I doubt Kishi sees it that way. It's more like he's thinks he's getting the pairings who won't become canon (Presumably NaruHina, SasuSaku, and SasuKarin) something to enjoy towards the final stretch since they love the ship so much. He's not going to make them canon, but he's trying to soften the blow for them with some fanservice. More or less, Kishi's attempting the "trying to please everyone" tactic in storytelling which is resulting in some of his crappy plot twists pairing-wise. NaruHina, SasuKarin, and SasuSaku. This is why 615 and 627 are so frustrating. 615= Blatant NaruHina fanservice, there's no way Kishi didn't know what he was messing with there. 627= Karin's self-respect went down the toliet in that chapter all for some SasuKarin "moment" which disgusts me and only drives me to hate the ship, SasuSaku fans are getting their hopes up for a Sasuke to finally pay attention to Sakura. Honestly, he's not hiding any of this. Kishi's clearly not that serious with these pairings but he's doing it anyway. I'm assuming the pairing wars will only get worse when Sasuke mets up with Sakura and Naruto.

Kishi's playing with fire. I understand this desire for ambiguity but you don't need to purposely try to imply things that don't really mean anything, especially for the shipping fans. It's not like any of them are screaming canon (the moments, I mean; most of the fans are. ) but he's just raising hopes up, only to piss off several groups of people in the end who would understandly feel betrayed for being misled.

Kishimoto isn't even aware of the damage he's doing to this story by these shipping teases. 469 was enough to bring out pairing ambiguity. Hell, even 540! He did not need to add little tibits like 615 for example with that much fanservice. It ruins the storytelling and affects NaruSaku, even though I have no doubt he's aiming for them. This isn't smart to do or neccessary, this is trolling and overkill.

I'm also quite impressed with his decision to avoid the bullet with the possible NaLu vs NaLi shipping war that would've ensued if he was serious in making the latter a contender in the shipping arena.

Exactly why I love reading it compared to Naruto nowadays. And yes, he is being straightforward. But I like his trolling of the shipping fandom, it's a hell lot of fun. Remember the GraLu "scene" in the latest arc?? that was a hoot. Even the NaLu fandom was thrown off guard for a moment.

Now my question is, why can't Kishi's trolling be half as good as Mashima's??

Especially in the second part, he wanted to put the romance and in fact has added a lot of clues NS. He wanted us to understand, through words and actions, that in Sakura's heart her feelings for Naruto are not just feelings of friendship or even fraternal. Even in the last databook he did write (whoever for him or by his own hand) that Sakura still don't really know what she feels for Naruto. Even in some of the anime filler there are traces of her sentimental uncertainty. All this for what? To put her together with Sasuke at the end of the manga, as nothing have changed since the beginning? as if everything that he drawned was a big waste of time? I say that there were even less clues from Naruto towards Hinata (there is no single trace of his sentimental uncertainty), not to mention also that Sasuke never mentions Sakura romantically in the second series (and even in the first ).

What was the real purpose of Kishimoto with this uncertainty by Sakura, an uncertainty that we have never seen from Sasuke and Naruto? (ok that they are males and females in this manga are treated in terms pairings but...)

While, what we know for sure is that at the time of her confession she loved him. According to Kishimoto's interview on her confession, Sakura still loves Sasuke and Naruto is close to her heart. Her love for Sasuke is selfish. Though, I took another look at the Team 7 reunion when I was debating Crimson, and I noticed that there is a panel http://www.onemanga....to_manga/483/8/.
Where she first acknowledges that Sasuke has changed. This does make me wonder, because even though we had the first team 7 reunion, this is the first time in part 2 when she actually sees Sasuke's evil side when he asks her to kill Karin. Then we get 540 with the great man comment and her not being happy. Now, she should have figured Sasuke out a long time ago, but it seems like she is getting over him.

Actually he said she says she loves Sasuke but Naruto is close to her heart.

I belive that she thinks she loves Sasuke due to the crush she had but she loves Naruto.

Haha Well one thing is for sure, Naruto and Sasuke have to fight. We also can take it for granted that this Team 7 love triangle will be resolved then because of Naruto's words to Sai. If Naruto and Sasuke are to fight though, something has to change. Naruto is not going to change his alignment because he is the hero and is inherently good, which means Sasuke will have to either change back or keep his value of power goal in order for this to happen. Sakura can't just sit on the sidelines when this happens, either she will side with Naruto or Sasuke. My money's on our boy in orange.

Though maybe it's just me but I would question Sasuke's and Orochimaru's true motives. That whole chapter seemed forced.

The only thing that is unclear is will they fight before or after Madara and Obito are defeated?

I only see Sasuke being together with Sakura only if Naruto dies a hero. But it's highly unlikely because he always says he wont die. As for the uncertainty probably because she is the most human out all 3 of them. Which also means she has the burden of weakness and feels worthless compared to the others.

I think sasuke's arrival on the battlefield that is crucial for the development of sakura and NS, I think certainly sakura will overjoyed someway to see sasuke again, especially as it is now, but it will eventually understand his feelings are no longer the same as before, there is one factor that changed everything and this factor is called Naruto, now she dedicates absolute confidence in naruto whereas before she did not care royally naruto. sasuke is sakura's first love, which is why it is hard to forget, I think it will happen the same with Yugao in episodes 307 and 308,sakura will be surprised to see sasuke again, but it definitely will free itself of its weakness, the cause is sasuke, and see sasuke again is more than necessary for this . I think as many as the greatest moment of NS will happen in this war , and then naruto has never abandoned the idea that sakura love one day, and even if sasuke was present, it has only encourage more to show for his efforts sakura, so even if sasuke enters the battlefield NS is not finished, however it may be beneficial to push sakura to take a step closer to Naruto and thus have a beautiful development of her feelings for naruto . Even if kishi will too abusing alcohol or substance taken more than doubtful , and decides that sakura will directly join sasuk if he comes back and forget everything that Naruto has done it so far. Sakura had already saw again sasuke in the iron country and it was long time that they had not seen, is she joined sasuke ? Wrong assumption, Baguette is a very bright NS debater who loves to use logic and story consistency to backup his arguments, the problem is when the Author stop making sense in his own story and start ignoring stuff the he build up for many chapters while ignoring consistent, as a reader who use logical argument it becomes very confusing to figure what the Author really wants.
In other words when logic is your strong ally but the Author later on just decides to stop using logic on his story.

About choosing, isn't this what we are expecting her to choose Naruto over Sasuke and right now it seems to be that moment. When Sasuke will reach the battlefield we are going to see what happens exactly but right now we don't know if his plan includes Naruto or not. No matter how any fan would spin it Sasuke wouldn't have any plan regarding Sakura.
