I don't have to believe in him to know how his mind works... I cannot say I believe in him, I believe in what he wrote, though... With him, it's sketchy given all these things he's doing, but I do know his mind and how he works, it's reflected in many of his actions, I don't know how to explain and neither I'm a major in psychology to tell you academically, however, you don't need that for understanding people. You just need to be around people and I've been around people all my life to get to read them pretty well and I don't wanna sound a b*tch or anything when I say that I've rarely been wrong... What gives me this confidence is the experiences I've been through and the experiences he's been through and describes in the manga... so you see, it's hard to explain how exactly I sniff these things...

lol what? We're allowed to hope.  Someone has to carry on Light Naruto's nindo. I just don't believe this at all. Re-read the entire manga from chapter 1 - 698 and say that he's a terrible writer. Sure there are mistakes here and there, but to kitten up this badly? When has something like this ever happened? I mean, he's been pretty consistent, no? Then he dumps all this on us LITERALLY in 2 weeks time before the movie. When has he ever been so direct with pairings? He doges those questions like the plague. It's just too convenient with the release of the movie happening tomorrow and it doesn't match up with what he's given us these past 15 years.

 

The man is finished if this the real deal. Well his credibility. Who's going to read his next work if he purposefully led on his audience (for no damn reason) for 15 years?

Truth be told that would have been a far better pairing than SS. At least Chiyo genuinely cared about Sakura.

At this point I'm just going to call it a victory if the genjutsu theory is right.  

 

I would be content if the final pairings were left ambiguous after all that - we can re-interpret chapter 699 & 700 pretty easily.

That's nice but you forget one thing-- Naruto manga isn't real life    Literary works only ever depend on one person- the one who is writing them. We can sit here and talk about what is right and what is wrong all we want but in the end, the author's mindset is what everything depends on. 

 

One of the reasons I had a lot of faith in NS was because I believed Kishi was a very good writer who had an amazing understanding of human-bonds. After watching RtN my respect for Kishi increased ten-fold simply because I have never seen an anime movie that portrayed bonds so deeply. Its why I believed he would never make NH/SS canon because from a bond perspective they don't make any sense.

 

But unfortunately I guess I misunderstood/ over-estimated Kishi.

Actually Rtn is not the only manga who has deep understanding over bond.
There are many MANY movie out there who has better depiction over bond.
Hayao Miyazaki movie is the prime example of what quality is all about.

To write about the characters that long, you do start to care about them. After all he views them as his "children". It's not about having respect for Kishi because I've said on here before, I don't. I never will. I'm looking at his work and the proof is in the pudding. His interviews are irrelevent to me because when I read/watch Naruto, I don't see Kishi pulling the strings (excl. 699/700) I see the characters moving on their own. You're not wrong about your statement that it depends on the author's mindset, you're totally right.

 

Kishi introduced Sakura for one reason, Naruto love interest. He's not going to (I believe) abandon all that for a side character like Hinata, at least not by choice.

 

I feel that I subconsciously understand everything that's going on. Like everything that Kishi has said, all the promotional material, the "spoilers" etc. I feel like I understand them and their purpose. I could be totally wrong, but I'm not convinced that I am.

 

Kishi isn't an amazing writer but I have to say he's not a bad one either. Pre-699/700, he made some mistakes sure, but he's also created characters that we know and love. I've got to see this through to the end, I at least owe the series that has been a big part of my life that.

 

I'm still confident in NS. I believe in NS. I was just reading a manga (beautiful manga) and there were huge obstacles between these two people but they overcame it. Same with

. There is always going to be conflict, but more often than not, the couple that started everything together, end up together.

tbh I don't know. But I read it somewhere, in this thread too, but pages ago (still around 800) that the movie will be released almost midnight (?) 11:30 PM or something.

ns.believe.it's comments about bonds really resonates with me. Admittedly, I haven't seen RtN, but I've read enough here and looked over the manga enough to know that even if you discount the romantic angle to NS, one absolutely wonderful thing about their relationship is their bond. Even if it isn't romantic, they have an amazingly strong bond; especially seen in moments like the CPR scene when Sakura so boldly states that she'll support Naruto's dream.

Yet this movie is about the devolution of that bond? We don't see them interact in 699 or 700? Sakura is nowhere to be seen supporting Hokage Naruto? Kishi is destroying one of the best bonds I've seen in a manga. That really gets to me.

Yes, I'm well aware of all this. Surely you remember all the pro-Kishi comments I used to make. What he did and what he's saying in the interviews these days shocks me as much as you.

Maybe he used to avoid answering pairing- questions because at that time, pairings were supposed to be a suspense. Maybe he's not doing the same anymore because he doesn't need to. He's already made NH/SS canon.

 And this saddens me. Like you I hope this is all a prank too cause there was a time (part 1 and up until Jiraiya's death) when this manga was one of the best Shonen ever. Kishi is/ was a really good writer.
