Nothing wrong with this. I'm pretty evil also considering what I'm gonna do if NS becomes canon. pictureem0.gif th_7eyytubokky7rehok1k.gif

NaruSakuG

Hinata reminds me of Makoto or whatever her name was. The darker haired girl. LOL It was alright at first but as you've said, it went downhill when he turns into a player. LMAO.

Hey don't reveal your evil agenda XD.jpg

Exactly. laugh.gif

I was like "Way to go!" for him going to his best friend, who happened to be well you know. Then after episode 6...he became my hated character. Granted people might think "Aight yo, that's my boy" but not me, man, and I'm a guy. The ending was truly wtf but yeah, that anime got way out of control. All I can say is nice boat.

Ah, School Days... good times, good times. 111189.gif

I can't even remember how many times I said "Are they serious?" as I watched that mess of a show.

Funny, I always assume FT is the worst series for teenage girls, due to overblown questionable fanservice. I always ask my gf about that and she was like, "Sigh, well it's close to get to those magic RPG feeling manga, so why not."

Fairy Tail is really bad for it too. There have been plenty of chapter that I've had a difficult time reading because of the fan service, such as Mirajane's one-on-one bikini battle with Jenny. rolleyes.gif

The reason why I still read that series is because I enjoy the plot and I'm curious about Lucy. I have been since it was revealed that her mother died on the same day that the dragons disappeared. It makes me feel like there's more to her than what we've seen... Plus, since the story is getting really intense now and I want to know what's going to happen, there's no way I can quit reading it. I'm too curious. LOL.

Like I said, fan service wasn't the only thing that turned me away from One Piece. It was easier to quit that series because the plot started to feel flat. I eventually lost interest and couldn't continue with it. The same thing happened with Bleach.

It's funny because they had it good in the first 6 episodes. It was flowing nicely, it had the main guy rethinking about his relationships with his girlfriend and best friend, and then at the end of episode 5, he decided to go with his best friend. It was nice. Then...rock bottom hit extremely hard. They had me, then they lost me.

I'll be honest, I haven't read One Piece in a while, but I will very soon. That said I understand what you mean. Yeah, that one-on-one bikini battle was just...yeah. It's only worse when you watch the anime. Trust me, they went head-on in that episode.

Good thing I stopped watching anime then. I feel like the anime versions of a lot of the good manga series have really started to suck. The only one that I actually enjoyed watching was Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth, and that's over. shamefulcry0js.gif

LMAO I remember him saying he didn't read it either before. Us artists are pretty critical when it comes to reading certain manga it seems and those long ass bodies are unbelievable. tongue.gif The only character design I liked was Nami's and that was because of her face and hair. LOL! I know, right? I'm not sure how any of the females are able to function normally. Their internal organs must be extremely compact!

I could look past the art style, for the most part, but Usopp's nose was the one thing I could not get over. LOL. He looks like Pinocchio.

It's funny, but I both agree with Slextrem and Codus on this one...to a point. High School of the Dead is one of those series however that I find many people look far to into the fan service. I know it exists, but the anime completely over boards it with the fan service more than the manga does. The manga still does it, but again there is an interesting story behind HOTD especially when you get farther into the manga. I do like the mach 5 boobs though mostly because that was an interesting scene in the anime. Sometimes I like over the top stuff. (No Pun intended.) The HOTD manga does do less and less fan-service as the manga goes on.

And you know there are fan service anime/manga aimed towards women as well. Would you say Fruits Basket is full of fan-service too? Seeing how a lot of the guys get naked more often than not.

So, Codus while I do agree with you that people's opinion of an anime shouldn't be based on fan-service alone there are some that are nothing, but fan-service and these kind of stories I tend to avoid myself. I am not totally against fan-service, but I hate it when it is unnecessary.

Slextrem: I know how you feel about that as there are some I got turned off of due to fan-service, but I have known people to utterly despise and beat down an anime or manga simply because of the fan-service not knowing there is a story there. I know you are not one of these people, but just saying that it is urksome when my intelligence gets attacked by some simply because I like High School of the Dead.

