Quick Thoughts about the poll:

- Hell yeah! Gorilla-sempai deserved the number one spot!

- a bit surprised (and slightly annoyed) that Kentarou Miura, the mangaka of Berserk, isn't on the list; guess people are fed up with the hiatuses (let's see how long you will stay up there Togashi)

- Sui Ishida placing before Masashi Kishimoto (though just barely tbh)

- Io Sakisaka... I know better shoujo mangakas than her -.-

- on the other hand: Hiromu Arakawa and Rumiko Takahashi---> two respectable female mangakas that deserved to be in the top ten

- absolute utter kitten for Kishimoto to be even in the top ten

Mishashi Kurumada is not in  the list, it seems  like you said trang people doesn't like hiatuses.

I think it has something to do with manga sell. If I'm not mistaken, top ten are mangaka of the top ten volume release or some one who has big fandom/popularity.
Well, there's no naoki urasawa.

Berserk is pretty dark on sale or popularity wise though older audience know the deal. Anyway, it seems to be artist, since one half of Death Note made it and he's the artist, not the writer. I'm upset that the guy who is now doing OnePunch-Man art gets nothing. His art since Eyeshield 21 is top notch. I guess it's about exposure which many of them got. Like the tag line, Shounen Jump artists do well. Even Bleach got in, though if we're counting just art, fair enough.

Well, this is just a popularity/favorites list. If the poll had been about best mangaka, Urasawa, Tezuka, or Miura would easily have been in the top ten.

It's about popularity.
The more popular you get, the more product you sell.

Oh and art is important element in manga, but not the most important.

Hmm, I guess I understand. I guess I overestimated Berserk's popularity... (it needs an anime readaptation; I can't stand that weird animation in the movies).

The more popular you get, the more product you sell.

Yeah, I agree. No offense, but Rumiko Takahashi's art hasn't evolved a lot over the thirty years, but she is still the most successful female mangaka ever.

Naah, I doubt it will be better than movie. One thing for sure, it will be less gore. I think it would be better if they continue the anime after golden arc.

Well, it is not change, but it's not regress either.
For her, I see there's no change in her writing style. She relied more on her gag. Oh and she's still active with her rinne.

Well, I still need to see the anime and three movies to fully judge.

Most likely it will be true, but once the bluray sales are out, the gore shouldn't be an issue anymore. I just want Berserk to get the attention it deserves, and I believe that would work better in an anime format.

 

It's just the same with her art. I've watched the first few episodes of Rinne, but meh, I put it on hold for now. Inuyasha will always be my favorite work of hers.
