Ooooh the massacre. Yeah, I thought it was a really good element to start, but by the end, it was so muddled and twisted that it lost its impact in the story.
 
It's used to justifies Sasuke's lust for revenge, yet Obito never is held accountable for being responsible for it. And Itachi goes conveniently from killer to saint, with everyone forgetting that he was the hand that dealt the blow and tortured Sasuke for years afterward.
 
It could have been a touchstone in the story for Kishimoto to have gone back to Sauske's emotional wound could have been healed in the end, and the people of Konoha could have finally understood the terrible bloody past of the Uchiha. There could have been forgiveness and resolution. But we got none of that. 
 
I just recently read a fanfic where Sasuke can't come back to the village because he's still hated (because Kage Naruto won't exhonerate the Uchiha name because it would make waves with his in-laws and the other powerful clans). And so since Sakura is still in the village with Sarada (who is Karin's child in this fic), Sarada bears the brunt of all the hatred of the village. She basically is treated like young Naruto was! Now, this was a fic, but wouldn't this same scenario be happening in the village in canon? Sasuke's left his daughter in a village that hates him and his clan. How is this going to end well?
 
And Itachi...I always thought he was a much better villain than the sudden saint who seems to know everything about everything and NOW wants to tell everyone...after he's killed his family and twisted the mind of his only brother!! Lol. Itachi as the patron saint of "Don't-question-me-I-know-what-I'm-doing-now-do-what-I-tell-you-to-do" is a much harder sell than Itachi the Villain. Itachi the Villain was much more clean cut. In the end, Itachi was turned into some kind of psychopath moral compass, popping up to tell Naruto how to be a good Hokage. As an ultimate ninja and cold-blooded killer it was easier to understand him but when he turned "good" that's when things went bad. No matter how Kishimoto spun it, you can never use committing a massacre to justify anything. Ever. Itachi was a killer was believable. Itachi as a savior was too far-fetched. It turned the whole focus onto his motives instead of his actual crimes, and it belittled the people/family/friends/lovers he murdered. 
 
Then back to Obito...in the end, there was very little mention of his role in the massacre, as well as in all the other murders: Naruto's parents, the other jinchurikis, YahikoKonanNagato, the Mizukage.... All of it just swept under the rug. Obito got the magic-wand Itachi treatment, and all his sins magically disappeared. And we end with Naruto calling him a cool guy. *shakes head*
 
Anyway, like I said, the massacre could have been an anchoring moment in the story. Something for Sasuke's evolution to hinge on, and something to help bring him full circle. Hell, it could have worked for Naruto as well, using the massacre as a small-scale version of how violence begets violence and how he wants to stop that cycle. But none of that happened. Naruto didn't stop the cycle, just like Sasuke never got to exonerhate the Uchiha name. His clan's massacre just got lost in the scattered marbles of this story.

Ah, I know the fic you're talking about. My only issue with it is that, as something that was made to spite the ending, it seems to blame everything on Naruto, especially in the relationship department between him and Sakura, so I thought it was a bit slanted in that sense. Overall it was good.

What is you're opinion of the overall morality of the massacre? I see a lot of anti posts on tumblr that are sympathetic towards Sasuke because somehow (it is still lost on me) Naruto abandoned Sasuke, and that the Uchiha didn't get justice. They go on to slam Konoha and try to paint the Uchiha as good figures, and they say that Konoha justifies genocide and what not, but they never once take to time to mention that the Uchiha would have been guilty of a genocide hundreds of times larger had they got their way.

I've maintained that the massacre was the kittentiest outcome of an already sh*tty situation, and while Konoha was wrong in their actions, the Uchiha were just as equally guilty because they were ready to sacrifice millions of lives because they felt that their blood entitled them to lead the village without ever working for it, simply because they were Uchiha. So, in my mind, while they didn't deserve to get massacred, the assumption they deserve justice is used extremely loosely.

What does it say? Also, if they feel the need to argue that NH and SS were "planed from the beginning" and were the correct choices then that means two things. First no one is buying it and second, there are enough NS fans giving them flack that they can't simply ignore them. More importantly most of the criticism they're getting is coming from Japan. The Japanese fans are the ones with the most influence. Both our communities should work together I think. Find a way to keep the criticism loud and unavoidable.

Funnily enough I never see anyone question Bolt being Hinata's kid, and he's inherited absolutely nothing from her. At least Sarada has her mother's verbal tic and outfit.

Have you read American comics? You can retcon anything.

