Seriously they really are blind if they think sakura isn't the most popular female character in naruto and has a huge fanbase in japan, kishimoto-sensie's main fanbase. Honsetly, they aren't true naruto fans because they're practically bashing the main heroine of the series who has had AMAZING and deep emotional development, both romace-wise , character-wise and-power wise, and the love interest, Haruno sakura, of the main hero, Uzumaki Naruto. That alone is an insult to kishimoto-sensie's work. Not to mention they rub off the japanese culture, which is important to know if you wanna 100% understand the details of the manga.

First of all, Happy year to you!

Then I come to the point here. Now while I'm reading Uchu Kyodai (a beautiful manga about the space, I recommend it you) and I hit on a panel. (the story talk about two brothers who are pursuing the same dream). Notice whay says the main character in the first two panel...

http://www.mangapand...u-kyoudai/47/11

Funny, isn't? heheelq7.png

And they say that embracing people in Japan is just a fraternal move. But I think that those panel just prove that japanese culture is different from us.

Not basically the same thing.
One was a thank you and the other was a goodbye.
both with different contexts.
the second is sad and tragic.

I'm speaking about the way the hands are being held. Obviously the first has romantic context, and this chapter's was similar.

Eh, the hands don't have to be intertwined to be romantic.

Your post reminded me of something:

http://www.mangapand...m/naruto/600/10

http://mangastream.c...uto/26074227/18

Basically the same thing. I guess intertwined is more intimate, but both ways can have a romantic context.

I would also note that in the manga we have seen forehead kissing between Tsunade and her brother and between Tsunade and her lover. It is the context that makes the forehead kissing romantic. We have seen Itachi say "I will love you forever" not to his love interest (or so I hope) but to his little brother. Again, it is the context that should inform us whether something is platonic or romantic.

I'm sorry but i really have doubts if that handhold of Obito/Rin was romantic, i mean he entrusted Rin to Kakashi, for me it was not romantic but sad and tragic, he sacrificed himself for her, it's not the handhold that made the scene romantic but the context of it.

Would be at least a little similar if neji died and told "Take care of hinata while she holds Neji's hand"

The way I see it, it's a romantic situation, but it's not mutually romantic. Much like the hug in chapter 450, it was a romantic moment between Naruto and his love interest, but it doesn't mean Sakura is in love with Naruto.

Just like how in this scene Naruto has no romantic feelings for Hinata, but she does for him. It's one of those scenes where the background is purely white; something Kishi has done for most romantic moments in the manga,

With Obito and Rin, even though the crush was one-sided I still felt as if Kishimoto was trying to make the moments mutual. Probably to have a bigger impact on the audience (which honestly didn't work for me, haha).

I'm not trying to draw parallels as I don't believe in them. However the way the hands are held in 600 was what Don said couldn't be romantic. In that scene between Rin and Obito it obviously was.

You are right. Naruto taking Hinata's hand could at this point be interpreted either way, platonic or romantic, just like the hug between NS.

Edit. Let's not forget this one either: the only kiss (about the most intimate thing, aside from anything sexual) we have seen so far in the manga was not a romantic moment in the least. Context determined that.

kids blushing in the background.

But what make the scene romantic is the fact that Naruto received the acknowledgment of everyone though Sakura's hug, there nothing more romantic to a hero to receive this just from the woman he loves.

I had an image run through my head while I was still partially asleep this morning. I guess this would be my dream scenario of chapter 616:

This would be so awesome --Click here to view--
Naruto performs "Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu", and has one clone appear beside each member of the alliance. The clones hold hands with everyone and gives them chakra, (This is part of Shikaku's plan). Then we get a close up of Sakura's with the shadow clone. Naruto's clone holds out his hand, smiles at Sakura and says:

"Sakura-chan, let's fight together!"

She looks down at his hand before looking back at him and smiles.

"Yeah! Let's do it!"

She then grabs his hand, he surrounds her with the Kyuubi cloak, and we get a bad ass image of the two heading for Obito. fu.png

Of course, this is all just in my head. I have high doubts that something like this will actually go down next chapter, but a girl can dream. LOL. I would love to have a scene like this followed up with Sakura kicking some Jyuubi ass. sakura.gif

It all matters to the atmosphere and interpretation from outside or within. The hug is no doubt interpreted as romantic, regardless if Naruto is confused and Sakura doesn't realize it. It's the mood of the surrounding that address the feel and this one is obvious. Again, Kishi didn't need to do the hug scene, but he did. For now, the hand holding is to pass chakra. It all depends on how the whole scene interpreted. Not going to argue here. Feel free to disagree.
