Yep. I'm not sure how anyone could argue against that by this point--I don't think I've ever seen a more blatantly-obvious Mary Sue in my life.

Now take a moment and think about Naruto's words there...'I hate people who lie to themselves' and relate it to the reason behind him chasing Sakura.

 

Naruto much really hate himself then, all this time we called Sasuke the Emo, when it was Naruto who was the Emo all along, he loved pain so much, that he kept on lying about his feelings for Sakura, and ignored Hinata so he could be a true Emo on the inside, he had to hate himself.

 

Seriously Kishi and Junko (whoever you are) Read the fricking manga.

 

 

Yeah, that whole thing, him getting in Sakura's face like that.... Naruto was the only one lying to himself. He was the biggest one. No one else was. Not even Sakura. She saw Sasuke for who he was and she was going to kill him for it. She leaves and Naruto has a breakdown because he can't accept the truth. Sakura had already accepted the truth and made a choice — and that choice was Naruto.

 

But nothing came of it. 

 

I think, at the end of the day, Kishimoto is just a really bad writer. He made all these twists and turns whenever he felt like it. The readers thought he was going somewhere with it, somewhere big, but the joke was on us. He was going nowhere.

Well let's be honest here, for her to be a Mary Sue, her charactor would have to have been developed enough for her to be a recongisable charactor, all we know about her is, she is shy, polite likes Naruto, lacks confidence and only gets serious when she thinks about Naruto. We don't even know how she acts with her teammates. The fact we haven't even seen them in any scenes so far does give you an indication of how important she must think they are.

Anti-hero's can be down right, uh....Vengeful. They've got their own moral code that they abide by. 

So yes, revenge attacking is acceptable   

Along with orchestrating the eye opening of OTHERS so that they feel slighted and join our cause.

If everyone EVERYONE loves and wants you, if everyone is bowing to your whims and you've suddenly gone from being almost nothing to being the sun of the verse, you are a Mary-sue.

it isn't a bad writing. think just positive, Kishimoto and his accomplices of SP needed to retcon NS relationship for defeating it. The one who has always lied to himself was Kishimoto.

I think you are spot on, Tricksie. Naruto was lying to himself then. But that's what frustrates me. Sakura had the measure of Sasuke. And in the fight against Kaguya, you could definitely see her concerns and worries about what Sasuke would do. She's right, she understands the threat he poses. But when he makes direct claims to kill her teacher and best friend, she blows it off and turns into a fangirl again. It's heartbreaking to see such a strong woman reduced to an overly emotional girl.

 

I agree that Kishi is a bad writer. It reminds me a bit of LOST. There was so much mythology and secrets and things in LOST that could be read underneath the underneath. But in the end, the writers were throwing crap on the page to see what happened with no real vision. The same thing happened with Naruto.
