Yes, in the original novel, she hugs Naruto but Studio Pierrot didn't put that in...

I love the fact that Kishi spent 15 years building up a pairing solely to deceive the reader. 15 years developing parallels to Kushina, Jiraiya, Obito, etc. 15 years having friends and compatriots like Sai and Yamato observe the budding relationship. 15 years, which predates the formation of Team 7, of Naruto loving Sakura. 15 years (well, a bit less), with the PoaL hanging over our heads. 15 years of Sasuke trying to kill Sakura. 15 years of Hinata hiding behind trees. All for naught?

 

Why not spend 15 years actually showing how Sasuke was conflicted? Or that there was an actual basis for SS. Or Hinata supporting Naruto's dream and not just the idealized version of Naruto she had in her head? Why not build the actual relationships?

 

The most recent comments from Kishi are the latest in a long line of awful things he's said since 700. But the more I think about it, the more I believe he's scrambling to say whatever he can to justify the retcon. You can't be that awful a writer that you would spend such a disproportionate about of time building up a pairing you know is only to deceive.

If tomorrow, there is no miracle to appear, I'm done with this kitten for a long time. Kishimoto just said like "If you ever want to re-read this manga - remember - it's all fake". No man does that for his work of 15 years.

This is a worst piece of writing you can ever do. This is Vince Russo terrible. This is just sad in many ways. It's official. Now I ashamed to be part of this fandom.

yeah he's never been this direct before about pairings. and you guys must have thought about that secret poster not being so secretive anymore with kishi coming out and saying those things. lol gives me even more confidence.

Sorry, but I don't buy that interview in the slightest. He didn't "plan" for Hinata early on, nor did he use NS to deceive readers. Had that been the case, then he would have focused on the other pairings much more than he did. At this point, it's just meaningless noise to convince himself that he did the right thing. He knows that he didn't use NS to mislead people, and in all likelihood, he knows that he kittened up and went with the pairing that made no sense, so now he's trying to sell the idea not only to the fanbase, but to himself. I mean, Christ, they have events over in japan dedicated to Naruto and Sakura.

Like you said a few posts back; I'm feeling ashamed that I'm so invested in this fandom right now. I have never felt so deceived by an author before. And he's going out of his way to thumb his nose at the NS fandom.
