To be brutal honest here. I would probably check out first several chapters, just because of Salad!

uchiha really do get top billing in this series. uzumaki's are just the figure head, uchiha's are the ones who run the show. it's clear that kishi loves him some uchiha, so why even title it naruto gaiden when it would make more sense to call it sarada gaiden. kishi playing favoritism really did hurt this story.

 

when i think about it, sasuke was probably some self insert for kishi at time.

I didn't see any woman besides Sakura due to plot needed and Shizune for reminding us why on earth is she still young.

So after saying that I would never read/watch/play anything Naruto-related again, saw some comments speaking about the whole Salad situation. Came here, found out more about it, so in the end, decided to at least skim through the chapter.

 

Now, I'll stress that I skimmed through the chapter, so I'm not 100% on anything. But a few things:

 

i) As first suspected during 700, Salad may not be the child of Sakura

ii) I didn't see any advanced tech in the manga

iii) No mention of Himawari or Hinata

 

Why have I brought these things up? There are a few things I wanted to discuss/ask regarding these:

 

i) This is something that I believe was planned in advance. Whether or not this turns out to be anything remains to be seen but right now I'm treating this as a red herring. Why Kishi decided to do this, I have no idea. An attempt to gain back SK/(maybe some NS fans) for the meantime and keeping them on by allowing them to grow connections with these characters and their stories? (To be more clear, is Kishi using this as a lure?) Could be. For right now, that's my main line of thought. What do you guys think?

 

ii) Did you guys notice any advanced tech? It's probably somewhere obvious (but again, I skimmed the chapter) (Was it too ridiculous to even keep in there?)

 

iii) Was this due to a strong dislike that has developed for Hinata, or is it only a matter of time before she plays a larger role in the story? 

 

These are just some thoughts I had on what I understand of this chapter. Having Sasuke come back next chapter might answer some questions but it's way too early and it's probably just something that can tie in with the movie.

 

Basically, I guess what I want to know is what Kishi is doing? He sacrificed the series itself to make NH/SS happen, so for SS to be thrown aside like that, was it all for nothing?

No No. Kishi perused the Internet and took what was originally no more than an easter egg and turned it into another source of pointless drama that is sure to have an unsatisfying resolution. He doesn't know where he wants to take this series. No one does.

 

As for Hinata and the other girl, he has no idea what to do with them either. This story is about Bolt and Sarada having mean dads and how Kishi himself had a hard time working and being a father simultaneously provided you disregard that there's not a damn reason for Sasuke to be gone for 13 years without so much as a word, much less for Naruto to not have the shadowclones do the paper work while he personally spends time with his kid. Instead, what we have here is forced and pointless drama.

I'm not trying to give Kishi any credit (would never do that) but in my opinion, that design choice was intentional. The Bolt movie was announced the same time that The Last was released, the chapters were available then, so it's entirely possible that this whole Salad thing would be addressed. In my opinion, this Salad situation was planned. As far as him not knowing where he wants to take this series, I totally agree with you.

 

Definitely. Himawari and Hinata have no use, they were only there to make NH shippers happy. Well, everything has been about the movie(s) recently, ever since they started canon movies they had to change the manga to fit with it (although that wasn't done well at all). This manga is nothing more than a lead up to the movie. Good point about the shadow clones, I actually hadn't thought of that lol.

This series has gone so bad with the bullcrap. The Star Wars prequels had better romance because at least they tried to show development. In the manga it was a joke with NH. This was bullcrap at its finest because it doesn't make sense and it was so random. Hinata was a okay character at first buy now I loathe her entirely.

Kishi has well and truly destroyed her character. If 699 wasn't bad enough, this completely ruins it. If Salad is, by any chance, her daughter, that OG photo shopping makes her look worse than the fangirl from part 1. There's no coming back for Sakura unfortunately. Against my better judgement I paid Forneverworld's channel a visit and took a look at the comments. Even though Sakura bashing/hating has always been around, there is just no way to defend her character any more.

I'm quite happy I never given a flying kitten about what 'those kinda people' though about...well...everything, and I'm also pretty happy that I've never lost time watching any of those reviews. (I'm kinda giving myself a pat on the back for this).

 

Call me too emotional but what happened to Sakura makes me nauseous, especially when I think that these situations, even though we're talking about a manga, happen, and frequently, in RL too and I'm the kind of person that gets too emotionally attached to fictional characters  . 

For me seeing her reduced this way is like seeing an old friend going nowhere with his/her life no matter how much he/she tried. It sucks even if I know she took kitten life decisions. 

I don't like Sakura because she's an awesome baddass character, I like her because I had seen her grow. And now I'm sad because I've seen her plummeting down. 

 

Meh. I should totally stop trying to rationalize this kitten. Me and my silly logic. Logic has no place here.
