Popularity choice is the key to him. But not for the story. In a way, that's how you can dodge hate if people only cares for their character preference over story preference.

 

True. It's why unpopular characters pretty much turned to kitten in shippuden and why most newly introduced characters in shippuden ended up being meaningless characters due to neglect.

I find it funny how many people try to defend Hinata to the extreme like "Oh don't blame her she's a side character." I'm sorry but after reading Attack on Titan and seeing a particular side character similar to Hinata actually go through development and growth so that argument just doesn't apply one bit. I'm sorry I've got so much respect for the side characters in AoT cause Isayama actually knows what the hell he's doing with the story.  Plus that series looks like it's about to enter the final stages of the story and it's only been known for it's popularity for the past couple years. That is seriously saying something right there.

Yeah, not going to lie, but after exploring other series once more, side characters do in fact get developed quite a lot. Not as much as main character or very vital to the plot, but they do get a lot. It's funny because with Naruto and Bleach, they're opposite but have their own problems. Just a matter of which one you decide it's "ok" for you to accept with side characters.

I read in the interview that oda has a hard time before he make onepiece, to the point he almost give up on becoming mangaka.

Nope I was saying how the story at this point in time looks like we're entering the final stages of the manga, I mean don't get me wrong I could be wrong. Although according to Isayama in one of his earlier interviews I think last year he said Attack on Titan has gotten at least 2-3 years left or something like that. So if we do the math at this point in time 1 chapter comes out each month, and there are twelve months in a year. At least 4 chapters equals 1 one volume. So There is at least 3 volumes coming out each year. Right now Volume 16 just came out, we are currently on Volume 17 and by June  Volume 17 will be complete. So going from there From July to October would be Volume 18.  By that point we'd have 74 chapters completed. By the end of this year there would be 76. Then 88 chapters next year and it'll reach the 100 chapter mark by the year after that. I think from that point the series will be done because I don't see it going anywhere past the 100 chapter mark. Ofcourse I'm just speculating at this point.
