Motion comic?

Very interesting. And woohoo, a fight for Sakura. I really hope she will kick some arse. Next week, I believe we get a trailer. This should be good for next couple of weeks.

He does have the final say, the editors just suggest things that they think will make the story flow best, etc... Kishimoto let the editors persuade him to focus on Naruto and Sasuke- being that it's a story in Shonen Jump, let him persuade him to not have Tsunade land a punch on Pain, and to write more on Suigetsu and Jyuugo. (It's clear from the way the main plot has gone that Karin was always intended to have the continuing role that she's had, but it sounds like the editors made a hard sell push about writing more with Suigetsu and Jyuugo, where it sounded like Kishimoto wanted to be done with them. Kishimoto kind of vaguely hinted at annoyance on the last, while he seemed really embarrassed about Sakura not getting the focus he promised, and not completely sold about his editors suggestion about not having Tsunade land a punch on Pain.

So with that I think that wasn't so much overt editorial pressure but maybe the editors made really encouraging responses about any chapters involving Naruto and Sasuke's plotlines- so Kishimoto got even more excited about writing those plotlines, while they made no comment about Sakura or Sakura and Naruto plotline chapters. I think it's the editors that aren't that keen on any overt romantic plotlines not that they are anti Sakura, and his editor prefers the story stay focused on male characters.

Kishimoto, when he writes romantic plotlines, really goes all out for a shonen action story- of the major shonen writers really only Rumiko Takahashi makes romantic plotlines more dominant in her stories- but she writes for Weekly Shonen Sunday not Jump. Shonen Sunday manga stories tend to include more dominant romantic plotlines than Jump.

Some of Kishimoto's best writing comes when he is writing chapters that focuses on the stronger willed female characters like Sakura, Kushina and Tsunade. And look at the movie plot- Sakura and Kushina are two of the four main characters. I think this movie will have some of that focus on the female characters.

No, if you read Bakuman, then you'd see how much power the editor has over the author. And more often than not, some even hinder the authors' talent greatly. Also, Kishi's editor changes once every few years or so. So some of those editors may have turned down Kishi's wishes to develop the characters that he wants to develop. (i.e. sakura and K-11)

And no. Currently, Hinata is the more popular character if you look at the last character poll.

Getting very excited for this movie!!!! I never really expected Sakura would play a really big part in this movie until some of this recent information, but wow, looks like she will indeed play a big role in this movie. I'm kinda feelin like getting some plane tickets and heading to Japan to watch this on the big screen lol. Not to mention -- music from AKFG, a_thumbs.gif

BTW, anyone know what the opening day for this movie in Japan is???

If they keep changing his work, I just have a feeling he's going to get really pissed off and go all out with what he wants for his story, not what editors are doing with it. dry.gif

Well, not change. But pressure. The editors often pressure the authors to do things their way or what they think will benefit Jump the most rather than let the author take the story where he wants it to go. Some are more lax in letting the authors do what they want, some don't. Which is horrible, because it hinders the author's creative talent. Sometimes this can also lead to Sakura's case here.

EDIT: bigger pic of the motion comic.

EDIT2: I found a fan art that parodies one of the promotional sketches. It's hilarious.

Editors give opinions and most of all they are the ones who decide the duration of the manga, kishimoto is the author but he has a contract to obey.
and do not forgot just because kishimoto is the author dont think he is the one who knows everything and cannot fail, i've seen so much fails from kishimoto and i dont think it's the topic to discuss those things here.

From the Japanese news article that announced AKFG is the band for the movie's theme.

QUOTE

On the 21th it became clear that the theme song for the 9th movie based on Masashi Kishimoto’s popular manga NARUTO – called ‘Road to Ninja – Naruto the Movie’ (directed by Hayato Date) – would be ‘Sore de wa, Mata Akittena’, a song by the four-men rock band Asian Kung Fu Generation.

In 2003, another song by the same band was chosen as the theme song of the anime edition of the same manga – and now, after an interval of nine years, the band will once again be in charge of the theme song.

Furthermore, it was decided that a special DVD supervised by Kishimoto-san and a miracle battle carddass will be given as a special bonus present to the first 1,500,000 theatre visitors.

The choice of Asian Kung-Fu Generation was also based on Kishimoto-san’s strong desire; as Kishimoto-san himself tells us heatedly, “When I was thinking of who should sing the theme song, I couldn’t help remembering Asian Kung-Fu Generation – who did one of the initial anime OP songs, with that perfect sound overflowing with a feeling of sprintness – and I thought, if only we could get them…”, and “By adding this song to the movie, for the first time I feel like it’s finally completed!”.

The band vocalist Masafumi Gotou commented “Thanks to Naruto, we now have a lot of fans in South America, in Europe and in Asia who listen to our songs. This time we could choose the theme song for the movie edition ourselves, and it was a great honour”.

The special DVD to be given to theatre visitors will contain a motion comic of the original work made with CG, a long interview with Kishimoto-san, a recording with Kishimoto-san’s answers to the questions submitted by his fans via twitter, and so on. It will be approximately 34 minutes long, and its cost was about 100,000,000 yen. It took more or less 2 months of work.

So, Kishimoto agrees with us. Haruka Kanata was simply the best Naruto OP EVER. And since he specifically mentioned and commented on it, that means there's a possible chance that they'll sing the last OP. How epic would that be!!?? If not them, I'd like SID to sing it.

Lastly, that Kushina card... I really hope we will see her in action. I can already see her as a bonus character when the next Naruto game comes out.

Huh. So that explains the earlier picture a couple pages back where Naruto was the Ace of Spades, Sasuke (King of Spades), Sakura (Queen of Spades), Kakashi (Jack of Spades) and Tobi as the joker.

I wish they shown the picture of Kushina and Minato as the 10 of spades, earlier so that we could have avoided the whole tarot/conspiracy blah blah.
