To be honest I've been a fan of Sony since it's ps1 days. I picked up the large as hell, the first Xbox, but I always preferred ps2. When the 360 came out it was the first time I slightly was ever preferred the xbox to a sony system. Then my first 360 malfunctioned. I bought a ps3 and I found it was a system with higher quality and it was backwards compatiable so I could continued owning the library that I acquired with my first ps1. I don't know, I think MS started getting into the whole gaming business with good intentions but I think they've grown farther and farther away from the gaming community. The draconian policies they tried to enforce with the XB1 is a good example of it. And while granted I don't think Sony is a corporation that is solely in it for gaming alone, I think they have a better grasp on their audience.

But if anything the next few years should be interesting in gaming.

I've been a gamer ever since I got my hands on a Sega Game Gear.

I started there, went to the Fat Gameboy, and then to the GB Advance.

For Sony, I started with them during their glorious PS1 days (RE1-2, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro), and then I got a PS2 early 03-04?

And I switched to Xbox for Halo and a few other games, and then 360 for GoW, Halo 3, etc. (Only because PS3 had a lackluster launch + high price point)

But I got a PS3 late 2006 and have stuck with it as the primary system since.

Don't get me wrong, both are money hungry corporations, but at least Sony knows what their core audience wants from them (a mistake they didn't see at PS3 launch). Now they're coming back with an edge.

But with the XB1, their gamble was way too big. Like Nowhere Man says, I think this new decade of gaming will be interesting.

If they just made kinect an optional thing, they wouldn't have this problem.

Microsoft doesn't understand the word "optional".

This is the company that took away the Start Bar from their latest OS.

what... ok the signatures in that petition have to be from trolls or XBox fanatics who think Microsoft is always right. Who in their right mind would want the DRM back :I ?

When I bought my new computer it took me so long to figure out how to turn the damn thing off, I think Microsoft just wanted to make you keep the computer on,

First off I Love your Signature, I can see bits of Kushina, Naruto and Sakura in the face.

Yeah I agree that petition was either made by Sony fanboys to troll MS fanboys or the Hardcore Fanboys who think everything MS says is gospel truth, gotta love the fanboys, Sony, MS, Nintendo Google and Apple all have them, though arguably Apple has the worst of the bunch. Someone needs to tell them to look at the product objectively and decide on the merits of the product itself and not the label on the box.

It was a good thing MS reversed their DRM policy but that's only the beginning, they have allot more work to do to convince everyone apart from fanboys why they should consider the XB1. They still need to justify the extra £80 price tag, games alone don't mean anything, they need to give a solid reason and considering Kinect is a feature that for most of us we could live without it's not a viable reason to be $100 more expensive, specially as all reports suggest the PS4 is almost a third more powerful.

For me I have issue's with the Proprietory port for the Headset, they haven't explained why they needed to change the port for something that's been standard for decades. Why the wired controller don't work with the XB1, I understand the wireless tech has changed but I see no reason why my Madcatz Arcade stick won't work on it. Also i'm weary of them supporting the console with exclusives for the full life cycle of the console or give up after four years like they did with the 360.

It comes down to trust, can I trust MS to still support me as a consumer few years down the line or will they be too busy trying to sell the next Kinect type device to the casual gamer?

@harry4e Yeah that's another thing. Why isn't the Kinect optional? Why pay an extra 100 bucks if you might not even want to use Kinect?  I've always preferred PlayStation because I've been playing it since I was a 11 year old girl. I was hoping XBox 1 would make me like both but it's not really changing my mind :I . Buut we got them to get rid of the DNR, maybe we can get them to change other things we think are a problem for the gaming community.

Anyway, she could be better or worse though (but how can you get worse with Xbox1 0_0). Until she starts doing her job, I will be cautious *squints eyes

I'm not getting an X-Box 1 and even I disagree with that notion. They will be losing customers that way even if they do make more money for games themselves. Besides are they expecting all their customers to buy the game at full price with without financial burden? I mean they would have to consider that there are those that may Buy the Xbox without internet and that there are those that will buy the game but are having hardships with money and buying the game would at full price could cause upset in their budget. If they want more customers, they need to be more sympathetic to such cases. Point is, Locking the game to one person would ultimately hurt both the consumer and the company ultimately. I see more cons than pros here.

Good, like everything else they 180'd on, it should never have been in the first place. The last and most difficult hurdle left, is the kinect's mandatory inclusion, that makes the whole thing so pricey. I doubt it, as the kinect remains their biggest point of emphasis coming into the next generation, I'll get an Xbox1 in a few years when it's price cut, as I don't wish to back the guys who tried to create some of the worst policies in the industries' history.

They actually did a good plan of scrapping the Kinect for console release. Still, I still support my decision of not buying the console.

It doesnt require kinect but still is built-in on the console, like i said Sony will have the upstart because of the price.

At E3, we announced that Xbox One would be available in 21 markets around the world at launch. This was an aggressive goal and the team has been working very hard to deliver Xbox One to as many markets as possible.

Our priority is ensuring our customers get the best Xbox One experience the first day it is available. To do that, and in order to meet demand, we have adjusted the number of markets that will receive Xbox One in November to 13 markets, including Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand, in November.

We remain committed to launching Xbox One in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, as soon as possible in 2014.

While we wish we could launch Xbox One simultaneously in these markets, there are many factors that determine the timing of specific market launches. This includes work to localize the Xbox One dash, incorporate additional voice and languages, and build partnerships to bring apps and meaningful local content to each country.

We understand this will be disappointing news for our fans in the impacted countries, and we are doing everything we can to bring Xbox One to you as soon as possible next year.

If you are in these markets and have questions about your pre-order, please contact the local retailer where you placed your pre-order. To show our appreciation for your patience, if you have already preordered an Xbox One Day One system before today in those countries, you will also receive a pack-in game with your console when it launches.*

Thank you for your patience – we are grateful for your support and remain committed to delivering the best Xbox One experience for your market.

Not too surprising, as they are going to have to make a strong effort to defend its mass market share in the US and UK from Sony. This is most likely due to yield issues.  They are giving away a free game, which is generous.
