Hinata needs to actually grow as a character. Not have her heart broken. I would love for her to be able to realize her life doesn't have to revolve around Naruto. She should be able to be strong on her own, for her own reasons, not just for Naruto. Then she should be like a war hero or something and be the hero of the Hyuga clan, thus proving she can lead them. Something like that, much better then Hinata being pairing fodder.

I'm all for Hinata moving past Naruto, but I am against it being done in such a way. It seems rather harsh.

I'd prefer if Naruto actually spoke to her personally about it, and made his feelings known in that way, maybe after she approaches him. Being motivated to get the guy you love then in the next hour or so witnessing him all over another girl would be rather heartbreaking.

You guys misunderstood me (that or I just didn't word it so that my point came across the way that I intended it). To me, Hinata realizing on her own that Naruto doesn't feel that way about her, that he's completely head over heels for someone else, is far kinder than her going to Naruto with high hopes and then getting turned down to her face. This way, Hinata comes off the stronger for it, to make the decision on her own that she can be strong on her own merits without relying on Naruto or his opinion of her. Hinata's love actually reminds me a lot of Vash's love for Rem in the anime version of Trigun. Vash, like Hinata, lived by the moral code of the person he loved the most. At the end of the series, he decides that while he's going to continue to believe in her, he's going to find his own path. And he looks completely at peace. This is the way I imagine Hinata getting her closure.

Realizing that she accomplished something great, in getting the acknowledgement from the person she's admired and loved for so long, and being able to save him. She doesn't need to get with him to complete herself, or prove her worth. I completely agree that it should be a positive moment for Hinata. I even posted elsewhere on this site (though I can't remember which thread) that I stated this scene definitely shouldn't be sad.

I understand your point, but that scenario simply wouldn't be the kindest for the character.

I can see where you're coming from, but while its a valid point, I still can't help but feeling that being turned down directly by Naruto would be more painful (or maybe less dignified for her character).

Keep in mind (and I'm aware now that perhaps I didn't make this all that clear) that the NaruSaku moment wouldn't be anything overt or super intimate (like walking in on them kissing or tangled up in a mutual hug). Just her stumbling across Sakura healing Naruto while they're talking (like in the hospital scene in chapter 343) or something similar. Something that Hinata observes and is able to understand from watching their interaction, and accept privately - maybe give her a bit of time to digest it. Of course, if she talks with Naruto afterwards to get complete confirmation/closure, and Hinata cuts him off before he can verbally turn her down her could work too, imo. She tells him that she understands how he feels, and thanks him, without having to hear from his mouth that she simply doesn't do it for him.

We may simply have to agree to disagree on this point though.

SasuHina is a fine crackpairing, but as cannon, it's almost worse than SasuSaku IMO.

I remember Kishi was once asked about Sakura's 'back-story' in an interview. He only said she's just "a normal girl". When I first read this I was disappointed since I love characters having lengthy back-stories (ex. all the x-men). But I think its actually an important that sakura is 'normal' with parents for the dynamic of team 7(mostly in part 1). I say this because Naruto and Sasuke were both orphaned and so when all three of them were put together on a team it created a kind of disconnect and tension between them and Sakura because she didn't understand what it was to not have parents or a hard childhood. She was always striving for Sasuke's attention but it always seemed that part of Sasuke's reasons for ignoring her was that 'she couldn't understand him'. Naruto and Sasuke where always pre-occupied with large ideas and pursuits while Sakura seemed vapid. Its contrast of character and contrast in any form creates interest. Of course she has since grown and changed a lot making for wonderful character development. I'd even say out of all the character's she has changed the most from the very begining of the series.

It's also nice that she's a normal girl in that we won't be getting lots of flashbacks to her parents or some hidden tragedy in her past. I think that the flashbacks in this series have been overkill (although I might be willing to make an exception if it got Sakura more screen time so I'm not exactly Mr. Consistency here).

Wow, we have seriously beat every NS topic to death. Wait...I think i got something. What if a shinobi from the future comes back to Konoha after the war He is a young man with pink hair, blue eyes and a large forehead with a large chakra reserve yet uses offensive medical ninjutsu (think about Yoroi from the chunin exams when he fought Sasuke). Anyway, he comes to warn Konoha of a great catastrophe and is doing what he can to prevent it from ever happening.

I'm immediately reminded of the scene after defeating pain where Sakura hugged Naruto and we saw many of the characters reactions, mostly sincere smiles of support. I also think about the reactions to Naruto and Sakura getting together in NaruSaku fanfiction. Its almost always a unanimous "Finally!" from everyone. Yes, these are fanfics we are talking about but I imagine it would be a similar reaction in canon.

That's before the pain arc. Surelly, Naruto's body features have change over the time period. I think she will admire Naruto's BM.

no, actually he somehow absorbed chakra from the sage to have his, so his can turn on and off, but normally they can't, otherwise nagato could turn his on and off, which he never does.

Nagatos Rinnegan was most likely transplanted which is why he never turned it off. Same with Kakashi and Danzo with their Sharingans. My theory is that Nagatos Rinnegan is actually Madaras. Madara had Tobi put the Rinnegan in Nagato because he had such huge chakra reserves so he could handle it. Once Nagato got older,Tobi would have Nagato revive Madara which is why Madara thought Nagato revived him when he came back.