Also, if Yahagi really is responsible for keeping the story good both the Japanese and western fans should thank him somehow. Send him fan mail. Start a thank you page. Something.

Honestly I wouldn't really care, would I ship them if the narrative pushes that plot point? Depends on how they are being handled, but lets face it both of those characters are being handled by Kishi and his editors. It's not going to be a reconciliation prize for me because NaruSaku didn't become canon It just isn't. Throwing in those specific traits to Bolt and Sarada just to make it like hey look here's the pairing you guys wanted. No that' just insulting not just as a fan, but as an author too. If you genuinely care about a romance subplot between characters do it right. Don't rehash the same thing you used that the other pairing had to make it better. The book I was previously writing, before my current one, had these two characters that were similar to the relationship that NaruSaku had. My plan when it came to that book was to have a whole other series (this was when I had a trilogy set in mind, but I also set on which who the characters were gonna end up with since the first book. By the time the third book would come around it would tease at like the children of the important characters. They would be the focus in what i call the sequel trilogy to the last one. I've got all these notes written down and basically which children from the main characters would end up with. I'm still planning on writing these set of books in the future since I've literary got all my notes set in my drawer, and once I finish the book series I'm currently focused on then those books will be my next focus of attention because let's just say the previous series I was working on was almost a carbon copy of Naruto. So as I'm working on my current series I'm also making legit changes to make it less of a Naruto rip off series in novel form and this was prior to the sh*tty ending of Naruto. 

 

 

 

The point I'm trying to bring up with my book series (previous one) is I've got the couples planned out since the beginning. When it comes to the children of the main characters, yeah they would have certain personality traits that are similar to their parents, but they would also be different from one another compared to what their parents would be. Okay so how does that fit with Kishi's take on the new generation of Naruto? The thing about Bolt is he is almost identical to Naruto in both appearance and personality. They were both goofs,  caused trouble to get attention. The only main difference between Bolt and Naruot is  that Bolt doesn't give a kitten about the Hokage whatsoever. Okay that's the only thing that makes him somewhat interesting, and he's trying to get his father's attention. Almost identical right, well what about Sarada? Alright so Sarada in a sense is alot like her father because she values the Uchiha like just like Sasuke, and she watches the action that Bolt causes similar to how Sasuke  watched over what Naruto did (remember 698).  You could also say that Sarada watching over Bolt from afar is similar to Sakura because she watched over what Naruto had gone through as well. Thing is we haven't seen Sarada act like a total tsundere unlike Sakura, but since the spin off and the movie are on the horizon I'll bet you that she's gonna have those traits in some fashion. Even if Sarada has to go so far as to having a Inner Sarada mode which would make her alot like her mother mind you. Again the point is you have the idiot falling in love with the tsundere and you see them grow. That's the same thing we saw when it came to NaruSaku only this one becomes canon. Would I care? No because Kishi could've done this first time around because I cared about NaruSaku more than I should've.

 

He didn't do so why would I go as far to as to caring about BoruSara is as much as I did for NaruSaku. I just won't, but if there is "proper legit development between them" then okay that's just my answer. It's going to take alot of me to care about a pairing to the extent that I had for NaruSaku in what's left in this series. I will go as far as to even saying as the closest pairing like NaruSaku that I invested my time into that become canon ObiRin and I'm completely fine with that because at least that pairing not only did it have it's proper development and resolution, but it's one I can accept at the end of the day.Unlike NH and SS which had absolutely no proper development nor resolution like ObiRin. You see I still very much love NaruSaku for the development they both had, but the downfall is they didn't get the proper resolution they deserved. That's the hard part for all of us when it came to the pairings standpoint. Bottom line is BoruSara it becomes canon okay, if it gets the proper development that NS did then fine, but in no way am I gonna accept it as okay it's NaruSaku  which I didn't get. No I got that with ObiRin,  and that is never going to change my mindset one bit. I still consider NaruSaku as my top OTP and ObiRin hitting #2 for OTP in terms of Naruto.  BoruSara on the other hand I'm going to see how it's being handled. If it does well okay I'll accept it for what the pairing is, however by no means am I going to consider it better than NaruSaku or ObiRin.              

I agree with everything you said but NaruHina/SasuSaku are much more developed than ObiRin, Rin was about to confess to Kakashi after Obito saved them and is presumably dead, she dies than magically loves him in the after-life and tells him he did his best  

 

I have a question, do you think MinaKushi is better/equal to ObiRin/NaruSaku? Because that paring had just a flashback while Boro/Sara will (presumably) have the whole Mini-Series/Movie.