I find the fan service in HOTD a plot element in the story. Believe it or not, we are dealing with teenagers in a post-apocalyptic world. Sometimes the sexual connotations shows that they are still human. They retain a humanity not unlike the zombies or the crazy people who relish in violence. It also creates a sort of tension relief for the characters. I don't know about the others, but for HOTD I actually find it to be an important point to the story. Even one of the characters makes a point to it about how Takashi might be going insane and Saeko says "I will do anything to prevent that from happening. I am not going to reject my womanhood."

Take that as you will, but to me it kind of shows how the characters deal with things.

Okay? happy.gif. Although Codus, if I may say, I think you need a chill a bit man. You have been very "matter-of-factly" lately and I can see it when you make post at times. It is a mistake I know and I know you don't mean it, but might need to take a break from the forum if you feel stressed. Everyone has an opinion and Slextrem just wanted to say hers and not to put anyone down. She doesn't like that sort of stuff and we must respect that. As long as she understands the other view point, and I know she does, it's fine.

The OP manga has amazing art. The best of the big three. Kishi's art is more simple, but Oda is a more talented artist imo. The details and variety of character designs--every Naruto face looks alike especially if they have a Naruto personality lol XD

James, thank you for at least understanding that I'm not attacking people for reading a series with fan service. It's a personal thing. Sometimes I can handle it, sometimes I can't. That doesn't mean that I think it's trash or that those who read it are trash. I don't hate fan service, and it's never the only thing that keeps me away from a series, unless it's too graphic for me to handle, (which is the case for Kimi no Iru Machi...)

If you want to look at Fruits Basket that way, it could count as fan service, but seeing a topless man is less of a shock to me than seeing a woman with giant, bouncy, breasts hanging out of her shirt. There isn't really any sexual tension in that series either, so it's easier to overlook. I think the male characters of Fairy Tail are better examples of pointless female fan service, particularly Natsu and Gray - their abs are always on display. rolleyes.gif

With High School of the Dead, the fan service really did turn me off, (and I watched the anime alongside the manga, so maybe that had to do with it), but that's not the only reason why I stopped reading it. The issue that I had with that series, and I have this problem with every zombie/horror series, was the gore. I can handle it for a while, but then I start getting nightmares... The noises that the zombies make, the screams, and all of the blood... sick.gif I had to stop watching The Walking Dead because of it, which made me so sad because I think that series has an amazing storyline. I'm not willing to risk how well I sleep at night just to see what happens though.

Anyway, there's always more to it than just the fan service when I stop reading a series. It's usually that combined with something else.

Fanservice? Naruto itself had that a few times, mainly this:

Though it was funny, there is no need to describe how quickly the fangirls took to their fanfictions..(just a dumb joke nothing intended laugh.gif )

To sum up the results of fanservice:

I've always loved that scene since it shows that even in perversion Naruto and Sakura can find common ground. Those two are gonna have a lot of fun when they get together. heheelq7.png

Part of me has always wondered if this was a hidden jab at the true nature of Sakura's romantic feelings for Sasuke. Sure, she genuinely cares for Sasuke since they were part of the Team 7, but when it comes to the romantic side of her feelings it seems to lean more towards his looks.

That's not something you can say about Naruto's feelings for Sakura. He does find her attractive, but he likes her mainly because she reminds him of himself (seeking acknowledgment).

Naruto does have fanservice. It's just been a while and one could argue that this is probably the least amount of fanservice manga in Shounen Jump, though not the only one. I mean Kishi has a chance in manga covers, but it's been too long. I guess you can say it's not bad to have one. Granted you can say the movie does count, but yeah, took him a long time. Other than that, I'm actually happy that he doesn't go overboard. Funny, because I thought this manga was going to be PoT of battle manga. tongue.gif

Fanservice is also quite ackward. Sawyer made a good point that it's hard to convince people that you're reading a legitamite story when the cover of the volumes you are reading are like this :

Of course this was just when I was first reading bleach. I told a lot of people how awesome it was and all they did was take one look at the volume covers and decide that it was just porn sleep.gif It really annoyed me. Since then I stopped caring but back then it really irritated me.
