I'm glad we know if it's canon or AU finally. But now this movie is either a prelude to Part 3 or an epilogue to the manga ... I want neither of these.  I know I should have faith in Kishi if he's really planning to end this manga by December, but there's just so much still to cover I'm so worried he'll rush everything. Resolving everything in a movie is crap IMO. Can we really expect Kishi to make a satisfied ending under such little time?

 

I will say this though. Since this is canon, I can say with more certainty that the unknown housewife in the sketch was probably a Sakura that's either pregnant or just had kids. The outfit she wore indicates something IMO. It does say a lot about the new generation, doesn't it? Or maybe she's just at home and I'm overthinking things lol.

 

I wonder what age they are in this movie?

Yes, I know you're right. It's very possible to end with his birthday, but not without ending it with Sasuke's issue being resolved. As I said it's horrible to end a manga that is 15 years old without having resolved the MAIN issue. It's really just to get money if he does end his manga properly in a movie only. You see, to me a simple birthday cake, without anything being resolved is not an ending. Yes, that's how I would put it: It's not an ending for a manga. 

 

honestly, sasuke seems a bit redeemed in this war... the confrontation between naruto and sasuke will be at political level, regarding the title of hokage, not a physical battle...

It's amazing that someone or something could entrust so much to a company like Pierrot - what with the enormous inconsistencies in their rendition of Kishi's story and the willingness to circumvent facts to suit their ideal universe (I'm looking at the drawn-out, overexaggerated "struggle" that Hinata had with Pain and her fanciful flashbacks versus actual spur of the moment confession seen in the manga and her face being planted firmly into the dirt after a short and pointless charge at God Realm).

Even if Kishi is monitoring the progress of this movie to ensure its authenticity, it's still ostracising those who only read the manga. What are they supposed to do? Suffer through whatever Pierrot's team churns out while foraging through the animation to find a few gold nuggets of information that can genuinely tie into Kishi's image of the plot? I have some misgivings of my own about this. I'm afraid that in a movie that is apparently being labeled as canon, Pierrot is being given an extended hand to inject their own influence over the manga universe. The influences don't even have to be large. Something that might seem "trivial" like a slight change in the mood of a side-character or a technique being used that was first introduced in filler now being considered as part of that person's actual manga moveset, that is what concerns me. I certainly don't want to see something like that chakra net barrier of Hinata's from Part 1 filler becoming a part of the canonicity because of a loophole with this movie.

I just hope that Kishi remembers that this is ultimately his work. It was originally created by him in paper format and it should end in that same manner IMO.

 

lol I don't understand why people hate Hinata so much. Her silly obsession with Naruto isn't nearly as bad as Naruto's obsession with Sasuke-"OH, he tried to murder the love of my life twice in a row, but he's a great friend!" Oh Naruto. Anime tends to pad a lot because they have a lot of space to fill. It's not canon, so I don't see it as that big of a deal. As for why he'd end it in a movie..money perhaps? If the manga's ending can only be seen in theaters, then yeah, people will go and watch it. Kind of ingenius

Mm, I don't think it's that bad on Pierrot's part because Kishi had Naruto say that Hinata is 'strong' while showing a flashback to Hinata's fight with Pain.

Since today I was near to cinema for an errand, I took the leaflets. The rumoured woman seems to be holding a towel.

Ok from what these translations are telling me is
1: it's Canon to the original story
2: that the movie is possibly a prelude to something more to happen
3: the movie itself is just a future glimpse of what's to come in the naruto series while the manga itself is still going where it is at currently at that time.....
-beyond the original work
- connects to the new generation

But without anymore info to go at I can't really say for sure if that will happen. I mean other studios and writers have done it before and the only one I can think of right now is the old nickolodeon show Rugrats when they showed episode "all grown up" and still continued the show a few more episodes until they'd began the next installment All Grown Up. That's all I've got on the situation what y'all think lol

I guess my theory that Naruto will die a poetic hero death will never come true :( if I have the time and my friends are willing to translate some Japanese for me, I'm willing to fly to Japan to watch this... Problem is, I have neither :(
