Do you guys think Kishi will tie-up the bench scene loose end from chapter 3? I mean it's possible that him acknowledging her forehead is when she fell in love with him, Kishi just hasn't shown us that specific scene otherwise we would figure out that it would be resolved and end the wars.

I think what Naruto was trying to say in 631 was that yes Sakura is his girlfriend because she is the girl that he is in love with but she wasn't his girlfriend as in already dating her being a couple that's way he answered with more or less . So i don't think that what he said showed that he was convinced that Sakura loves him .

Yes absolutely , i think it's to much big of a plot hole for not to be bringed upon again . Because that scene made Sasuke look like a better man in her eyes which is what Naruto said  it basically reinforced the false view she already had of Sasuke and create some new as she said that he was very sensitive or shy and that he can look right into her soul . The feelings she had back then were for Naruto not for Sasuke and what we saw in that scene was that the man of her dreams was Naruto the one who fulfilled her fairy tale .

Well first of all thank you for your offer and second of all can you please give us the correct translation of 540 (Lover Nin & Sakura part) and your interpretation of it since it seems that there are mixed feelings in here whether at first she was thinking of Sasuke as the only man she loves .

Yes absolutely , i think it's to much big of a plot hole for not to be bringed upon again . Because that scene made Sasuke look like a better man in her eyes which is what Naruto said  it basically reinforced the false view she already had of Sasuke and create some new as she said that he was very sensitive or shy and that he can look right into her soul . The feelings she had back then were for Naruto not for Sasuke and what we saw in that scene was that the man of her dreams was Naruto the one who fulfilled her fairy tale .

 

I get your point, but how is it a big plot hole? Sakura's a big girl now, it has not been shown since the beginning of part 2 that she dwells on that petty insecurity like she did years ago. And why would it matter if she thought Sasuke was prince charming back then? She knows how big of a jerk he is now. Chap 540 & 635 are clear indications of that. So that false view is already shattered. 

 

I actually want Sasuke to become good in his own right because Sakura shouldn't chose Naruto out of moral integrity like she did during her confessing.  She should chose him because that's what her heart tells her.

At this point, I really don't know how he's going to go about making NS canon.  I definitely thought that Sakura would realize her feelings when Naruto was on his deathbed.  That, to me, was a logical assumption, because his potential death always has seemed to bring extreme emotion from her.  Examples of this are the 4 tails scene, the Pain fight, the confession, which all were instances of Sakura showing extreme care for Naruto, and, IMO, coming closer to the realization of her feelings.  This newest chapter was the golden opportunity, and Kishi didn't take it.  I'm really hoping Kishi has something good in mind, and I hope he executes it really well.

Possibly I mean he does plan on Naruto and Sasuke going all kamikaze on each other later unless he plans on having them calmly standing up and dusting each other off I'm pretty sure he intends to have them on their deathbed again shortly

Eh even the stuff as recent as 663 will go somewhere, it just wasn't so soon as we had hoped. I mean after the scene where she remembers how he wants to be hokage, well something going forward in line with the other development should come again. Just not right now.

The thing with Kishi is that there's only one moment of its kind. I don't know the future holds, but if there's another wake up scene, that may be the one what we really waited for. You know what I mean? Kishi doesn't do two take of a moment. Well hardly, but it's like he has a code of "first time is the best of them all."

It's funny, but I always imagined what would happen if Naruto got cancelled in the beginning of part 2. I remember a show that clearly tells you that it got cancelled and it was hilarious. I believe they did it intentionally. Anyway, this is what I imagined how Naruto would have end, inspired from it.

Naruto just does Oodama Rasengan to real Itachi, so strong to the point it sends him back to Akatsuki's hideout with all of them inside, getting caught in the rasengan, and travels to Orochimaru's lair and take all of them, including Sasuke, with it. The explosion happens, Sasuke is knocked out but saved and back to Konoha as he's still KO. Konoha celebrates in Star Wars ep. 6 style, Sakura jumps to Naruto's arms, saying "Kiss me, you idiot!" She kisses him and Naruto says, "The future Hokage, Uzumaki Naruto!"

Lover nin is obviously talking about a person she had romantic feelings for (the great guy that Sakura came to like), and the person that comes to mind would of course Sasuke. She associates Sasuke with romantic feelings. I don't think that means he's the ~only man she loves~.

Reading through the last few pages of posts, I have to laugh that we're still talking about scenes from several years ago, and still no closer to knowing *exactly* what Kishimoto intended with each moment.

 

Why?  

 

A little story....

I've mentioned this before, but one of my real life best friends is a Japanese-American.  He was raised in the US, but steeped in his mother's culture and took many trips to Japan throughout his childhood.  From Day 1 he was raised to speak, read, and write both Japanese and English, and he does so very well.  

 

His mind is a perfect prism for translating from one language to the other and back again, and synthesizing the meanings of both the words and the culture behind them.  When the tsunami hit in 2011 and devastated the north east coast of Honshu, his aunt went missing and to calm his mother he flew to Japan to find her.  He was met off the plane by reps for the US Navy who, after scanning the flight manifest realized my friend was a veteran, asked him to liaise with Japanese officials and assist with translation and rescue efforts.  

 

After locating his aunt safe and sound, he ended up spending a month in country helping search for survivors.  He said the devastation reminded him of planets attacked by the Borg.

 

What's my point?

 

My friend also happens to read Naruto -- the raw, of course.  I rarely ask him questions about it, but occasionally request his insight on the nuances of specific scenes.  Knowing him as well as I do, I get a much better understanding when he explains the context.

