I knew it had many problems, but I didn't see it bad because I cared too much for the characters. Story, well, that was out of option. In biased yet not fully view, I did care for Naruto and Sakura only because what their character once set to do. Sasuke I cared but I was very afraid on how Kishi would handle it. Turns out the worst did in fact happen. I remember once Hagoromo said that Sasuke is needed, people already had bad feelings that him saving them equals all be bygone. That ended up true.

Same, I also knew it had many problems, though I didn't really want to admit it

I remember even defining it at one point...

But I had this feeling that the story and characters were going to be completely destroyed somehow as soon as my friend sent me the spoilers for the ending.  

 

 

So I found my old databook in one of the rooms, and while I was reading it my expression was going OMG so much contradictions first off Sakura's feelings were changing from Sasuke to Naruto. That was stated in the actual book and I looked at the popularity poll Sakura made 6th place while Hinata made 11 place. So again where da kitten does is the evidence that Hinata was getting popular over Sakura. All of it is just a bunch of BS thankfully I double checked myself to make sure I was being delusional about it.

@WhyDoIWatch: I get that you like the Sasuke character and laid out every excuse there is for him. The biggest thing with me is that Sasuke no matter how tragic his past was, made the choices that turned him into the thing he swore to avenge. A murderer! Like AHK noted he killed samurai that he had zero affiliation with. They just happened to be in his way. If any of those samurai had children is it okay for them to seek out Sasuke and try to kill him or anyone else that gets in their way? Murder is unforgivable. Plain and simple. There's an old saying "before one embarks on the path of vengeance, be sure to dig two graves." That should have been what happened to Sasuke.

The Samurai were armed "ninjas" who knew what they were getting into, its not like they were some innocent civilians, while Sasuke instigated it he isn't going to let himself be killed............And about making excuses for him, I only do that to characters that deserve it not ones I like.

Sasuke's crimes aren't big enough to be forgiven? What? He helped start the war, he attacked the 5 Kage, he murdered dozens of samurai, he joined a terrorist organization, attacked a foreign nation, and he tried to slaughter the 5 Kage and take over the world. Killing those samurai is just as bad as killing anyone else in the series. Sasuke deserves zero levity for his crimes.

Edit: Just to put this in perspective, Sasuke had an active hand in reviving the Juubi. Everyone that died in the war because of the Juubi, Sasuke holds partial blame for their deaths. He killed Neji just as much as Obito did. Sasuke is partially responsible for tens of thousands of deaths.

I dont understand why some people think sasuke crime is not big enough to be sentence to death. Sasuke's a main character and is way too popular to die; as always the fandom interferes with storytelling.  I don't hate Sasuke and in fact feel bad for him, but his SasuSaku pony rainbow ending was just BS.  He deserved better closure with his family, not forced into the NH/SS fantasy.

If Sasuke loses the man he loves he will try to take over the world again.

 

Kakashi: Oh come on, Naruto wouldn't force people into a violent lifestyle just so he can feel good about himself.

This is the same man who gambled with the lives of every known human being just so Sasuke wouldn't be hurt... he literally would have been fine with Sasuke taking over the world if he couldn't beat him.... He wouldn't even think about killing Sasuke after he almost killed you and Sakura! Naruto does what he wants! He gave up only once in his life, and now he does nothing but drink and eat ramen well waiting for this job to open up! He is the man who pushed your predecessor out of the way, despite the fact that she was a Grandmother figure to him! For God sakes he called her a drunk to get rid of her!

I don't know... then in private he told me "Hey at least she has big kittens... and you know a Hokage needs to have a wife, I don't want to be like Kakashi, I have enough gay rumors about me and Sasuke going around as it is."

Shikamaru: No, Naruto thinks your gay, because the dumbass doesn't understand human emotions. Look sir. I agree with what you are saying, but we just can't do it. Naruto wants to be Hokage, it doesn't matter if the world doesn't need a Hokage this is what he wants and he will get it, and we will have to give it to him, because we can't risk another war.

 

Kakashi: *sighs* How many people will suffer just for Naruto's ambitions?

 

Shikamaru: A lot... but it's better then the alternative. Sasuke will stay in check, and I will be here to make decisions well Naruto takes in the cheering crowds for his ego.

Kakashi: We can only hope for the early death of Sasuke and Naruto if that's the case.

Kakashi: Just... I don't know. Go have them buy Hinata some wedding gifts or something. Her happiness seems to be all that matters right now. Everyone but her is miserable, might as well keep it that way.

I agree with part of your point but I don't think Sasuke should've died or the things he did were unredeemable

What happened in the manga is that KIshimoto had no idea where to take SAsuke character making his overall goals a huge mess. His last goal ( the one about "revolution") though made sense in the story perspective and could be worked upon however Kishi once again showed his inner genius and promptly forgot about it.

 

Kishi also failed to properly showcase Sasuke redemption, this is partly due to his stupid insistence that the SN fight should be the last one of the manga, in my opinion the story would've had more potential otherwise

That's just it, excuses can only carry you so far. Kakashi offered Sasuke one option and the sound 4 offered him another. Now the ball is in his court. It's his choice. No one made that choice for him. He made it himself. Just like the samurai. He chose to instigate a fight that he knew would be the death of those men. Oh and that revolution idea kishi had for Sasuke only works in manga. It could never actually work on a grand scale. It does however work miracles in the military. When guys in my unit started getting on each others nerves we could always count on one of our COs to come along and pisses all off. Then we no longer hated each other and started hating him instead for a certain amount of time. Then it would pass and then we'd do it all over again.

What I didn't like about the ending was that it seemed like Sasuke used Naruto and Sakura to get himself a free pass.  That it didn't matter what he did, he could plan mass genocide and try to kill Naruto and Sakura themselves but at the very end they would always bail him out.  They love him but he doesn't love them.  Thus they are made fools of while Sasuke gets his "happy" ending.

Attacking 4 Kages when 3 of them are asses is barely a crime that is irredeemable, Heh they were not "dozens" at max it was probably 10, what foreign nation did he attack?, and those were threats that were stopped by Naruto and will be kept secret (LOL).

 

That ridiculous, Obito killed Neji Sasuke is not responsible as much as Obito for his death, Sasuke fought Bee but he failed, Obito found the Tail after he realized this.

If Sasuke crimes were as much as Obito/Gaara I would agree that redemption is not OK and he should be locked up (Even though no one but Naruto could do that)
