Yes, this is my last one, because well, I guess we have a good laugh or so in here. I’m only guessing like Sakura, only mine is reasonable since tumblr consist over thousands and thousands people. Seriously, while I did enjoy the laugh and all, I just want to leave one last comment before ending my time with the Gaiden.
To begin with, I made a review on the Gaiden or rather, record it, but I will say my abridged version here. The chapter itself had one job to make things seem interesting, but it only did one good part: more fan fiction ideas. You get these potential interactions, developments, etc. but as many of us know, Kishimoto always seems to miss the mark no matter how clear it is. That said I’m fine with people thinking fan fiction idea but that requires me supporting the work, so I refuse. I never like Naruto’s short hair, I never like the story behind Sasuke’s absent, especially now, and so on. Even if you search on the web, they call it a fan fiction more so than a story. It feels like a visual novel and there’s no limited paths.
That said this chapter was average at best. One of the main problems is that it felt like it was too much for small amount of pages, meaning he had to cram it all in to make us care or something. It felt like the impact between Sakura and Sarada could have been effective if there was a stronger emphasis on the ordeal. In fact, why this chapter wasn’t more than 23 pages, with few that took unnecessary spaces? The storyline reveal, if it is what I think, should have kept for the next chapter. Now I just know that Sarada is only there to resolve this daddy issue and nothing more. If you expect more, you won’t. Kishimoto only using this for easy cheap plug-in moral lesson that is already predictable before it can even happen. The problem is the execution.
Make no mistake, there will be easy “sucker” to eat anything that comes at them, including the mother dilemma. Because of this, people will be blindsided to what’s truly there and truly got them there. Much like Obito’s revelation, it won’t feel right and disjointed. I know it’s only one chapter, but the way of how the story is coming about is already strikingly mediocre. It doesn’t help with the forced plot devices as well the possible outcome recovery like Sakura waking up, home repair after the story is done, and so on. Of course, the most laughable forced plot is the picture and trust me, I can go on for a long time, so you know the story. The only thing I got out of this is daddy’s issue, nothing more than that. I don’t have problem with this kind of plot line, but the way it’s leading to it is already a bad start that only proves that this whole scenario is unnecessary and distasteful for many fans.
I won’t be reading the next chapters. If I were to guess, I would say nothing will change that drastically from chapter 700. To begin with, chapter 700 should have been your conclusion to Boruto. That’s right, Boruto. Instead, it’s the same old stuff going on. Think about this way:
Chapter 700:
-Boruto understands the endurance thanks to his dad
-Sarada look forward to her dad return
Now, the Gaiden will just bring up the problems but if I have to guess, it may will be this:
After all end:
-Boruto understands the endurance thanks to his dad
-Sarada look forward to her dad return
Anything different? Because the Gaiden is just a reboot edition, only difference is longer and they’re graduate. Why else chapter 700 suddenly became retconned or dismissed? I don’t recall them having that much of an issue. Now, it’s expanded or rather reboot. If I’m right, then you know who called it.
So, I won’t read them until it’s over. I’m only reading them to get the understanding of the movie, but even so, it feels like the movie will ignore most of the Gaiden or rather, won’t reflect much of it since the movie seems to focus on the exam and Sarada seems like she’s cool. So you only get extended cut. If only Kishimoto didn’t use them as character bait to draw out old characters and not really pushing them to give them unique personality and characteristics, outside of daddy’s issue.
But it is cash grab, so what can you do…
