*latches onto the new Shakespeare fan*
Shakespeare is looooove. How many of the plays have you read? I can recommend a few if you'd like! =D
(And you can't forget the sonnets, of course!)

Hated R&J? D: Aww... Was it because of how stupid the main characters are? 'Cause honestly I like the side characters enough that I forget the couple when I'm reading sometimes XD Like Friar Lawrence, or Tybalt <3
If you like the romantic comedies, try: Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing (my. absolute. favorite.), Taming of the Shrew, The Tempest, or As You Like It.
For tragedies, try: Titus Andronicus (freaking awesome), Othello, King Lear...
I'd have to go dig through my bookshelves to give you more, but those are some of my favorites =]

No problem--always makes me happy to find someone else that likes Shakespeare, since none of my friends are into his stuff ^^
Overrated, I can definitely agree with; the fact that it's the most-taught play in schools doesn't make much sense as there isn't anything particularly significant about it's plot or structure... And it's not as if it makes being introduced to Shakespeare any easier than other plays. The only thing I can come up with is that the theme of teenage romance is appealing and easy to relate to, but teachers could just as easily use The Taming of the Shrew or Much Ado for romance--at least they have happy endings (and they come with better modern adaptations for movies!).