 

Every time I ask him what he thinks Kishimoto is doing with SS vs. NH vs. NS he says, "Naruto and Sakura."  Every time I ask him if there's something I'm overlooking in the context, he says no.  Every time I've complained that the NS stuff is confusing, he says it's "supposed to be." 

 

Because we're not supposed to know or be sure.  If Kishimoto wanted us to be totally certain and confident he would have written the scenes in a way to preclude confusion.  They are confusing and maddeningly vague on purpose, and no amount of digging or reviewing or dissection will clear up matters.

 

We must wait for the payoff.  And in the meantime, try to just relax and enjoy the suspense, the build-up, and the final revelation of what Kishimoto has planned.  

 

This side of the revelation is more fun because once it's happened, it will all be over.  So we should enjoy it.

Yes, I also think Kishi makes babysteps when it comes to Sakura getting over Sasuke. 540 is a babystep, 635 too. One step at a time, no jumps. Which is why I think we'll get a proper solution to all of this. : D

Well in terms of paring it is imo because it reinforced Saskura's idea that Sasuke is her soul mate and her not knowing that it was Naruto back then just seems so wrong . Just because Saskura's a big girl now and hasn't dwell about that insecurity since P2 doesn't mean that knowing that someone loves that part of her that she hates won't have an impact on her . As of why would it matter if she thought of Sasuke as prince charming back then , well it would because even if she knows now how much of a big kitten he is now her image of him from back then won't be shattered because it would mean that Sasuke changed from the prince she once thought he was to what he is now when in fact he never was that prince to even begin with that projection/image of him that she created and loved will forever remain and she will never know the truth , the moment this scene is cleared up is the moment when her whole image of him will be completely shattered imo .

 

Good in what way as in P1 all thought he was a little selfish jerk even back then ? Also i agree that she should chose him because that's what her hearth tells her .

No, he doesn't say something like "the only person" or whatever. But to me, this scene is simple, she was thinking about Sasuke as the person she's already in love with, but when the guy say "he must be a great person" she's starting to doubt about her feelings or about Sasuke himself, because she knows that after all the things he did, he's not a good person. 

 

You just made me realise what Kishi did with this fodder ninja declaring his love to Sakura.
If he wanted to just let us know who she loves, then why did he add this " if he's the one that you love, then he must be a great person " ??

This has only ONE purpose. starting to trigger a change in Sakura's feelings.
Because come on. We already know pretty well that Sasuke doesn't please Sakura.
 

 

That's one of the things I don't like about 631, interpretation-wise. Naruto's reaction is so confusing. We can all agree that it confirms his feelings and debunks NaruHina, but what was up with his answer to Minato? If Naruto really thinks Sakura doesn't love him, then why wasn't his face drawn more comedic? He literally had a pokerface which is weird for him. He usually laughs or blushes when's he's being asked if she's his girlfriend, not straight-faced.

 

I personnaly think that he starts to accepts that she cares about him more than Sasuke.
And I think that he told "almost" to his father because she confessed.
I think Kishimoto is using it to show the progress.
 

 

There's two interpretations, this you said about and the second because Naruto didnt wanted to hear Sakura's answer because the situation is in a way similar to the kumo ninjas when they attacked Sakura and she was about to answer what Sasuke was to her, Naruto cut her off and on this scene Naruto did it again, he didnt wanted to listen to Sakura's answer so he said that she was more or less his girlfriend.
That's what i think, it's a drama moment where it makes the audience to guess what could be her answer but i believe she would likely say no, because Tsunderes always deny.

No it's not Naruto. It's Kishimoto IMO. He doesn't want to reveal Sakura's true feelings until the end ^^

Totally agree. I see an end with Sasuke even pushing Naruto and Sakura together. ^^

That would be cool with Sasuke all good, in the village, and Sakura turn to Naruto because she loves him.

That would be perfect end for team 7.

Many people are talking about the bench scene.

I'm almost sure this "Your forehead is so beautiful. Makes me want to kiss it" will come back some day. He used it again with Tsunade and Dan. This is like a red string in the story. He even used it between Tsunade and Naruto, in the memory of Nawaki and Dan.

Not to mention it would create another Minato/Kushina parallel

since Kushina fell in love with Minato right when she discovered he liked her hair, which would coincide with Sakura falling love with Naruto when he said she had a charming forehead (though she thought it was Sasuke so she fell in love with him instead) So it would make sense that this turned out to be the moment in time when she fell in love with him since there was no other point in time where we get the transition from fangirl to love interest after the first story arc it goes beyond simple fangirl crush. On top of that it would also tie everything up perfectly. IDK about you guys but I think it would be kind of awkward of an epilogue if Sakura and Naruto had a family though still sort of has feelings for Sasuke.

For me in order to be completely satisfied for NS to become canon I want her to over the Sauce.

That's the reason why open ending has a good chance.
In fact i dont think that she's in love with Naruto because there's nothing much of demonstration of that and plus the realization theory for me lacks one important factor.
I mean on the confession she thought about Naruto and her feelings later we have Naruto on deathbed and any of those moments made her realize "she's in love with Naruto".
So maybe NS is lacking an important moment?

Sasuke will probably became good and stop being a jerk again but how can Kishi make NS canon without coming out with the morality, also Sakura still cares about Sasuke.
Is Sasuke an obstacle to NS like he's for Naruto being Kage and Peace.
I think Sakura's scenario is very complicated.
