If this is true, I'll be pissed since it's clear (although understandable) that the editors wants to focus on the more popular characters and ignore Sakura. Hell, if we think about it, some of the NH moments we've been getting may have been the cause of the editor too. Because you honestly can't deny that currently, Hinata is the more popular character.
Well the thing about focusing on Naruto and Sasuke probably was encouraged by his editors, considering it's Shonen Jump. I recall Kishimoto letting it out that in the Pain attack on Konoha Kishimoto's plans were to have Tsunade to land a punch on Pain but his editors told him that would take away from Naruto's battle with Pain, and that his editors wanted him to do more with Team Taka (the plotline makes it obvious Karin was always supposed to have more in the plot, but his editors must have liked Suigetsu and Jyuugo and wanted more with them in the story. None of Taka has ever ranked in any polls yet. Sakura is quite popular in Japan she either polls ahead of Hinata- most of the polls, or right behind. I don't think the Hinata stuff is from the editor, I think it's just Kishimoto throwing the rabid Hinata fans a bone to keep them quiet and reading. As people have noted if you look at it objectively, whenever Hinata and Sakura make appearances in the same chapter or close by ones, Sakura always comes out looking better- more professional and more skilled. If anything, when you look at it from that direction, Kishimoto is using this to showcase how good a ninja Sakura is.

wow kishimoto really had good suggestion to have tsunade land a punch on pain and have karin development.
why did the editors had to mess that up.

But anyway i can wait for the film. Its good to have sakura as lead role in the film.

The editors are kittenin' up the story. He was supposed to develop Sakura, Karin and make Tsunade punch Pain.

because no matter what we as narusaku fans think the editors are there to sell not just Naruto but the magazine in general in this case WSJ. they want the best bang for the buck so to speak to keep readers returning week after week.
that is their job!!!

He does have the final say, the editors just suggest things that they think will make the story flow best, etc... Kishimoto let the editors persuade him to focus on Naruto and Sasuke- being that it's a story in Shonen Jump, let him persuade him to not have Tsunade land a punch on Pain, and to write more on Suigetsu and Jyuugo. (It's clear from the way the main plot has gone that Karin was always intended to have the continuing role that she's had, but it sounds like the editors made a hard sell push about writing more with Suigetsu and Jyuugo, where it sounded like Kishimoto wanted to be done with them. Kishimoto kind of vaguely hinted at annoyance on the last, while he seemed really embarrassed about Sakura not getting the focus he promised, and not completely sold about his editors suggestion about not having Tsunade land a punch on Pain.
So with that I think that wasn't so much overt editorial pressure but maybe the editors made really encouraging responses about any chapters involving Naruto and Sasuke's plotlines- so Kishimoto got even more excited about writing those plotlines, while they made no comment about Sakura or Sakura and Naruto plotline chapters. I think it's the editors that aren't that keen on any overt romantic plotlines not that they are anti Sakura, and his editor prefers the story stay focused on male characters.
Kishimoto, when he writes romantic plotlines, really goes all out for a shonen action story- of the major shonen writers really only Rumiko Takahashi makes romantic plotlines more dominant in her stories- but she writes for Weekly Shonen Sunday not Jump. Shonen Sunday manga stories tend to include more dominant romantic plotlines than Jump.
Some of Kishimoto's best writing comes when he is writing chapters that focuses on the stronger willed female characters like Sakura, Kushina and Tsunade. And look at the movie plot- Sakura and Kushina are two of the four main characters. I think this movie will have some of that focus on the female characters.

Can you give me the source where it says the editors pushed him over?

He made the embarrassed comment about forgetting Sakura's plotline focus (that he promised at Jump Festa 2009) at Jump Festa 2011. And note how this movie, the only one Kishimoto has been fully involved in, has Sakura as a main character. The comments about the editor suggesting he not have Tsunade land a punch on Pain and writing more about Taka I think even appeared in Viz's US Shonen Jump in a translated interview. Someone want to track it down? I just came back from a vacation this morning- drove over 12 hours each way, and I'm currently feeling physically and mentally tired to do anything more for today, headed to bed for some more sleep right now.

Okay,
Not only that poster is sweet and AKFG is back to Naruto, but man, if that poster or whatever it is doesn't indicate the main characters w/ the main bad guy, then I don't know what is. Naruto's family, Sakura, and main villain (Tobi?) in one shot. Okay, I would like to see how Kishi try to dodge NaruSaku in the film (doubt it

What in the... KURAMA VS DARK KURAMA? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?
Also it seems the weird mask might be worn by Tobi judging by the black hair.
The other pics aren't nothing new. Just Minato and Kushina walking, Sakura looks like she's fighting, and there's a pic of Minato's trademark kunai. Since they're main characters that's to be expected.
Also, Naruto looks pretty cool with the longcoat. He looks more and more like his good old dad every day.
