole at all. In fact, the movie goes to quite a bit of effort to foreshadow Naruto's birthday.
That's why the tie-in with Naruto's birthday in this chapter of the manga jumped out at me. It seems to me that the movie's focus on it was intended as a reminder that his birthday is pivotal to the story.

Makes sense to me. Lol, nerd. I don't know what's wrong with that. Thanks for that. Can't you believe I still didn't see the movie?

I would hate the series ending with a birthday cake.
