There's no such thing as true love.
Using an absolute statement to refute an absolute doesn't work well.
I believe in a more complicated version, a single connection that stays with you for a lifetime but doesn't necessarily mean a happy ending.
A person can fall in love many times during a lifetime. But when they're dying in bed of old age they might think of a single person.over any other. And it might not be the wife or husband they had for thirty years.

I think that's a reasonable way of thinking about things, particularly your concession that such a view doesn't guarantee a happy ending. I don't necessarily think your example needs to be romantic love, though. A last thought could be about a parent, or sibling, or lifelong friend.
My problem with the notion of true love or soul mate is that it romanticizes the idea of love and marriage and fails to appreciate the fact that it is a lot of work, communication, and compromise even between two people who are extremely compatible. It also sends the same sorts of negative messages towards people that does Kishi's "women can't change their minds."

Once again, you infer quite a bit about my life. It's condescending and wrong and makes you look like an absolute moron. And you seem incapable of comprehending my point. You have no idea whether or not I'm married or if I'm in love. Just because I don't believe in some notion of "true love" doesn't mean I don't know what love is; or that I believe it exists.
If you believe in love then you believe in "true" love. The word true simply means "in accordance with fact or reality". Therefor you are making a distinction without a difference. Proving my point further. I have seen first loves that have never ended and that are true as anything else in the world. A is A. It is the first law of the laws of thought/reason. True love is nothing more then a statement of identifying a feeling as the genuine article separating it from other emotions that are similar to it.
I actually think your "recognize your soul mate" post supports my position perfectly.
Then you are arguing either to be an ass, or in the belief that you have something better to say then what I posted. After reading what you have written I'd say it's the first and not the later.
here are lots of people with whom I am compatible and could imagine falling in love with. That's why I think the idea of soul mates or true love is silly. It's a corrupting social view that makes us think there's only one person out there for us; or one way to live and love.
You must not be reading the same thing I posted obviously then. His point is to use your reason as well as your emotions, and life experience to find your true love. I can not help it that you are hung up with false ideals that have their roots in behavioral psychology. The world is not just a stimulus and response action, mankind moving beyond such animalistic simplicity is one of the defining aspects of our humanity. Searching for love is the same as searching for anything else, its about using your tools to find and achieve a goal.
What you describe is little more then lust at best, and is a rejection of the ideal of love itself which is based on both selfish and selfless desires and actions between two people, for themselves and between themselves alone. What you argue for cheapens the very notion of individual self worth, for you are arguing that people can be weighed and measured, exchanged and traded accordingly with their largely being little difference between individual actors. The same way a person trades in an automobile when it no longer runs how they want it. You seem to treat love the same way most people treat commercial enterprises. I can tell you now that such an idea that boils down to "that hundreds of people could fill the same role" is the rejection of the very notion of love itself as it is understood in the ideal of romantic eternal matching. To believe what you have stated I would have to reject the idea of individualism itself. What you are suggesting is an idea that is found in many faulty philosophical and psychological schools of thought. Ideas I do not now nor will I ever follow.
Life isn't a Disney film.
No one is claiming it is. We do live in a world though where words have meanings and ideals behind them that have a purpose and exist on their own. A is A. Love is real for men and women have experienced it as they have experienced any other emotion. True love is as real as true anger, true happiness, true joy, true hatred, or any other genuine emotion. If you wish to debate me further you can do it by PMing me.

Guys remember that episode of Friends, where Rachel and Ross go to a judge to get an annulment? And judge looks at the paper Rachel gave her. And asks if anything is real. And Rachel says "The names I guess"!
This is the same for the Last. Characters personality and even apperance changed. Including the story etc etc. Until the only thing recognizable reamained were the characters names!

The fact that you call me an ass is the funniest thing I've read on this forum in weeks. Do you own a mirror?

I wouldn't watch it. You can get by simply reading reviews and write up, especially from other members here who have put themselves threw it. I've wasted enough time on this bad story. Which is a shame, because there really is a great environment that Kishimoto has built. To bad he could not finish it correctly.

I am only using a romantic context because the conversation I thought was focused on the romantic aspect of love.
I don't disagree with your overall position but I think the playing field is being muddled a little. I don't feel like the concept or ideal of soul mates and true love should be dropped, because some people may feel it the best to express their relationship in those terms. What should be considered is whether they actually understand what a relationship means first and foremost.
How can one even get to expressing someone as their soul-mate if one doesn't even know how a relationship should properly function?
My point is if people don't have a functional understanding of what relationships and commitment mean. Nor what positive interactions these things should entail, then the ideal doesn't matter because the perspective is skewed from the get-go

Sakura and Ino probably set up a contest as to who can get pregnant first, so brand name-Sasuke and discount-Sasuke were taken by surprise which later on = Salad and Inojin. Gotta keep that rivalry strong after all

Then you just nailed it. Not everytime I get a chance to do something weird and slightly stupid as this LoL. Maybe God wants me to stay sane and logical that he sent me something that is more useful to fill my schedule
EDIT:
